School Holidays: Winter vacation for classes 1-8 extended till January 13 in Jaipur, Sikar in Rajasthan

Jaipur: The biting cold wave sweeping across India has prompted authorities to extend the winter holidays in schools. In view of the severe cold, the winter vacation of children of classes 1 to 8 in Jaipur and Sikar districts of Rajasthan has been extended till January 13. In Jaipur, January 14 is a Sunday and January 15 is a holiday for Makar. Sankranti, schools in the district will resume on January 16. However, in Sikar, schools will reopen on January 15. The minimum temperature in Jaipur has reached below 5 degrees Celsius.

Earlier on Thursday, the district administration extended the winter vacation of students of classes 1 to 8 by eight days. Issuing an order in this regard, Jaipur District Collector Prakash Chandra Rajpurohit said the weather will fluctuate continuously in the coming week, news agency IANS reported.

Taking into account the changing weather conditions, the winter holiday period will be extended until January 13. However, during this period the pre-planned exams remain the same. Strict action will be taken against schools that do not adhere to these government rules.

Earlier, the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) had officially announced the winter vacation schedule for 2023. According to the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), winter holidays for all schools would start from December 25, 2023.

  • Dense to very dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail over some parts over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan for a few hours during the night/morning from January 4 to 6; in isolated pockets on the 7th and dense fog in isolated pockets for the next 2 days.
  • Dense to very dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated areas over western Rajasthan for a few hours in the morning on January 5 and 6 and in isolated areas on January 7
  • It is very likely that cold to severe cold day conditions will continue in some parts of the country
    Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh during 4-06 and Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on 4-5 January.

There is a moderate chance of a cold wave in isolated parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, North Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh
