Lidl has reduced the price of the Russell Hobbs Compact Dehumidifier from €49.99 to just €24.99.

Not only are these great for drying your laundry in colder weather, but they are also ideal for tackling any issues with excess moisture in your home.

The handy gadget comes with a one-year warranty and reduces humidity in the home, which can cause moisture and condensation.

Its lightweight 0.9kg body makes it easy to move from room to room, so you can keep any space fresh and dry.

In addition, it works with a low-noise motor that ensures minimal disruption during use. So if you place it in your home office, you won’t even know it’s there.

Like most standard dehumidifiers, it has an auto shut-off feature that turns the machine off once the 600ml tank is full.

Customers have left the easy-to-use gadget rave reviews online.

One customer said: “For such a small machine it did a great job. Of course there are several units that cost more, but for the price this is fantastic.”

Another said: “Small quiet device that seems to work very well. Easy to use and empty. Helps reduce moisture when drying clothes indoors.”

“Small but works hard,” said another.

The same portable dehumidifier costs £59.99 in Currys and £49.99 in Dunelm.

Make sure you shop around for the best deal. Google Shopping, Price Spy, and Idealo are a great way to see how a product is performing price-wise.

Cheaper ways to tackle the problem

There are a few other things you can do to prevent mold in your home.

A non-electric dehumidifier is also an option, these small dehumidifiers can be found in many supermarkets and hardware stores.

Most supermarkets sell these online and in store for a few quid, Asda has one for £1.25.

B&M sells a £1.40 mold spray that can stop mould.

Or you can tackle the problem at the source. Mold is often caused by excess moisture in an enclosed space, so there are things you can do to prevent it from forming.

One of the easiest ways to prevent mold buildup is to open your windows every day to let in fresh air and keep the doors open between rooms.

Ensuring that air circulates continuously throughout your home will reduce condensation so mold cannot grow.

You should also open the cabinet doors regularly to let in fresh air and ensure mold isn’t growing in the cabinet.

Other things that can help include not letting your clothes dry on radiators and always cooking with ventilation.

What to do in extreme cases of mold and moisture

In extreme cases of moisture and mold, it is best to keep windows open to allow airflow. Consider using an anti-fungal treatment to address the problem.

You can call in an expert and if you are renting, talk to your landlord to resolve the problem.
