This is the touching moment a bride who was getting married by proxy cried tears of joy as her groom made a surprise appearance at the altar.

Giovana Vital Senise da Silva, 26, from Brazil expected to tie the knot remotely via video call because her partner lives in the US.

Brazilian law recognizes proxy marriages when one partner is not present at the wedding.

But she couldn’t contain her joy when Danilo Alcoléa de Azevedo, 28, living in Florida, walked in and hugged his wife-to-be.

The sweet reunion last month was captured on TikTok by Giovana’s brother-in-law Ícaro Furlanetto (@icarofurlanetto) and has now been viewed approximately 1.8 million times.

“My sister-in-law thought she was marrying my brother by proxy because he was in the United States,” the caption on the video read.

‘During the ceremony we called via Facetime, but he “didn’t answer” and showed up surprised! It was beautiful!’

Viewers responded to the comment to express their joy, with one saying the gesture had left them in tears.

‘How beautiful!!’ someone commented. “I don’t think there is a more beautiful affection than crying with joy to be with someone.”

“Beautiful,” gushed a second.

A third added: ‘I’m crying like hell.’

A proxy marriage is a marriage where one or both people are not physically present.

It comes as a couple have revealed how they pulled off a surprise wedding in the comfort of their own home for a fraction of the cost – after luring their friends to join the ceremony with an invitation to a fake housewarming party.

Wedding photographers Elizabeth Hasier And Holden Blanco has seen quite a few weddings in their work, so they knew what they wanted and what they didn’t want when planning their own party.

Elizabeth in particular always knew she wanted her own wedding to be a unique and intimate affair – so she decided to have a surprise wedding in their living room, disguised as a housewarming.

The 27-year-old from Philadelphia and her current husband, Holden, originally planned to tie the knot in Colombia, where his extended family lives.

But after buying their first home in December and planning a housewarming, they had a better idea: combine the two celebrations.

“Marrying the love of my life in our living room was never the way I thought I would get married — but now I can’t imagine it any other way,” Elizabeth gushed in a TikTok video, sharing some of her wedding details. .

The bride explained that she wanted to avoid not meeting her guests’ expectations about her wedding, admitting that she found the thought ‘stressful’.

“You’re just putting all your taste on display in front of a hundred people and hoping they like it,” she said Insider.

Instead, the newlyweds, who dated for eight years before getting married, revealed they would “really win people over.” They decided on a sneaky surprise ceremony and celebration in July.

Elizabeth shared the moment they revealed to their 45 guests that they were actually having a surprise wedding instead of a housewarming in a now viral TikTok.

“We didn’t want to wait to get married,” the photographer can be heard in the video, which has been viewed more than 854,000 times.

“So we’re really getting married now.”
