IPHONE users have praised a trick that can make watching videos so much better.

The Apple fans took to Reddit to comment on a post sharing the trick.

iPhone users can benefit from a lesser-known video tipCredit: Alamy

It’s on a popular Reddit thread called r/iphone.

The thread is described as a place for iPhone enthusiasts and often features tips and tricks and discussion of other Apple topics.

It currently has approximately four million members.

“What’s your most useful iPhone SHORTCUT ever tried?” wrote an iPhone user who started the thread.

“I think I underestimate this app. But sometimes I struggle to create real shortcuts that are useful in everyday life.

“Do you have any specific use cases that you find useful?” they asked.

The user refers to Shortcuts, an app that can be found on every iPhone.

“The app lets you combine multiple steps across multiple apps to create powerful task automation.

Most read in Phones and gadgets

“Shortcuts can automate a wide variety of things, like getting directions to the next appointment on your calendar, moving text from one app to another, generating expense reports, and more.

“Based on how you use your Apple devices – your app usage and your browser, email and message history – Siri suggests simple, useful shortcuts that you can quickly tap to execute.

“Once you create a shortcut, you can activate Siri and then speak the shortcut’s name to run it,” Apple explains his website.

Many iPhone users revealed how they had used the Shortcuts app in the comments of the Reddit post.

“Use it to automatically disable the rotation lock when opening apps that play full-screen video in portrait orientation,” one person wrote.

This was the most popular comment and was supported by 35 votes from other users.

iPhone tricks to try today

Here are some of the best…

  • Type cursor – Press and hold the spacebar while typing to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, making it easier to move through words and sentences
  • Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapping squares in the bottom right corner and press Close All Tabs
  • Delete many photos quickly – Press and hold a photo and drag your finger diagonally in Photos to select many images at once. Then press Delete
  • Exchange currencies quickly – Swipe down from the top of your home screen, then tap the bar and type a currency (e.g. €200) and it will automatically convert to your local currency
  • Check if you need a battery upgrade – Batteries in smartphones deteriorate over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Status and view the maximum capacity. In general, a battery is considered worn out if its capacity is less than 80%. If you are below, you can purchase a battery change from Apple
  • Move apps faster – Hold an app until it starts to wiggle, then tap (while still holding) other apps, which will stack them so you can move them around more easily

“Does this automation include enabling the rotation lock when closing the app again? That would be BLOODY brilliant,” someone replied.

“Yes, that’s possible. If you go to automations and create a separate rule for when it opens and when it closes.

“I set it up for the photo app. Let me know if you need any help,” the tipper replied.

“I’ve never had any issues with the screen rotating when I wasn’t supposed to so it’s interesting to see what kind of issues other people face as everyone uses their phones a little differently than each other lol,” replied another person.

A SAVVY shopper has revealed the clever hack she uses to score a ridiculous bargain on her weekly food shop.

The lucky customer managed to pack €15 worth of groceries for just €3.76, making her final bill 75 percent cheaper.

Her amazing hack revolves around getting your hands on the iconic yellow sticker products that often come with huge discounts.

Among the items were an array of delicious looking desserts, tasty sandwiches and even a loaf of bread.

One of the biggest blockbuster discounts came from the lemon sponge with fresh cream which scanned for just £0.75 at the checkout, having originally cost £3.

But the biggest reduction came from the ready-made baguettes that you can normally get with the meal deal.

read more in bargain deals

Normally costing hungry shoppers a pricey £3, a ham and coleslaw and a baguette with prawn mayonnaise came to a mouthwatering £0.30.

The great bargain store was posted on the Latest Deals, Extreme Couponing & Bargains Facebook group.

A photo of all the cheap items was posted next to the caption: “I’m getting some great bargains tonight with yellow stickers at Morrisons.”

Many impressed people responded to the post, causing it to gain a lot of attention online.

One wrote: “I love a yellow sticker lol.”

As another said: “Yummy. Enjoy. I love yellow stickers. I have returned some toilet rolls as one is missing.”

My husband loves a bargain and I was blown away by his latest mega haul from Morrisons – I don’t think I’ve ever seen a chicken priced so cheaply

Before a third simply said: “Yummm.”

