A BRIT passenger was put in a chokehold by other fliers after he allegedly got drunk and assaulted cabin crew.

Four men intervened to help airline staff who were struggling to calm the disgruntled passenger.

You could see someone holding him around the neck in an attempt to restrain him, but he tried to wriggle free.

A woman, believed to be the man's girlfriend, asked the man holding him to remove his finger from his eye.

She called him “Ben” and said, “Please take that off his face.”

He replied, “I can't just leave him.”

She adds: “No, no, no, don't listen, don't tell me to stop.”

A fellow pilot tells her, “Go back now.”

She replies, “Ben, Ben stop fighting them. Stop fighting against them.”

As the man tries to escape, someone says, “Take him down.”

The woman is heard saying, “No,” and begins sobbing.

The group manages to restrain him and then move him through the plane path where two cabin crew members are located.

One passenger exclaims, “Jesus Christ.”

While another said: “What the f***.”

One man tries to reassure a child, adding, “Don't worry, I'm here.”

The flight departed Gatwick at 11.55am and arrived on time at 3.15pm on Tuesday.

Another Briton, Grant Saunders, who works as a hypnotist, was on the run.

He said: “The men from the back of the plane came down to help.

“Eventually they knocked him to the ground.

“I felt sorry for the older couples who were sitting where it happened.

“The boys got a round of applause when they left.”

He claimed: “The man was drunk and became loud and aggressive, causing the chairs to move.

“When the crew asked him to calm down, it started to get worse.

“Then he started wandering down the aisle, the crew asked him to sit in his seat and then he started getting aggressive.”

Another passenger called Nick said: “They managed to restrain him and prevent the flight from being diverted and causing major disruption to the passengers and crew.

“Thanks to their courageous and brilliant efforts, the flight landed without further incident.

“They need to be recognized by the airline.”

The Sun Online has approached JetBlue and Sussex Police for comment.

In a statement, the airline said: “On Tuesday, January 30, a customer on board Flight 1926 flying from London to New York began behaving erratically and aggressively towards his traveling companion and members of the crew on board.

“The crew also discovered an opened bottle of liquor that the customer had brought on board and evidence of intoxication.

“For everyone's safety, the customer was restrained with the assistance of other customers who witnessed this threatening behavior.

“The flight landed safely at JFK Airport in New York, where police took over the situation.”

It comes after an angry passenger was not alone kicked off a plane for farting too much, but also bragged about the smellit was claimed.

The man was taken from a US airlines early evening flight from Phoenix, Arizona to Austin, Texasafter the unusual behavior.

The chaos forced the plane to return to the gate and was delayed by 15 to 30 minutes at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, a person on board said.

The Texas-based passenger wrote on Reddit: “I was on a direct US flight from Phoenix to Austin and I was sitting near the row where this situation occurred.”

They added that the stinky situation on January 14 was “kind of funny” and “somewhat entertaining”, but nothing was filmed.

The Reddit The poster added that the passenger could have been hungover because they were “audibly unhappy about something” after boarding the flight.

Once most of the passengers were on board, the “grown man” reportedly said, “You thought that was rude?” Well, what about this smell' and farted.
