‘A possible tour’ of King Charles to Australia later this year hardly seems like news to prompt us to string up the streamers or pop the streamers.

At any other time, such an unclear announcement from the Australian prime minister’s office might indicate that the king has only dampened interest in a foray into the colonies.

And only if His Royal Highness does not receive a better offer.

The past two weeks of royal woe have changed all that. At this point, the idea that Charles might – just might – make his first visit Down Under since becoming king is a bright light in an ocean of gloom.

Not only does it provide the first sign that the 75-year-old king’s cancer treatment could ultimately be successful, it also underlines how important the relationship between the two nations remains – for both sides.

The king will miss next Monday’s Commonwealth Day service as he continues to receive treatment, but he takes his role as head of the 56 member states very seriously.

He has even recorded a special message that will be broadcast around the world to mark the event.

In fact, his decision to go ahead with the planned trip to Australia speaks volumes of his desire to protect and maintain a shared relationship that, frankly, is vital to both parties – no matter how much bickering may have occurred along the way .

In the years leading up to Queen Elizabeth’s death in 2022, the conversation in Australia tended to assume that while we respected Her Majesty, the same affection would not be extended to her son.

Expectations grew that the country would break ties with the monarchy and be ruled by its own head of state.

Not that anyone knew what this might look like – which is partly why the referendum on a republic failed when it was voted on in 1999.

A quarter of a century later, the push for independence has never looked so weak.

Strangely enough, the crown-and-castle caper that we apparently wanted to throw overboard has been replaced by something that is somewhere between curiosity and respect.

Here, where the royal family is neither an institutional anchor nor a backdrop to everyday life, the pranks of recent years have largely served as entertainment.

As Megxit unfolded, we watched from a distance as if we were watching the Kardashians, only with crowns.

Yet Sussex’s defection did little to advance the republican cause.

Instead – and rather oddly – it seemed to anchor our allegiance to this trouble-ridden family with the aging matriarch, a gradually rehabilitated heir, his two motherless sons and their glamorous wives.

Duty, service and fortitude: those qualities we so admired in the woman who ruled for seventy years were suddenly thrown into stark relief by the antics of Harry and Meghan.

Here in the country where anyone with tickets for themselves is quickly targeted, the new king, his good-natured wife and the beautiful Welsh family seemed the epitome of dignity and tireless hard work.

Here where there is little respect for moaning or posturing, Harry’s hypocrisy of constantly bashing his family while still immersing himself in the titles and trappings it brings has not won him any fans.

Our loyalty to Britain is based on characteristics that are as traditional as they are modern: shared values, togetherness, democracy, loyalty, good-natured rivalry and – in these unsettling global times – a deep commitment to peace.

When the palace announced the king had cancer, even the Australian Republican Movement sent well wishes.

Announcing the “possible” royal visit yesterday, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese pointed out that King “has shown compassion for Australians affected by recent natural disasters, just as Australians have shown compassion and support for the King following his cancer diagnosis.”

“The King, Queen and members of the Royal Family are always welcome in Australia,” he said.

Post-cancer, Australia will be a soft landing place for the monarch who has admired the continent since he lived here as a schoolboy. He considers his time at Geelong Grammar to be one of the happiest times of his life and certainly the highlight of his education.

“Honestly, this was by far the best part,” he said in a speech years later. ‘I had knocked off the Pommy pieces. Like chips off an old block.’

Is it premature to announce a visit so soon after a cancer diagnosis?

Maybe there was no choice. Planning a tour can take many months, involving multiple state and territory groups.

It could even tie in with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa in October.

Whatever the case, it was probably only a matter of time before news of a visit leaked out.

No doubt the King is also keen to send out positive news, while strengthening the relationship with a nation that has stood side by side with Britain through wars, disasters and hotly contested sporting competitions.

Charles might even want to match his mother’s tally of 16 tours Down Under. So far he has visited fifteen times.

In terms of his itinerary, Victoria – the state where he enjoyed his time in Geelong – will likely feature, not only because he hasn’t been there since 2012, but also because illness, especially in later life, tends to think about voting.

