A BRIDE-to-be has been mocked by her family after refusing to spend £40,000 on her big wedding day, which also includes a visit to a ‘nice pub’ for a meal.

According to the anonymous romantic, her family is ‘obsessed’ with weddings and the last time they were invited, her cousin reportedly spent an astronomical £40,000 on the occasion, which also had ‘over 100 guests’. .

But despite the ceremony looking beautiful on the outside, the bride-to-be didn’t enjoy the actual atmosphere of the day.

“It looked beautiful, but inside it was a big formal circus that I would never want and it caused so much stress.”

Now that they were planning their own big day, the Reddit user revealed that the couple decided to plan something a little less lavish and grand.

”Me and my fiancé just booked our wedding. There are 30 guests at our local registration office, just a simple ceremony and off to a nice pub for which we have booked a room and the garden.

“There will be no bridesmaids and groomsmen, no photographer and no speeches or anything like that.”

However, despite the duo’s wishes, their family isn’t too happy with the ‘simple’ wedding – and have even expressed their disapproval, the bride claimed in the mail.

”My family is not happy and keeps comparing it to my cousin’s and wondering why I am happy with such a simple wedding, and why I don’t want this extra thing or that extra thing.
