SARAH Payne's sadistic killer Roy Whiting was left covered in blood after being stabbed in prison.

It is understood Whiting was treated for minor injuries while police are now investigating.

A source told the Mirror: “Whiting is hated in jail. He was stabbed and covered in blood. They tried to kill him.”

Whiting was jailed for life in 2002 after killing an eight-year-old Sara.

The enemy seized the little boy as she walked along a country lane to her grandparents' home in Kingston Gorse, West Sussex.

Whiting is subject to a series of attacks in prison since he was incarcerated.

In 2020, The Sun revealed how he was stabbed by fellow lags, you shouted “you f***ing n***e” at him.

The monster was also defeated by Richard Prendergast and Kevin Hyden, both of whom admitted to deliberately wounding Section 18.

The pair had sneaked into Whiting's cell in the maximum security prison and attacked him before staff managed to intervene.

He was also previously stabbed with a sharpened toilet brush handle by double murderer Gary Vinter.

In 2002, killer Rickie Tregaskis cut his cheek with a razor blade, leaving a 6-inch scar.

Sarah's murder horrified the nation after she was kidnapped in July 2000 following a game of hide and seek with her brothers.

Her body lay undiscovered for 17 days in a field near Oulborough, about 15 miles from where she disappeared in Kingston Gorse.

A post-mortem revealed she had been strangled and suffocated, with most of her hair pulled out during the violent killing.

When police searched Whiting's van, they discovered candy, toys and rope, as well as knives and baby oil.

The seized clothing officers were found to contain strands of Sarah's hair.

Whiting was convicted in December 2001 and has now served at least 40 years for his sickening crimes.

Jeremy Bamber – The monster was convicted of the White House Farm murders in 1985, after killing five members of his family.

Mark Bruger – Bridger abducted five-year-old April Jones from her home in Machynlleth, Mid Wales, in October 2012. He then claimed that he had accidentally run over the child, but was convicted of murder.

Ian Watkins – The frontman of Lost Prophets was sentenced to 35 years in prison in 2013 for a series of child abuse. Watkins was stabbed in the neck in jail last August.

When Sarah was murdered, it emerged that he had been convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting another little girl.

As a result, the youngster's family campaigned for Sarah's sake Lawwhich allows parents, caregivers and guardians to ask questions Police as someone who has contact with a child history of insulting.

A Prison Service spokesperson told The Sun Online: “A prisoner at HMP Wakefield was treated for minor injuries following an incident involving another offender.

“It would be inappropriate to comment further while police investigate.”
