Boss Jacob Neestrop admits that 63 days without a game is not ideal.

He said: “Of course it would be an advantage if we had been in full flow, but it is what it is.

“We tried to have the best start with our training

“We feel like we're in a really good place.

“We are going for playing a good match and delivering a good performance to get a result like we have done in the other Champions League matches.”

Copenhagen played in the friendly Atlantic Cup in Portugal last week to get some match practice and won two of their three matches.

This is only the second time they have reached the last 16, losing to Chelsea in 2011.

But they came from a group that also included Bayern Munich and Manchester United and lost just two of 18 Champions League games at their Parken Stadium, known for its hostile atmosphere.

Scotland centre-back Scott McKenna, 27, is in line for a debut after joining from Nottingham Forest last month.

The defender had fallen out of favor under Steve Cooper and was unable to convince Nuno Espirito Santo that he should be given a place back in the team.

Speaking about Manchester City in the Champions League, Mckenna said: “Manchester City are clearly a top team and it will be a difficult match.

'But I don't think you should show them too much respect, otherwise they'll just walk all over you.

“You have to try to make it as difficult as possible for them and hopefully that works for us too.

“I've only played against Manchester City once and it didn't end well for me! I know Copenhagen also played against City in the Champions League last season, so the players at the club have probably played against them more than me. “
