Supreme Court upholds abrogation of Article 370 of Indian Constitution, here’s what CJI DY Chandrachud said

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India has delivered judgment in the batch of petitions filed against the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The apex court has upheld the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India and CJI DY Chandrachud has said that the court stands by the fact that Article 370 is a ‘temporary provision’ and all provisions of the Constitution are applicable to Jammu and Kashmir . . Including the five-judge bench Judge Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Judge Sanjiv Khanna, Justice BR Gavai And Judge Surya Kant separate from CJI DY Chandrachud. While the Chief Justice of India has announced the final judgment in the case, the other judges are now giving their respective observations.

Article 370 Case: Judgment of the Supreme Court

As mentioned earlier, the Supreme Court has delivered the final judgment in the Article 370 case, in which petitions were filed against the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The apex court has upheld the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution of India, taken in 2019. The CJI has also said, ‘J&K does not possess any internal sovereignty after joining the Union of India’.
