The latest is Hollywood star Cameron Diaz, who is very happily married to rock star husband Benji Madden.

The 51-year-old star revealed she believes society should ‘normalise’ couples sleeping in separate rooms and even separate houses.

The actor shared her take on “sleep separation” on an episode of model Molly Sims’ podcast, as they chatted about what they consider a healthy lifestyle.

“We need to normalize separate bedrooms,” Diaz said before explaining her reasoning with Sims and co-host Emese Gormley.

“For me, I would literally say, I have my house, you have yours,” she admitted. ‘We have the family house in the middle. I’m going to sleep in my room. Just go to sleep in your room. I’m fine.’

“And in the middle we have the bedroom where we can gather for our relationships,” the mother of one concluded.

While Diaz has taken pains to point out that she does indeed share a bed with Madden, she isn’t the only one who thinks a sleep separation could provide future-proof relationship happiness.

As the health benefits of good sleep quality are increasingly heralded by doctors, it seems that more and more people who are happy together are choosing to sleep alone.

Many members of the royal family traditionally slept in separate rooms; with King Charles and Queen Camilla reportedly retreating to their own rooms late at night, as the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip once did.

It is also thought that the Prince and Princess of Wales slept separately when they lived at Kensington Palace.

Actress Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton lived happily in separate homes for 13 years before divorcing in 2014 – in neighboring townhouses in London.

And TV star Susannah Constantine admitted earlier this year that she had had a sleep split with husband Sten Bertelsen, saying an ongoing war over who snored ‘the loudest and longest’ had led them to use separate beds.

In an article for MailOnline last month, the stylist wrote how tackling nighttime nuisance had helped ‘fix’ her marriage, saying: ‘We have now thrown in the towel and retreated to separate rooms.

‘I know there’s a stigma about this, but please don’t get me wrong: I love my husband dearly.

She explained: ‘My parents always slept in separate rooms and as a teenager I assumed it was because their marriage was on the rocks. But now I think it’s much more likely that my father’s snoring was the cause.

‘When Sten and I started our sleep separation, I was afraid that our children – aged 24, 22 and 20 – would also think this was the beginning of the end; but in reality, I told them, it was the snoring storms that were putting a strain on the marriage. This was the solution, not the problem.’

There is no escaping the science, says sleep expert and board advisor at Dozy Sleep, Korina Burkhard.

‘People sleep better alone due to less disruptions from a partner and the ability to create an ideal sleep environment.

‘If you sleep alone, you are less likely to be disturbed by someone else’s movements or sounds. Your sleep cycles are not interrupted. This allows the brain and body to fully progress through the essential stages of sleep. You rest better and recover better.’

Kora Habinakova, a sleep expert at Sleepseeker, told MailOnline that we also need to stop thinking about falling asleep alone as a negative for a partnership.

She said: ‘A sleep divorce is a divisive topic and people often associate it with the breakdown of a relationship, but that is not the case. Sharing a bed with someone can often lead to a restless night’s sleep, and a sleep separation may even be the key to improving your relationship.

‘Persistent poor sleep patterns can cause irritability, mood swings and reduced communication and problem solving, all of which can put a strain on your relationship.

‘So if you find yourself losing sleep because of you or your partner’s habits, sleeping separately can be the perfect way to help you both feel more rested and actually reduce conflict.’

What about intimacy? Although many assume that sleeping apart is not conducive to a healthy sex life, Habinakova says that sleep and sex are very different things.

“There are many ways you can maintain intimacy while doing a sleep separation, and many find that the separation actually helps with intimacy because each partner is better rested and less irritable.”

She advises: ‘The most important tip is to prioritize your time, this could be anything from having a meal or spending time in bed together before going to your separate beds.

‘Many couples find that they only need sleep separation during the work week, when life is a bit more hectic, and that returning to the same bed on the weekend, when they have more free time, is a good way to balance both sleep and intimacy to bring.’

There are other variations on the concept if you can’t bear to be separated from your loved one; in Scandinavia, the popular separate duvet keeps couples in the same bed… but gives them a better night’s sleep, killing any argumentsr stealing a double duvet.

Scandinavians have long claimed that every duvet, often in the individual sleeper’s favorite sleepwear, leads to what we all dream of: a decent night’s sleep.

Cameron Diaz wants to ‘normalize separate bedrooms’ for married couples – and she may be on to something!

Diaz, 51, reflected on what she previously thought was her dream situation of living together during an appearance on the Tuesday, December 19, episode of Molly Sims And Emese Gormley“S”Lipstick on the edge“podcast.