Tasmania can also beckon with its beautiful scenery, sustainability projects and food culture. The cooler temperatures there would likely suit the queen, who struggled in the 40-degree heat during the couple’s 2018 visit to Queensland and the Northern Territory.

As for how they will be greeted, interest in the royal family remains high.

The Australian Women’s Weekly continues to publish detailed articles on the royal family and Sky News, which usually focuses on news and commentary, added a new weekly show, The Royal Report, early last year.

In the newsroom, the ranking of top-rated stories usually includes royal news in the top five.

Boisterous Australia has long offered what the royals crave: freedom from conformity, an easy-going outdoor lifestyle, egalitarian social networks and wide open spaces to exhale and reevaluate.

This is a big moment for the British monarchy, but also for the British nation – and Australia. After all, family counts for something.

He appeared on the broadcaster alongside Woods and Ian Wright, which had left fans in a dilemma as the BBC also had a heavy trio on their own show.

Keane’s brand of analysis is known and loved by many fans for being quite blunt in its delivery.

The football hardman is also not known for being particularly sympathetic towards players who are friendly to each other before the match.

Woods may have hoped to catch Keane as she highlighted Luton and Man City stars sharing a handshake in the Kenilworth Road tunnel.

Just before kick-off, Woods points to Keane: “Ross Barkley and Jack Grealish hug before the match.”

Keane responded in good form by saying: “Not for me. But we’re all different.”

Have you ever wondered what rich people get up to, away from prying eyes?

Well, a former passenger aboard the world’s most exclusive private residential ship has now told the truth about what’s really happening among some of the wealthy elite who choose to escape by taking to the high seas.

Peter Antonucci, who worked as a commercial litigator in New York City, lived for five years aboard the ship, which has a strict invitation-only policy.

The 64-year-old compared the ship, which has apartments for sale from around $2 million, to a student dormitory and claimed the exclusive community was steeped in heated clashes and dirty dealings. Affairs.

The houseboat, named The World, was launched in 2002 to offer a ‘lifestyle of luxury living adventure previously unthinkable’.

Peter first booked a trial trip on the ship with his wife Tami and was quickly seduced by almost every aspect: from the hospitable crew to the regulated itinerary.

Then the couple bought their first cruise ship condo in 2014 for a price in the region of $1.6 million and would spend up to eight months of the year on board.

Ultimately, they moved at various points during their tenure – after owning four separate apartments at different times – with the price tag rising to around $4 million.

The millionaires’ playground, which spans 200 meters and features twelve desks, is usually shrouded in secrecy, but Peter has since shared what really goes on behind closed doors.

He explained to DailyMail.com that he had better insight than most after being elected to The World’s Board of Directors.

“Any extreme conduct violations are brought to the attention of the board, so that’s what it comes down to,” Peter said.

‘I knew where all the skeletons could be found – I knew who slept with who, who attacked who, who stole… And of course I have two eyes and two ears. You see things and you feel things.’

He explained: ‘The dramas, stories and subplots didn’t all happen overnight – some took months or even years.

‘As residents, we sat lustily watching them brew. Many people on the ship were entranced by the gossip.

“The ship was powered more by rumor than by diesel.”

Elaborating further on the dynamics of the residents, Peter explained that there was a party ‘every day’.

“Here you have a small group of very successful, entitled people floating around in a steel basin in the middle of the ocean,” he said.

‘When you’re at sea for six, seven days, people just go from bar to bar, and what could go wrong?

“Have you had people crushed? Naturally. Have you had people dive into the pool fully clothed? Yes. Did they remain fully clothed? Not always.

“Have you had people using drugs? Of course you did it. Anytime you have a group of people, you get that stuff.”

Peter added: ‘A lot of the things I’ve seen on The World look somewhat like a student house.’

He not only drew parallels to the antics of college students, but also identified comparisons to HBO’s dark comedy The White Lotus.

