Gabriel from Sister Wives says 'Brown Family was back' at Christine Wedding
The Brown family has been under pressure for years, but… Gabriel Brown called Christine Brown And David Woolley's wedding was the “healthy” reunion they needed.
“For the first time in a long time, it felt like the real Brown family was back,” Gabriel, 22, told the cameras during a Sunday, January 14, episode. Sister Wives: Christine and David's Wedding special. “It felt very healthy.”
Janelle And Kody Brown's son reflected on his sister-mother's sweet bond after attending Christine's wedding in October 2023 with his five siblings, Logan, Maddy, Hunter, Garrison And Savannah. In addition, five of 51-year-old Christine and Kody's six children were present: Aspyn, Mykelti, Peedon, Ysabel And Really and truly.
“It gave me a very complete feeling that everyone was there. And we had our family back together,” Gabriel continued. “Everyone was so happy to be with family again and we haven't experienced that in a long time.”
Gabriel commented that he has “never seen Christine so happy.” He claimed his comment was “not a slight to my father,” who divorced Christine in 2021 after more than 25 years of spiritual marriage. (Gabriel and his brother Garrison, 25, have been feuding with their father since he claimed they didn't respect him or his COVID-19 rules in 2020.)
“I think they really tried. They went through a hard time and that they really loved each other. But I guess sometimes that's just the way things go,” Gabriel said during a confessional. “I am reassured that this is good for Christine when I see how happy David makes her.”
Gabriel's mother, Janelle, 54, also noticed how the addition of David to Christine's life has improved all their family bonds. “It just feels good that David and Christine are getting married. It just feels good. It feels like we're whole,” Janelle told the cameras after the ceremony. “It feels like the family still has an identity. [David] I would be so open to any of the other kids joining us.”
After Janelle split from Kody, 54, in 2022, she and Christine have grown increasingly closer. When Christine married David, she made sure he knew that Janelle was part of the package as her former sister wife.
although Meri Brown, who announced her divorce from Kody in January 2023, was not on the guest list, she wished Christine and David the best in their next chapter. Kody and his fourth wife, Robin Brownwere also absent from the Utah ceremony.
Christine's wedding marked a new chapter for the Brown family – with many of the children revealing during the wedding special that they are no longer fans of polygamy.
“Now that my mother is remarrying, I think I think differently about polygamy,” Christine's eldest child, Aspyn, 28, said on Sunday. “Things went well for a while, but then she needed something else.”
Ysabel, 20, told the cameras she would “never want to live polygamy” but said she was “very grateful” for her upbringing.
“I honestly think polygamy is a terrible idea,” Mykelti, 27, added. “I don't think it was fair to my parents. I know what I earn, and I know what my mothers and my father earn too. I don't think polygamy is something anyone deserves.”
Gabriel agreed that the lifestyle is not for everyone, saying, “I think polygamy is beautiful for those who desire it. Who believe in it and want everything that comes with it.” His younger sister, Savanah, 19, agreed, saying: “Personally, I don't think I could ever make it work.”
