Fortunately, older devices are not left in the dark, as Samsung is also rolling out some of these top benefits to earlier models.

It's currently unclear which of the big new AI features will arrive on older smartphones as part of the company's proprietary Android software, known as One UI.

Which Galaxy phones will receive the free new upgrade?

The next major Samsung upgrade is expected sometime in the first half of 2024 on the following models:

  • Galaxy S23 series
  • Galaxy S23FE
  • Galaxy Tab S9
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5
  • Galaxy Z Flip 5

The highlights we saw last week included massive improvements in image editing, the ability to translate phone calls in real time, and circle search so you can find just about anything from Google by simply drawing a circle around it.

However, some smaller but exciting additions also came to One UI 6.1 later this year.

AI wallpapers

Among all the AI excitement coming to Samsung's phones are AI wallpapers.

If you're wondering what that means, you can basically tell your phone what you want the wallpaper to look like and it will create it for you.

Just type what it is and the AI will generate an image.

It can be as wild as cows flying through space or a serine beach setting with your name in the sky.

Environmental weather wallpaper

AI isn't the only big change in backgrounds.

You can now also add the weather to them so they change depending on the current conditions where you are.

So when it rains outside, you will see it on your wallpaper.

It serves as a much more visual and faster way for weather updates.

Samsung Find

A brand new app is launching on One UI 6.1 called Samsung Find.

It allows you to keep track of all your gadgets in one place.

Think of it as Apple's Find My or Google's Find My Device.

It is divided into three tabs: People, Devices and Items.

The People section lets you share your local area with a loved one, just like you can on Google Maps and Facebook.
