‘Search Party’ showrunner Charles Rogers is accused of sexual abuse

Charles Rogers is accused of sexually assaulting a production assistant who worked on his TV series Find party.

Evan Schwartzwho was an assistant on the show from January 2020 to March 2020, shared a photo from the morning after the alleged incident.

“This is a selfie Charles Rogers took with my phone the morning after he sexually assaulted me in 2020. I was his driver during the shoot for Search Party. After taking this selfie, he joked, ‘I have a lawyer in case anyone of mine is me too,’” Schwartz wrote on Saturday, January 6, via X (formerly Twitter). “I don’t remember falling asleep that night.”

Schwartz worked closely with Rogers, 36, after he was hired. “Charles was the writer/director of the show – I was his driver, he was my boss. He actually gave me a drink right before we left the party, of which I drank half,” he recalled. “My red eyes and the drool running down my chin in that photo should tell you all you need to know. The psychological damage this has caused me is indescribable.”

In the post, Schwartz said he was “incited” to “exonerate” Rogers from a previous investigation conducted by the network.

A source close to the production addressed the allegations in a telling statement The cover on Monday, January 8, “Evan recanted his statement in writing after filing the claim. An investigation was conducted prior to this and investigators were unable to confirm any of the allegations.”

Schwartz also stated that he was still suffering from “severe psychosis and delusions” a year after the alleged attack. “Because of the psychotic episode, I thought I had made this all up, and I even sent him an email telling him he had done nothing wrong,” he wrote, claiming Rogers denied the attack during the investigation.

The production assistant went on to say that Rogers allegedly told the network’s HR investigator that he “wouldn’t know how to drug someone.”

A person close to Rogers denied the allegations in a statement The cover, saying: “The facts speak for themselves, as evidenced by this individual’s decision to retract his own statement amid a thorough third-party investigation, which found no wrongdoing. Charles unequivocally denies this allegation regarding a mutually consensual relationship.”

Find party premiered on TBS in 2016 and ran for two seasons on the network before moving to WarnerMedia’s Max streaming service. The dark comedy aired for three more seasons on Max before coming to an end in 2022. Alia Shawkat, John Reynolds, John Early And Meredith Hagner starred in all five seasons of the show.