“For me, I would literally say, I have my house, you have yours. In the middle we have the family house. I’m going to sleep in my room. Just go to sleep in your room. I’m fine,” Diaz said after one of the ladies mentioned that her husband snores. “And in the middle we have the bedroom where we can meet for our relations.”

This saw a huge turnout from the hosts and Diaz’s Avaline wine business partner, Katharina Macht, who also guested on the episode. The ladies gushed with their thoughts, even joking that Diaz shouldn’t have shared her attractive take on marriage publicly.

“I already said it,” Diaz shrugged before noting that her opinion had changed, “Besides, I don’t feel that way right now because my husband is so great. I said that before I got married.”

Diaz married Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden in 2015, and they welcomed their daughter, Raddixin January 2020.

The Other woman actress isn’t shy about the fact that Madden, 44, has changed her outlook on life.

“[Marriage] was the biggest thing I did in my 40s, and it opened me up in different ways,” Diaz shared Harper’s Bazaar in May 2016. “It’s pretty amazing. I didn’t think it was something I would do, and I don’t know if I would have done it if I hadn’t met my husband. It was a surprise.”

While Diaz was linked to many A-list men in the early 2000s, including Justin Timberlake, Matt Dillon And Alex Rodriguezshe said that “no one compares” to Madden.

“Everything else washes and slides away,” she said Andy Cohen during an interview in 2016. “You realize, ‘Oh yeah, this is what the real deal is. This is what real love is. This is what true dedication and commitment is. This is the person you build your life with.” … And I know this is special.”

With Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror, Cameron Diaz and husband Benji Madden were among the many millions who shopped for a good deal on Black Friday.

The famous couple – who were recently spotted with their daughter Raddix – were browsing shops in Santa Barbara, Northern California, possibly looking for the perfect gift to give to their little one, who turns four in a month.

The pair opted to color match casual all-black ensembles for their day out together on the traditionally busy shopping day.

Diaz, 51, appeared to lead the way much of the time in black sweatpants, a matching shirt buttoned all the way to the top, and sandals.

The actress completed her casual look with glasses.

The Mask star had her long blonde locks pulled away from her face into a ponytail, with the exception of a few strands that dangled around the frame of her face, and a section in the middle.

Madden, 44, looked rocker-ready in long black shorts, which still showed some of the tattoo work on his legs, and a matching hoodie.

His array of body ink was also visible all around his neck, both front and back.

The guitarist and backing vocalist also wore a pair of black running shoes and a baseball cap that covered the tattoos on his head, which are visible now that he shaves his hair short.

The couple, who celebrate their ninth wedding anniversary on Jan. 5, made the rounds on a day when temperatures near the ocean top reached the mid-60s Fahrenheit, although the mercury did dip into the upper 40s at one point.

With the upcoming holidays, the couple has plenty of people to shop for, including Madden’s identical twin brother Joel Madden, the lead singer of their band Good Charlotte who is married to designer and TV personality Nicole Richie.

Diaz and Madden lived nearby in their $12.67 million mansion in the unincorporated town of Montecito, Santa Barbara County.

They only purchased the six-bedroom, 11,000-square-foot home, which spans 1.77 acres, in May 2022, according to HHouse home.

Diaz’s day also included a number of videos promoting her Avaline wine brand that she co-founded with friend and entrepreneur Kathrine Powers in 2020.

In the ad shared to her main Instagram page, the two ladies show off their acting skills while reclining on a couch.

As she prepared to strap her little girl, who turns four years old next month, into the backseat of her black SUV on Saturday, the 51-year-old In Her Shoes actress smiled sweetly as her longtime husband reached for the car door . .

The happy couple’s rambunctious toddler seemed full of energy before heading home, as she held Diaz’s hand and ran around in a pair of red and black Spiderman sneakers.

At one point, Raddix apparently managed to kick off one of her shoes, which her father dutifully picked up and placed in their car.

The Charlie’s Angels star looked casually chic in an all-black ensemble, which consisted of a black button-down, matching pants and a $1,490 fanny pack.

The couple welcomed Raddix via surrogate on December 30, 2019.

Raddix attended Diaz’s sister-in-law Sofia Richie’s wedding in the south of France earlier this year, along with both her parents.

In March, Diaz said motherhood was “the best thing she’s ever done in her life.”

When asked how she deals with the tough moments, the mother of one confessed that she has a ‘checklist’ that she goes through.

