Launched in November 2019, it quickly became and remains one of the most coveted gaming systems in the world.

This is due to the construction, design and the many tools the system is equipped with.

One such PS5 tool includes an auto-mute setting that allows you to turn off your microphone in case you forget to do so.

Auto-mute is useful for obvious reasons. The most obvious one is to prevent others from listening to your private conversation.

This is important, especially in situations where you share sensitive information with someone in your household.

Despite its importance, many users don't know how to enable this feature, as illustrated by a Reddit thread.

“I've had [my P25] for over a year and didn't know you could mute the microphone automatically,” said a user on the phone wire.

“Kind of creepy that you can forget about it and have someone listen in,” a second person commented.

HOW TO ENABLE AUTO-MUTE

Enabling auto-mute on your PS5's DualSense controller means it's turned off by default when you turn on your console.

To automatically mute your microphone, first go to Settings on the home screen of your PlayStation 5.

Navigate to Sound and then tap the Microphone option.

From here, tap on Microphone Status when logged in and set it to Mute.

This will silence your microphone so you don't have to worry about people listening to your conversations.

OTHER USEFUL TOOLS

Another useful setting you may be familiar with on your PS5 is activity cards.

Activity cards are a quick and easy way to access parts of a game without having to go through the entire launch process.

For example, you can start or resume single-player activities such as side missions and trophy hunts from your dashboard.

Activity cards also make it easy to track your game progress and view completion information (such as how long a particular quest takes).

PlayStation users can access Activity Cards by hovering over a game's icon in the Home menu.

Once you do that, press the Down button and you will see map prompts on the screen.

The prompts allow you to dive into a specific phase, match, location or moment.