WHAT’S IN THE BASKET?

  • Dessert with strawberries and chocolate €0.90
  • Lemon sponge with fresh cream €0.75
  • Mini donuts €0.30
  • Cream chocolate cherry muffins €0.63
  • Salt and Pepper Bloomer £0.32
  • Baguette with ham and coleslaw £0.30
  • Baguette with shrimp mayonnaise €0.30
  • Chicken sandwich sandwich £0.26

You can often save up to 75% on items with yellow stickers – they are reduced so supermarkets can shift stock quickly.

More and more shoppers are starting to look out for the famous yellow stickers when they’re out and about, as they look to combat the cost of living that puts pressure on budgets.

It was revealed that post-Covid households have been warned that grocery bills have risen by £271 a year.

Figures show that the price of some essential items has risen by 37 percent.

An ex-Morrisons employee dubbed ‘Yellow Sticker Man’ previously shared his secrets to getting the best deals every time.

Al Baker, 48, from Aldershot, worked in the supermarket for just over two years and was responsible for driving down the price of food nearing its sell-by date.

His top tips for perfecting your bargain hunt include choosing the right time, going as a group and even using a special app called Too Good To Go.

The amazing app allows shoppers to get ridiculous deals.

The app works by letting stores list surplus food that would only be thrown away at heavily discounted prices.

You can purchase a “mystery bag” of treats, which usually contains staples such as fruits, vegetables, and bread.

Al said: “It’s a good way to save money, but it’s popular so you have to act quickly to get them.”

WITH the Easter holidays approaching, parents will be pulling their hair out wondering what affordable fun there is to have with the kids.

Especially after the announcement earlier this month that Britain is officially in recession, forcing under-pressure households, particularly those on benefits, to cut back on spending.

But that doesn’t mean you have to stay home with the kids this Easter.

This savvy mom shares her school holiday hacks for parents on her TikTok page @missanderson76 .

The mum-of-one shares this specific hack for parents who receive Universal Credit and other eligible benefits so they can take advantage of discounts to ensure the kids don’t miss out on the fun.

Her latest vacation hack is a trip to ZSL London Zoo for only €3 per child.

While sharing the good news with other parents on her TikTok, she confessed, “Mommy knows best.”

“£3 tickets,” she exclaims. ‘But that’s only if you qualify.

“If not, go with someone who is.”

To qualify for the discounted tickets to ZSL London Zoo, you must be receiving low income benefits such as Universal Credit, Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support or Jobseeker’s Allowance.

Tickets must be reserved in advance via ZSL website in advance and proof of benefit must be presented upon arrival.

The general admission price for a child to visit London Zoo is usually £23.10 and a whopping £33 for each adult.

But with this reduced rate, a family of four can enjoy a trip to the zoo for less than £20 this Easter.

A ticket for adults costs €5 and for a child only €3.

Flaco the owl found dead a year after escaping from Central Park enclosure, as zoo ‘hopes NYPD will make an arrest’

The best part is that ZSL isn’t the only place you can get the deal.

Other attractions that offer a reduced rate for low-income families include the The tower of London offering tickets for a family of six for just £1 each.

And many museums also offer similar savings.

Did you know that you can get unlimited access to the London Transport Museum for a whole year, for just £1, if you receive Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit or Employment and Support Allowance?

This clever mom’s followers were thrilled with the hacks they never knew about.

Someone commented: “Brilliant savings.”

Another said: “Thank you so much. It’s time they started doing this, not everyone can pay £50 each just to see the animals.”

Shelby (@shelbyadrift) showed off her tiny house in a video in a TikTok video.

“No one will know,” she joked.

She sat at the foot of her stairwell and lifted the top of the bottom step to show that she had stored her shoes inside.

When she entered her bedroom, she lifted a sheet to expose a hole in the side of her bed.

“Litter box hidden in the storage bench/lounge,” she said, as her cat walked outside after doing his business.

Instead of having a separate storage area for extra bedding and clothing, Shelby found a better use for it.

She filled her decorative cushions with the clothes to boost the interior and save space.