The satirical drama follows a star-studded cast – including Jennifer Coolidge – as their affluent characters embark on sun-drenched vacations marred by affairs, hedonism and sinister secrets.

“To be clear, the people on the ship weren’t killing each other… it wasn’t that bad.

“But you had entitled owners yelling at staff when they couldn’t get their way and you had guests who were inappropriate, barely dressed and grinding against each other on the pool deck.”

Peter said: 'A lot of the things I've seen on The World are somewhat analogous to a student house'

He said there were also incidents of heated arguments, altercations and affairs that lasted “months or years” – even between residents and crew.

When asked how rule breakers were dealt with, Peter explained: ‘You can’t get rid of people straight away if they’re paying $5 million to buy on and they’re paying $5 million in maintenance fees every year.

“But there were protocols in place to deal with it.”

Peter, who kept a diary during his time on board, has done so ever since wrote three novels about a fictional ship – with titles such as Billionaire’s Paradise, Scandal at Sea: Billionaire’s In The Deep and Tides of Betrayal.

He claims his books are purely inspired by true events, but said he was initially shunned by other residents after they learned of his projects.

THe authorwho described himself as a provocateur, said: “People know I’m not afraid to say things.”

‘When I was writing the books, everyone was very worried and said, “I can’t believe you’re going to write this”, they ignored me, they wouldn’t talk to me and I was isolated.

‘Then the book came out and it was all fiction and they all came to me and said, “Why am I not in your book?”

A spokesperson for The World told DailyMail.com: ‘WWe had previously been in contact with Mr. Antonucci, who assured us in writing that his works have no connection with The World or its inhabitants, and that his publications are fictional works of art about a fictional ship.

‘We wish him every success with his creative works of fiction, which we understand have no relationship with De Wereld or any of its inhabitants.’

Peter left the ship in 2019, adding: 'I left because of two things. First of all, I had been around so long that I had seen the world a few times. Second, I was personally tired of the gossip, the rumors, and the cattiness.

There are 165 luxury homes on board The World, which travels to more than 100 destinations per year as part of an itinerary planned two to three years in advance, ranging from stylish studios to three-bedroom apartments.

They cost between $2 million and $15 million, not including annual ownership costs, but according to Business Insider, only a handful are resold each year.

Residents are reportedly allowed to make renovations and decorate according to their personal taste.

Most passengers on board are said to have an individual net worth of at least $10 million.

Peter told DailyMail.com that the demographic was ‘very international’, adding: ‘It skews towards almost exclusively retirees – over 80 per cent.

‘One of the things that’s impressive about the ship is that most of the inhabitants are self-made.

“They’re not trust fund babies, but that’s a good thing and a bad thing.”

He continued, “It’s a good thing because they understand what it’s like to build a business and develop something.

“But it can be a bad thing because they’ve never said no and when they have an idea they just go with it.”

Peter left the ship in 2019, adding: ‘I left because of two things.

‘First of all, I’d been around so long that I’d seen the world a few times. Secondly, I was personally tired of the gossip, the rumors and the cattiness.”

He now divides his time between Connecticut and Palm Beach, Florida.

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has said Belfast Marcus Rashford's Bender could act as a “wake-up call” to get the striker back to his best.

Solskjaer, who managed United between 2018 and 2022, has not given many interviews about the club since being sacked as manager.

Solskjaer hopes Rashford's drop can be a wake-up callCredit: Reuters

But he waded into the Rashford debate after the player was chastised by Erik ten Hag for visiting a nightclub in Belfast and then calling in sick for training.

He was left out of the squad for Manchester United's FA Cup fourth round trip away to Newport last month but has since returned to the starting XI.

The attacker scored on his return against Wolves and Erik ten Hag emphasized that the matter has now been settled.

Solskjaer told Reuters that the player's fouls could act as a catalyst to get the forward performing at a consistent level again.

Rashford scored a career-high 30 goals last season but has managed just six so far this campaign.

