Janelle Brown embraces single life after her divorce from Kody Brown – and she doesn’t want a new relationship anytime soon.
“First of all, I’m not interested in dating at all. I’m not even interested. I’m not watching,” Janelle, 54, said during the Sunday, November 12, episode Sister women. “I don’t even look at boys or men. It’s just blah blah. It’s too much work. I don’t want to do that.”
She further explained, “I don’t hang out where there’s a lot of single men or whatever. Certainly, [I’m] Especially if you don’t do online dating. I don’t understand the whole swiping thing. I do not understand that.”
Janelle noted that her aversion to a new romance could change over time. “If I was in a place where I really wanted to find someone again, I would probably have to think about it more,” she told the cameras.
Elsewhere in the episode, which was filmed in the summer of 2022, Janelle confessed that she didn’t want to “break” her spiritual marriage covenant with Kody, 54, “without knowing that God is totally cool with it.” She added that until then she was “waiting” for a sign about her future.
During the show, Janelle confided Christine Brown about the state of her marriage. Janelle explained that Kody hadn’t stayed at her house in “ten months” when they shot the scene. However, it wasn’t until December 2022 that Janelle publicly confirmed that she and Kody had “been separated for several months.”
Although Janelle did not consider herself married to Kody during the filming of season 18 of Sister women — and Christine left Kody in November 2021 — they lamented their choice to join the plural family first.
“I definitely knew I had to marry Kody. It was a strong spiritual witness. No regrets,” Christine, 51, said in a confessional during Sunday’s episode. “And when it was time to leave, it was time to leave. I knew without a doubt that it was time to go.”
Janelle echoed Christine’s take on their multiple relationships. “There was no doubt in my mind that I would marry that person,” she told the cameras. “I know I didn’t make a mistake by marrying him. I would do it all again.”
Janelle, who shares Logan29, Maddy27, Hunter26, Garrison25, Gabriel21, and Savannah18, with her estranged husband, noted that she never expected to leave Kody when they entered into their spiritual union in 1993.
“I didn’t think this stuff had an expiration date, but it seems like maybe our relationship did have an expiration date,” she concluded.
After Christine and Janelle’s respective divorces from Kody, his first wife, Meri Brown, confirmed in January that they had also ended their romantic relationship. Kody is still legally married to the fourth wife Robin Brownwho initially joined the family in 2010.