‘Has she eaten? Is she tired? What time is it? When was the last time she ate? When did she sleep? You just start there and you ask, ‘What just happened? Is there something she’s trying to convey to me?” the artist explained.

The father of Liverpool star Luis Diaz was finally freed by kidnappers on Thursday almost two weeks after he was captured by Colombian guerrillas, with manager Jurgen Klopp saying the player was very happy.

Diaz started Liverpool’s loss at Toulouse on Thursday night just hours after his father was taken into the hands of a ‘humanitarian commission’ made up of the Catholic church and the UN. The plan was to take Diaz Snr to a nearby city for medical checks.

First images released on Colombian television showed him wearing a cap and holding a drink, waving an arm in the air. Liverpool said they were ‘delighted by the news’ and thanked ‘all those involved in securing his release’.

Diaz was taken by the left-wing terror group on October 28 in an armed attack and a huge search was launched to locate and release him.

He was seized at gunpoint along with his wife and the government soon blamed Colombia’s last remaining rebel group, the National Liberation Army. Diaz’s mother, Cilenis Marulanda, was left behind in a car.

Officials said they could not rule out the possibility that he had been smuggled over the border to Venezuela through a dense jungle, meaning he would have been out of reach of Colombian police. A reward of about £40,000 was offered for crucial information.

Liverpool manager Klopp spoke movingly of the club’s support for their player who was told not to head home for security reasons. All members of his squad had paid visits to Diaz’s home to offer their support and the side’s Latin American players are thought to have taken the lead. 

Two of those, Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez, were seen hugging and laughing with Diaz as the South American trio entered the Stade de Toulouse pitch to warm up last night, with the player starting in the Reds’ defeat.

Earlier on Thursday, Colombian media reported that the process of liberating Luis Diaz’s father had begun, with a helicopter taking off from the city of Valledupar to a meeting place where rebels would stage the handover.

Radar showed the helicopter circling close to the Venezuelan border in the Perija Mountain Range. Images following the handover showed Diaz Snr flanked by two men who appeared to be priests. He was then seen sitting on the ground having his blood pressure checked. He is expected to be reunited with family in Valledupar.

Colombia’s president, Gustavo Petro, greeted the news with a message on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, in which he wrote: ‘Long live freedom and peace.’ The Colombian football federation added: ‘Football is passion in peace. Let no one ever think of attacking that reality again.’

Speaking to Colombian TV, Diaz’s Aunt said: ‘There were many days of uncertainty, of sleeplessness, of late nights. Today we are happy, happy to know that we already saw him. He is not as we would like, but he is alive.’ 

On hearing the news of Diaz Snr’s release, Liverpool wrote on Twitter: ‘We are delighted by the news of Luis Diaz’s father’s safe return and we thank all those involved in securing his release.’

With his father still missing, Colombia international Diaz had scored his side’s equaliser with a dramatic late goal in a 1-1 draw at Luton before lifting his shirt to reveal a message demanding a release.

Colombian press were with Diaz’s family as the rescue operation took place. They caught the reaction of Diaz Snr’s own father, who was reduced to tears upon seeing his son released. 

A number of false dawns followed before the breakthrough eventually arrived.

Concern grew on Tuesday after there was no sign of the start of ELN’s release process despite measures to facilitate it, with Diaz’s family calling for the group to offer proof that Diaz Snr was still alive. 

But on Wednesday, hope was renewed again as humanitarian groups including representatives from the Catholic Chruch and the United Nations gathered on the Colombian-Venezuelan border after establishing contact with ELN to begin the handover. 

On Thursday morning local time, Semana reported the handover had been a success. 

Members of the police and other special forces had been searching for the Liverpool star’s father since October 28.

His father and mother, Cilenis Marulanda, were abducted from the town of Barrancas in La Guajira, Colombia by the group, before the ELN, who are considered a terrorist organisation by the United States and European Union, fled the scene. 

Reports last Friday had claimed that Diaz’s father would be freed that day, but his release did not materialise.

Juan Carlos Cuellar, a representative of the group, stated in a community meeting that Diaz Snr would be ‘released as soon as possible’.  

On Sunday October 30, it emerged that Diaz’s mother had been rescued after she was left in a car by the guerrilla group, with members of the ELN keeping his father as a captive. 

His mother made her first appearance since the kidnapping last Tuesday, demanding that the abductors release her partner safely before leading hundreds on a march in their home town. 

Luis Diaz had been pictured back in training for the Reds ahead of the clash with Luton, but there was uncertainty over whether he would make an appearance during their 1-1 draw on Sunday amid the ongoing situation. 