Solskjaer said: “Obviously I've managed Marcus for three years and I know him. It's not my job to discuss his performances but he was fantastic last season and it's about consistency in football.”

“Marcus and many others haven't reached the top this season. I'm sure he had a wake-up call last week and hopefully that will spur him on.

“Is it the manager's job to get the best out of him, or is it mainly the responsibility of himself or any player to get the best out of yourself? I think it's more.”

“He's had a fantastic career, with some ups and downs.

“Now we hope he will achieve that consistency because I know and we all know there is a top player. It is difficult to be at the top all the time, but it takes sacrifice.”

Marcus Rashford 'acts like an idiot' and thinks football is a 'chore' as Roy Keane says: 'Forget watches and cars'

Solskjaer breaks his silence on Rashford after Gareth Southgate also said he is keeping a close eye on his England players before choosing his next England squad.

When asked about Rashford's partying, Southgate said: “We are five weeks away from choosing a squad. So much happens to players in the period between November and March that we always keep an eye on everything on and off the field.

“In a few weeks we will have to make decisions about the entire team and a lot of attention will be paid to that, because it is the last team before the European Championship.”

He also confirmed he had not yet spoken to Rashford about his off-field crimes, saying: “I haven't spoken to many of our players at all since December. I let them get on with their club football.

“Generally they are back from their clubs and it is not for me to interfere.”

Taylor Swift found a subtle way to show she agreed by Jason Kelce Shirtless antics during the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Buffalo Bills.

The pop star, 34, took to social media on Wednesday, January 24, to “like” an Instagram clip of Jason, 36, friend Travis Kelce about the event on Sunday, January 21 during the most recent episode of their podcast 'New Heights'.

The clip, which was posted via the official “New Heights” Instagram account, in which the siblings discussed Jason's decision to strip down in the cold after watching Travis, 34, score a touchdown in the first quarter.

“You celebrated my touchdown by taking off your shirt, screaming, jumping out of the suite and chugging a beer with the fans [and] and then jumped back into the suite,” Travis recalled, noting that he watched the viral moment afterwards and could confirm it was “pure pandemonium.”

CBS The Kansas City Chiefs had an epic cheer squad as they battled the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 21, and Us Weekly is rounding up the best moments from the Kelce suite in case you missed it. Taylor Swift joined Travis Kelce's immediate family, including brother Jason Kelce and sister-in-law Kylie […]

While Travis said he wanted more “cameras” for Jason's wife, Kylie Kelcein the suite to get her reaction, Jason confessed to giving her a “head-up” before actually jumping out the window in the “death of winter.”

“The moment we walked into that suite, I thought, 'I'm going to take off my shirt and jump out of that suite,'” he recalls telling Kylie, 31, to which he claims his wife responded, “Don't you dare.”

According to Jason, Kylie – who he married in 2018 – gave him a warning to “be on his best behavior” before the game as she knew the couple would be seeing Swift. However, Jason refuted her warning, arguing, “Kylie, the first time I met you I was drunk and fell asleep at the bar, this is part of the charm. … This is my best first impression and this is my best opportunity.”

Sunday's match marked the first time Jason and Kylie met Swift since the singer started dating Travis in the summer of 2023. While Swift was spotted around the country supporting Travis and Chiefs games – often with Travis' parents, Donna And Ed Kelce — Jason and Kylie have been busy due to Jason's own NFL season with the Philadelphia Eagles. When the Chiefs and Eagles had their post-Super Bowl LVII showdown in November 2023, Swift was unable to attend due to a rescheduled game. Eras tour concert in Brazil.

The wait was apparently worth it, as Travis said during Thursday's podcast that Swift was a huge fan of Jason's and told his brother, “Tay absolutely loved you.”

Sure enough, footage found via social media from Sunday's game showed Swift and Jason high-fiving as they watched the Chiefs beat the Bills 27-24. Jason also spotted a young Swift fan in the crowd during the game and brought her up to the Grammy winner for a quick hello.

“We're going to show this to Taylor,” Jason said in footage shared to social media, as he brought the fan to the suite window to wave to Swift, who returned the gesture.