Last but not least, Shleby ventured into her kitchen, revealing a hidden vent where she kept her cooking utensils.

“Faux range hood for appliances, cookware, etc.,” she said, revealing a microwave and spice drawer.

“How would they know?” she joked.

I couldn't afford a house, so I live in a shed in my friend's field. I have to go to the toilet in a tent, but people think I'm living the dream

People shared their thoughts on her storage saving tricks.

“The decorative pillow!” said one impressed commentator.

“Linen in the pillow! Genius!” another agreed.

“The kissing just blew my mind,” said a third.

Securing a job at Google is a difficult task for even the most qualified professionals. It's said to be ten times harder than getting a job at Harvard, and two million people apply every year.

However, Mariana Kobayashi overcame the odds and secured a position as Account Executive in the Dublin office, despite having previously been rejected, thanks to her creative approach to her application.

After Mariana was fired from LinkedIn, she applied for a position at Google in June last year take a short recording clamp to explain why she was right for the role despite being somewhat underqualified.

According to Business insiderit took Mariana ten hours to make the clip, but it paid off when she was offered a role at the prestigious company.

Mariana Kobayashi (pictured) landed an Account Executive role at Google after submitting a creative video resume that took ten hours to produce

Mariana included all the information typically found in a resume and cover letter, but presented it in a fresh format to stand out from the crowd.

She explained in the application: 'I'm Mariana, I've just applied for CSA, Dublin. I'll tell you in one minute why I'm going to make your life easier, so watch until the end.

“I applied with the referral of someone who works with the team,” she continued.

Speaking in Spanish to highlight her language skills, she added, “In case you haven't seen my application yet, I thought I could help you.”

Elaborating on her experience, the Account Executive continued: “I think everything in life is sales, and so I founded my first pancake company at the age of 14, which allowed me to self-fund international education and entrepreneurial pursuits, which led to opportunities. '

She then listed her experiences from previous roles, before giving some general information about herself.

“I'm half Portuguese, a quarter Lebanese and a quarter Japanese,” she said. Mariana continued, “They are all high-context cultures. So instead of describing myself, I asked some Google and LinkedIn friends to describe me in one word. '

The video then showed clips of Mariana's friends associating her with words like “a light,” “charismatic,” and “a visionary.”

Mariana was previously rejected by Google, so she developed the video to stand out from the crowd

Mariana then concluded, “I hope you will reply to this email so we can get to know each other and see what we can build together.”

She then sent the video directly to Google's hiring manager.

Mariana also uploaded the video to YouTube, alongside the caption: “If you're going to apply to a dream company, make it fun.”

The clip quickly caused a storm online and has since been viewed more than 25,000 times.

Speaking to Business Insider, she revealed: 'A lot of people contacted me offering coffee calls and letting me know about features'

“Then the recruiter for the position contacted her, and I called her.”

After submitting her application, Mariana went through a three-step interview process before being offered a position at Google's Dublin office

After submitting her application, Mariana went through a three-step interview process before being offered a position at Google's Dublin office

Initially, Mariana was told she was too qualified for the role, but she continued to contact the hiring manager to check for different roles.

Two months later she saw the role of Account Executive and applied immediately.

“It was a very targeted application, so I think that made me stand out, and because the recruiter was already kind of on my side, that helped,” she said.

Once she secured an interview spot, Mariana developed two documents.

One document outlined her gaps in her experience, and another explained how she was going to change that.

Mariana then underwent assessments and further interviews.

A month after the application process was completed, she received the good news that she had gotten the job.

Now the Account Executive has encouraged others to follow in her footsteps and get creative with job applications.

Casey and Savannah (@heywanderer) filmed the house in a video posted on TikTok.

“Here are four things in our little house that make our lives a little easier,” she said.

First, she filmed a custom vertical drawer with shelves to make room for kitchen items.

The besties also had a good solution to optimize space for a cooking area.

“To make better use of the space, we opted to use a solo cooktop instead of a full oven,” she said.

“This allows us to still have four burners while taking up much less space,” she added.

The tiny house kitchen clearly hasn't skimped on pastries, even removing a popular appliance to create more space.

“We still needed a way to bake and roast, so we bought this toaster oven that does a lot of different things,” she said.

