Last week, Amazon announced that subscription costs will increase by 43 percent next month.

From March 11, monthly subscribers will have to pay £4.99 instead of £3.49 – an increase of £1.50.

While people who pay for a year in advance will face a £15 increase, from £34.99 to £49.99 for the 12 months.

Charges are per device, so if you have more than one Ring product, your bill will increase even more.

Martin Lewis, 51, has revealed a little trick to prevent price rises for a year.

But others are considering switching to alternatives.

“It seems like everyone is grumbling about the rise in ring doorbell subscriptions. This device pays for itself within a year compared to ring and all your data is at home and not in the cloud,” shared a bargain hunter on HotUKDeals.

The device in question is the Eufy 2K Video Battery Doorbell with HomeBase 2 16GB local storage.

It is currently offered from Costco for £109.

For those who can't buy at Costco, you can get it Amazon and Currys at a higher price tag, but this could still save money in the long run if there were no subscription fees charged.

Instead, video clips are stored on a nearby HomeBase 2 kit, with space for 16 GB.

Eufy's video quality is 2K (2560 x 1920) resolution, which is more than some Ring devices.

And the company claims the battery will last 180 days on a single charge.

“I'm tempted to ditch my Ring doorbell and cameras for this,” said one customer.

“The Ring is very unreliable for me.”

Another commented: Take the RING. am very happy with it. but i think it's time. to cancel the subscription that expires next month.

“£49.99, while this eufy might be up to the task. Some of the feedback isn't that good.”

A third added: “Great video doorbell. I've had mine for a few years and have had absolutely no problems and it is used in households with a lot of visitors.”

All prices in this article were correct at the time of writing, but may have changed since then.