The characteristics of a competent employee include a thorough work ethic and, most importantly, attention to detail.

However, we’ve all been there when the day seems to drag on and our patience runs thin, as we become desperate to finish the task at hand.

People from all over the world have shared hilarious images of workers passing by and hoping to get off the clock after hitting the bare minimum.

Collected by Bored Pandathe comedic transgressions range from a few innocent accidents to clearly intentional ‘mistakes’.

The Crown star Dominic West has admitted he fell out with Prince Harry after he “said too much” at a press conference on their return from a charity trip to Antarctica before they spoke no more.

West accompanied the Duke of Sussex on an ambitious journey when they both took part in the Walking With the Wounded charity event in 2013.

At a ‘welcome home’ press conference attended by West, he told how the then 29-year-old Prince had skills that helped the Commonwealth team on the journey, including mucking out to help build the latrines.

But after being asked how the team celebrated the end of the trip, West admitted that Harry drank champagne from a prosthetic leg and made “eye-wateringly crude jokes.”

He says Prince Harry did not speak to him after the press conference, although the duke previously admitted to watching The Crown, which stars West Charles.

The Wire actor told the press conference at the time that Harry was ‘a very cool guy, very much part of the team’.

He continued, “He often reached the rendezvous point before the rest of his men and built these incredibly lavish crenellated latrines, with battlements and toilet paper holders.

‘It took him at least 40 minutes to build, they were just fantastic. I often sat on the latrine and thought, ‘This is a royal flush in every sense!’

‘Harry also helped me a lot when I had problems with my skis in the beginning. He was a great guy.’

But when he was pushed during the celebration of reaching the South Pole, West made a mistake.

He said: ‘Two of the Aussie lads stripped off and ran around the post, but most of us, including Harry, just went out for two days with the Icelandic truck drivers who had brought with them a deadly homebrew.

‘A lot of liquor was drunk.

“We all drank champagne from Duncan’s (Slater, a double amputee who was injured in Afghanistan in 2009 and was part of the British team) favorite prosthetic legs.”

West added, “Well, he told some blindingly crude jokes that were quite shocking to a non-soldier like me!”

West told Times Radio on Sunday: ‘We kind of [lost touch because] I said too much at a press conference, and we haven’t spoken since.”

He added: “I think I was asked what we were doing. [And] what we did to celebrate when we got there and [I] probably said too much.’

Prince Harry remained formally present at the 2014 press conference, saying: ‘Inspiring others is one of the cornerstones of this charity.

“To show those who have suffered life-changing injuries that anything is still possible.

“That this truly incredible achievement from everyone behind me… will remind everyone that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

‘Our wounded, wounded and sick [servicemen] they just want to be treated the same way they were before they were injured. With respect.

‘For some the journey may be more challenging and it is up to us to make it as easy as possible for them. We can do that with training, with work, or even with adventure.

“If anyone has the opportunity to give these boys and girls a leg up in terms of employment, please do so. You will have no regrets.’

His teammate Duncan Slater added: “Harry was a real team player. There was always something to do and he always encouraged it.

‘There were so many gusts of wind. He probably spread himself quite thin. He spent time with every team every day.

“He always made sure to blend in, bringing everyone to the forefront. It was a lot of fun because he was just as tired as everyone else. ‘

Referring to the champagne antics, he said: ‘We decided to use my legs as a primitive ice bucket. I don’t know why we did it, but we did it!’

During the 2013 Walking With The Wounded Virgin Money South Pole Allied Challenge, soldiers skied 330 kilometers through some of the most inhospitable conditions known to man, with temperatures as low as minus 50 degrees and biting winds.

Each man and woman – some of whom were double amputees – also had to pull a custom-made pool sled, known as a pulk, weighing more than 11 stone, with their equipment in hand.

The terrain was so challenging that organizers were forced to suspend the racing element of the tour and group all participants together for safety.