“As a result, we also had to get rid of our separate air fryer,” she added.

Making the most of space in the small house didn't stop at appliances, cabinets and drawers; the couple also took advantage of the ceiling.

A new tiny home 'windward' village opens – you don't have to pay rent for your own home, but you have to meet X requirements

“We keep all our baskets in the air because when you live small, you have to go vertical,” she said.

She added that living in a small house requires thinking outside the box a bit.

“Living small means being creative with your space,” she added.

The video attracted even more tiny house enthusiasts who shared their thoughts in the comments section.

“Love the vertical roll-out storage for the kitchen as she first mentions,” one person wrote.

With a few tricks, your buds can be the gift that keeps on giving. . .

STAY FRESH: Keep your fresh flowers going for as long as possible by removing dead or rotting stems and changing the water in the vase about every three days.

Make sure leaves and other foliage are above the water line to prevent contamination.

DRY OUT: Before roses turn brown, you can dry them so they last long after the day of romance.

READ MORE MONEY SAVING TIPS

Simply remove the leaves and tie the stems together at the bottom with string.

You can then hang the flowers upside down in a dark, dry place for about two to three weeks.

Once they have dried out, you can display them in a vase, just as you would with a fresh bunch.

Be careful when handling them as they are more fragile.

BATH TIME: Once your roses start to wilt, you can use them as part of a luxurious pampering session.

Florist Kathy Muir, who works for bath and beauty brand Lush, says: “Petals from an old bouquet make a beautiful addition to the bath and will continue the romance beyond Valentine's Day.”

Rose petals are linked to relaxation and adding a few petals to an evening of enjoyment makes you feel extra special.

Or you can make special bath salts with rose petals, which also makes a nice gift.

Dry them out first by leaving them on a baking sheet for a few days and then tear or blend them into small pieces.

Mix with a few cups of Epsom salt – a 1kg bag costs £3 at Sainsbury's.

Add a few drops of essential oils to the mixture. Lavender and rose essential oils both work well.

It comes amid something of an advertising boom lately, with ads now appearing on Amazon Prime Video as of this week.

Ads have been common on the Amazon Fire Stick for a while, but an ad that appears when people turn on the device is a recent addition.

And viewers are especially bothered by how loud it is.

“Nobody brought up the fact that the Amazon Fire Stick has been updated and now when you turn on your TV, you turn on the Fire Stick, it automatically plays a loud ad,” TikToker fumed. Brittany.

“Now I go to turn on my TV, and I turned the volume up to 30 because I was watching a quiet movie and now this loud ad is like playing, it scares me, it scares the cats.

'Why did they think that was a good idea?

“That's absolutely ridiculous. In no world would anyone want an ad to play as soon as they turn on the TV.

“That's the whole reason we don't have cable anymore guys, it's so we don't have ads.”

One commenter replied: “I'm going to throw mine away as soon as I know what to replace it with. Apple TV?”

Owners of Amazon Fire Sticks have discovered a neat trick to control their TVs

While it's not possible to prevent the ad from appearing altogether, other TikTok users have revealed a trick that will at least keep them from being noisy videos.

How to Disable Video Ads on Amazon Fire Stick

You can prevent the video ad from appearing on the Amazon Fire Stick, but a static ad will appear instead.

This may not be the solution that gadget owners were hoping for, but at least there won't be any sound coming out of it from now on.

Follow these steps to disable the startup video ad:

  1. Go to the Institutions menu
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Tap on Featured content
  4. Switch the Allow video autoplay option

Motorists are in awe of a 'pump and flick' trick to free frozen car doors and bonnets.

American car expert @RoadsideGenius used TikTok to guide his followers through the method step by step, so that freezing temperatures don't get in the way of their commute.

The simple trick will be music to the ears of many Brits who have spent the past few days battling frozen vehicles before heading to work or school.

Yesterday, Britain shook on the coldest January night in five years and the coldest so far this winter.

Temperatures fell well below zero as snowstorms hit some areas in Britain.

