A single mum who was trolled after appearing on Channel 5’s Rich Kids Go Skint has revealed why she spends thousands of pounds on her son every month.

Jodie Weston, 30, from London, joined the show in 2018 and has since become a professional DJ with more than 217,000 followers.

She admitted that she refuses to go on cheap holidays, and one of her recent trips was a £7,000 trip to Disneyland Paris to celebrate her son Koa’s first birthday.

Despite being ‘judged’ by other ‘jealous’ mums, she also spends £1,000 a month on clothes, baby toys and food parcels for her son.

With the cost of living set to impact families as the weather gets colder, the mother-of-one has opened up about why there are certain things she just won’t compromise on.

The influencer, who also recently appeared on Channel 5’s Rich Holiday Poor Holiday, said: ‘I think if you’ve got it, show it off!’

Jodie, who says she is ‘disciplined’ with her money, recently spent £7,000 on a four-day trip to celebrate her toddler’s first birthday, and also gives him thousands of pounds every month buying toys and designer clothes.

She added: “I believe in living within your means and if you can afford a little luxury, why not?

“My son is my only child, so I guess I just want to enjoy these precious memories because they are a first for me.

‘Life has definitely become more expensive, but I’m disciplined with what I spend money on and make sure I don’t get into debt so I can afford these glamor trips.’

A week ago the duo traveled first class on the Eurostar to Paris – with a premium ticket that cost £275 one way per person in October – and stayed in a suite at a Disneyland hotel.

And then they go to Budapest, for a weekend city trip in a five-star hotel.

Jodie said: ‘We stayed in a suite in one of the Disneyland hotels, had a private dining experience with the characters, traveled first class on the Eurostar, had extra time in the park before it opened – exclusively for hotel guests only – a VIP tour, and made it happen with champagne and cheese boards during the stay.

‘We’re about to take a long weekend city break to Budapest, staying in a glamorous five-star hotel and enjoying the sights, flying first class and using the first class lounge beforehand.

‘Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t like living a ‘normal’ life, I was born to be a unicorn.

“So I had a lot of, ‘Who takes their son to Disneyland for his first birthday?’ comments, but the people who matter said, “Just do what you want to do.”

‘I truly believe in living your life for your own happiness and not just to follow social norms.

“My son had a great time and I loved seeing him smile, so for me it was a success.”

She said, “Yes, other mothers judge me; I mean, I’m a DJ and a mother, which in itself is a collision of two completely opposite lifestyles. That’s enough to put people off me.

‘I also get nice compliments. I’ve been stopped a lot lately with my stroller because my moms said they looked as glamorous as I did when they had a baby.

‘Jealousy is of course a big thing, as is ‘mum shaming’, which I absolutely despise and which annoyingly often comes from other women.

“Some women even act like you’re selfish because you’re working with a baby, but I have to raise money and make sure my son’s future is safe.”

In addition to holidays, Jodie also likes to buy nice things for her son; Despite his young age, the toddler has quite an impressive wardrobe, filled with brands like Moschino, Ralph Lauren and Armani.
