The Royal Family has partnered with several leading cancer charities to promote support for people suffering from cancer and their loved ones.

In two posts on their social media pages, the royal family teamed up with Macmillan Cancer Support and Maggie's Centers, less than 48 hours after the shock news from Buckingham Palace that King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer.

The diagnosis was revealed on Monday evening, when the monarch had already started outpatient treatment for the cancer, which was reportedly caught 'early'.

It was found during an elective operation at The London Clinic, where the king was being treated for a benign enlarged prostate.

Macmillan said the charity hoped news of Charles' cancer would 'encourage others to seek help and support'.

Charles' diagnosis was revealed Monday evening, although the type and stage of the cancer remain private

The message read: 'We hope that by sharing his diagnosis so publicly, His Majesty the King will encourage others to seek support if they are concerned about cancer.

'If you have any possible signs or symptoms, please contact your GP to have them investigated.

'If you are looking for information or support about cancer, please visit our website or call our Support Line on 0808 808 00 00. We provide specialist, confidential support to people with cancer and their loved ones.

“If you want to talk, we'll listen.”

A separate post in partnership with Maggie's Centers read: 'If someone you care about has been diagnosed with cancer, you may be wondering how you can best support them.

'We asked people with cancer to give some examples of what has worked well for them during their treatment.

'Whether you need someone to talk to about ways to support someone living with cancer, helping to manage stress or struggling emotionally, just come to your nearest Maggie's.

'Located on the grounds of NHS hospitals, Maggie's centers are welcoming spaces that provide free expert cancer support to friends and family, as well as those who have been diagnosed.'

It comes after King Charles was seen for the first time since his diagnosis on Tuesday when he and his wife Queen Camilla flew by helicopter to Sandringham.