American car expert. @RoadsideGenius revealed the step-by-step method to unlock the door or hood of your frozen car – and all you need is an inflatable lockout bag

Dalwhinnie in the Highlands endured -14C (6.8F), while Edinburgh and Newcastle experienced sub-zero temperatures of -7C (19F) and -6C (21F) respectively.

The big frost made it the coldest night so far this winter, better than the minimum temperature of -12.5 degrees Celsius recorded at Altnaharra in Sutherland on December 3.

The Met Office has also issued an amber weather warning in north-west Scotland for 3pm today and 6pm tomorrow.

The content creator shared the handy winter tip, saying: 'I'm going to show you guys a trick you can do to make your hood pop up.'

He then pulled out an inflatable lockout bag and carefully placed it into the small opening on the hood of his freezing car.

The TikToker took his time and steadily inflated the bag until the hood made a distinct “pop” sound.

He explained, “Now we can go in and find some kind of lock! Surely there's one they all have.'

The cold trick can also be used on car doors that are frozen shut.

Viewers responded to the comments and expressed their gratitude, with one writing: “You taught me something lol.”

According to the content creator, gently place the lockout bag into a gap between the hood or door of your car and gently inflate the device until you hear a clear

RoadSideGenius joked, “Knowledge is power.”

Not everyone was happy with the trick, however, as one follower – who didn't have a lockout bag – asked for alternatives.

A woman asked, “Okay, I don't have one [inflatable lockout bag] and it's -40. Do you have anything else?'

The content creator jokingly responded, “Break the window.”

However, a frozen car door or hood is not the only challenge for drivers on a cold morning drive.

Frozen car windows can be a real challenge when you're in a hurry to get out of the house in freezing weather.

There are numerous ways you can melt the ice from your windscreen, but drivers should be wary as you could be fined £80.

In an attempt to get rid of the ice, many drivers may increase the temperature of their car to melt it – but this would be a big mistake.

Running the engine while a car is stationary is also known as 'idling' and is contrary to rule 123 of the Highway Code.

The rule states: 'You must not leave a parked vehicle unattended with the engine running, or leave the engine of a vehicle running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public highway.'

Users took to the comments to thank the content creator for the tip, while others were frustrated that the method required an inflatable lockout bag

WHAT IS THE AA'S ADVICE FOR DEMOUNTING YOUR CAR?

Get up at least 10 minutes earlier so you have time to prepare the car.

Don't drive off like a tank commander with a small hole in the windshield.

Clean all windows with a scraper and defroster. Use a cigarette lighter to heat up a key from a frozen lock.

Plan routes giving preference to main roads that are more likely to be cleared and gritted.

Plan extra time for winter travel, but be prepared for the inevitability of being late to work due to unexpected delays.

It also stipulates that the engine must be turned off if the vehicle has been driven for more than a few minutes to reduce emissions.

But it is not against the rules to leave the engine running in stationary traffic or when diagnosing vehicle malfunctions.

If you are idling to get rid of your ice you are breaking the law, specifically section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1998, and could therefore be fined £80.

Failure to pay the fine within 14 days could also result in a £40 fine on top of the existing £80 fine.

One of the highlights for Delta this year was announcing her engagement to longtime partner and guitarist Matthew Copley in September.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, Delta, 39, shared her excitement about the opportunity to work with Matt on her upcoming Christmas special airing on Channel Nine.

“My fiancée worked very hard on the Christmas special, so you will see him there too,” she said.

“We just really love being creative on these shows and working as a team.

The singer said it was a blessing that she and Matt got to work together so often.

The couple’s collaborative spirit doesn’t stop there: they’ve launched ATLED productions to channel their collective creativity into more projects.

“I’m so lucky that we’ve been able to work together and make music for so long, and obviously the band is such a great band and everyone is such a team,” she said.

Looking back on 2023, Delta called it exciting and meaningful, especially mentioning the Innocent Eyes tour, which she described as a “special full-circle moment.”

Looking ahead, she expressed her excitement to “rock the year ahead.”

Delta announced her engagement news in September, sharing a sweet photo of the couple on holiday in Malta before showing off her stunning diamond ring.

“My best friend asked me to marry him,” Delta giddily captioned the image, alongside a ring emoji.