The teams spent a total of four weeks in Antarctica, including the acclimatization period and the end of the expedition. The trek started on December 1 and the teams reached the South Pole on Friday, December 13.

Prince Harry celebrated their arrival, declaring: “I think we’ll have a few whiskeys tonight!”

Prince Louis once again stole the show at Trooping the Color over the weekend, and as one surfaced clip has shown, he may have learned his funny balcony antics from his dad.

The young royal, five, waved energetically to fans during the traditional balcony performance at Buckingham Palace to mark the King’s official birthday.

A clip shared by the Instagram Royal Children’s account at the time of the coronation revealed that the Prince of Wales was just as animated as his youngest son when he was the same age.

The adorable clip showed the king’s son as a five-year-old, standing on the balcony with his mother, the late Princess Diana, and his father, then Prince of Wales, at Trooping the Color 1987.

While the heir to the throne is now a polished member of the royal family, as a young boy he was up to exactly the same antics as his son, energetically waving and pointing to crowds and giving the planes the cutest military salute.

Prince Louis stole the show with his antics on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during Trooping the Color – but an unearthed video of Prince William at the same age showed the young prince striking the exact same poses

All eyes were on Prince Louis on Saturday as he put on an animated show fans have come to expect from him.

The budding royal waved, covered his ears and mimicked a motorcycle starting up while on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with his parents and siblings.

At one point, the young prince was seen screaming and pointing to the sky with enthusiasm, while his older siblings, Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, eight, acted much more subdued.

These antics have made Louis a favorite among royal fans and have led to him standing out at every major royal event he’s attended since his late great-grandmother’s anniversary party last year.

However, it turns out that Prince William was just like his son when he was the same age, proving that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

An unearthed clip showed the heir to the throne as a young boy, attending Trooping the Color with the rest of the royal family.

You can see young William making funny faces, waving to crowds, yelling, pointing to the sky and even mimicking an archer throwing arrows at the sky.

Just as Kate Middleton had to gently tell her young son to curb his enthusiasm on Saturday, Princess Anne can be seen leaning over to her young cousin and whispering soothing words in his ear, as he proceeds to give a military salute.

The clip, taken on Trooping the Color in 1987 and resurfaced by a royal fan, showed William, aged five, giving a military salute

Prince Louis regularly steals the show with his funny reactions and unfiltered poses.

The five-year-old was in good shape as he traveled to Horse Guards Parade in a carriage with Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte, 8, on Saturday.

They were joined by the Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla, but that didn’t stop Louis from pulling off his usual antics at the King’s Birthday Parade.

One moment, the youngest Welsh child was covering his nose and mouth in what is considered disgust, after catching a whiff of horse dung.

A photo of the unexpected moment showed the five-year-old pinching his nose with one of his hands.

Some 70 aircraft from the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force took part in the six-minute spectacle.

Crowds gathered below as the Hurricane and Spitfire jets took to the skies and hovered over Buckingham Palace.

Eighteen Typhoon fighter jets also belted out ‘CR’ for Charles Rex in a mesmerizing display – with ‘Rex’ referring to King in Latin.

A squadron of Red Arrows then ended the event when they emitted red, white and blue smoke over London.

On Saturday morning Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis traveled with their mother the Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla to the Horse Guards Parade for the Trooping the Colour.

They waved enthusiastically to thousands of spectators who gathered outside Buckingham Palace and on The Mall, as the King and Prince of Wales traveled on horseback.

Saturday marked the first time a monarch had ridden a horse at Trooping the Color since Queen Elizabeth’s Burmese horse carried her to the ceremony in 1986.

Airplane strange! Travelers share bizarre airport antics that made them look twice

Airports can be chaotic and stressful, with people trying to get in and out as quickly as possible.

However, they are also inundated with unusual sights – and a few observant vacationers have taken the time to capture them.

Bored panda has collected images from around the world of some of the most hilarious things travelers have seen in airports.

Among the odd snaps are a “Welcome home Michelle, I know you cheated” sign, a fake power outlet, and even a “pet shelter” where animals that need to go can go.
