Dr. Nicole Martijn has yet to meet her handful of half-siblings after her father's death, Miguel Alberto Martin.
“So I did a genetic test, one of those 23 and I, and nothing came up,” Nicole, 38, told exclusively We weekly on Wednesday, January 17, while talking about The Real Housewives of Miami season 6. “The problem with those tests is that it depends on who is in the database. So if these are young kids, about seven years old, they won't be in the database, but at least now my information is in there. So as they get older, we will be a match if they ever decide to do it.”
During a december 2023 episode of RHOM, Miguel dropped the news that he and his girlfriend were expecting twins. When Nicole was asked where the babies took his total number of children, she was shocked to learn that she is one of his eight children, only knowing about her brother. Mikeyand two other half-siblings.
Nicole said Us that the revelation came as “a huge shock”, but that things have been “going well” since her father's death. “It was difficult at first because it was such a surprise. It happened out of nowhere. No one expected it,” she said. “But we were actually at the best point in our relationship ever, which gave me some closure and some peace.”
Nicole also noted that her father had not provided her with “any information” about her half-siblings before his death in November 2023, adding: “I don't know anything about them, who their mothers are, where they are.”
She was going to tease that in the future RHOM In episodes, fans see her meet her father's girlfriend. “[It] It was a big deal to me, but to him it was very important. So I feel like I extended that olive branch and I was able to meet her,” Nicole shared. “They even came to our finals party, so I feel like we were in a really good place. So I'm at peace with that.”
Despite the happy reunion, Nicole said she was unable to maintain her relationship with Miguel's girlfriend after his death. “We spoke very shortly after he passed away, and the conversation didn't go exactly as I had hoped,” she explained. “That said, my father's last memory is that I was willing to meet her because it was important to him. And so that is what really matters.”
Last year, Nicole broke the news that her father had died via Instagram by sharing several photos of him with her, her brother, her fiancé, Anthony Lopezand their son, Greyson, now 4.
“I couldn't find the words and still can't. Everything happened so quickly and it still doesn't seem real. Part of me is still waiting for one of your crazy calls,” she captioned her November 2023 post. “So many things left unsaid and moments not shared. We try not to dwell on the moments missed and focus on the improvements we've made. You had a zest for life and I know you are having a party in heaven. Rest in peace daddy. Love you. 🙏❤️🥹.”
Some of her RHOM costars expressed their condolences in the comments, including Alexia Nepola, who wrote, “I'm sorry for your loss. Sending you love and light ❤️.” Guerdy Abrairafor her part said, “I'm so glad your last moments with him were positive and loving. That's all that matters, the good memories. He was the life of the party and always so positive and THAT is definitely an atmosphere to live by, where every day is considered a blessing. ❤️🙏🏾.”