Instead, Diaz was included in the squad and came off the bench to score a 95th-minute equaliser, to help Klopp’s side secure a draw. 

After scoring, the Colombian forward issued an emotional plea asking for the release of his father. 

He revealed a T-shirt underneath his Liverpool jersey that had the message ‘freedom for papa’ written in Spanish on it. 

His manager and Luton captain Tom Lockyer both embraced the forward at full-time, before Diaz issued a statement on social media on the same evening.  

He wrote: ‘This is not Luis Diaz the player speaking. Today I am the son of Luis Manuel Diaz. My dad hard-working family man. 

‘I ask the ELN for the prompt release of my father, and I ask international organisations to work together for his freedom.

‘Every second, every minute, our anguish grows. My mother, my brothers and I are desperate, distressed and without words to describe what we are feeling. This suffering will only end when we have him back home.

‘I beg you to release him immediately, respecting his integrity and ending this painful wait as soon as possible.

‘In the name of love and compassion, we ask that you reconsider your actions and allow us to recover him.

‘I thank Colombians and the international community for the support received, thank you for so many demonstrations of affection and solidarity in this difficult time that many families in my country find themselves living.’

On Monday, it was reported that the group had vowed ‘to keep their word’ and release his father as soon as ‘security guarantees’ were in place. 

In a statement, which was signed by the guerrilla group’s commander Jose Manuel Martinez Quiroz, the ELN said: ‘On November 2, we informed the country of the decision to release Mr. Luis Manuel Diaz, father of the player Luis Diaz.

‘From that date, we began the process to accomplish this as soon as possible. We are making efforts to avoid incidents with government forces.

‘The area is still militarised, they are carrying out flyovers, disembarking troops, broadcasting and offering rewards as part of an intense search operation.

‘This situation is not allowing for the execution of the release plan quickly and safely, where Mr. Luis Manuel Diaz is not at risk. If operations continue in the area, they will delay the release and increase the risks.

‘We understand the anguish of the Diaz Marulanda family, to whom we say that we will keep our word to release him unilaterally, as soon as we have security guarantees for the development of the liberation operation.’

It was confirmed by the Colombian authorities on Thursday last week that the ELN were behind the abduction, with leader of the Colombian government’s Peace Delegation, Otty Patino, stating: ‘Today we have had official knowledge that the kidnapping was perpetrated by a unit belonging to the ELN.

‘To the ELN, we demand the immediate release of Mr Luis Manuel Diaz and we remind them that it is their responsibility to guarantee his life and integrity. 

‘We remind the ELN that kidnapping is a criminal practice, in violation of International Humanitarian Law.’

The organisation, is a Marxist-Leninist anti-government group that has over 2,000 militants among its ranks based in the countryside of Colombia.

The director general of Colombia’s National Police force, William Rene Salamanca Ramirez, had also directly issued a statement to the Liverpool star stating that the authorities were utilising resources on land, sea and in the air to safely recover his father. 

While officials continued to search for Diaz’s father, a reward of 200 million Colombian pesos (£40,000) was being offered in return for information on his location. 

The Colombian army had been involved in the search, employing robust tactics to try and locate Diaz Snr. 

It’s been reported that ‘two motorised platoons unmanned aircraft, checkpoints, helicopters, a plane with specialised radar’ had all been deployed in the search.

The Liverpool forward also broke his silence on social media last week shortly after news filtered out about Diaz Snr’s kidnapping, urging members of the public to march in solidarity to demand the release of his father. 

Diaz was also pictured back in training for his side, with Klopp stating on Friday that the Colombian had been training for several days. 

He had missed Liverpool’s previous matches against Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth amid the developing situation. 

Speaking on his emotional tribute to his father after scoring against Luton, Klopp praised the forward and spoke on his embrace with the 26-year-old after the match.

The Liverpool manager said: ‘It’s wonderful, it’s emotional and it’s fantastic but the real problem is not sorted because of that. 

‘We want to give and he wanted to as well, Lucho [Diaz] the opportunity to be a little bit distracted from things.

‘He cannot do anything. He is waiting all the time, the whole family is waiting all the time. He trained a few times with us and was then in a good mood and it’s good for him.

‘The signs from Colombia are rather positive, optimistic but not the one thing we want to hear didn’t happen yet.

‘How was he emotionally afterwards? After the game, there was no words necessary. We just gave each other a hug, that’s all. You know how he is. Ok, but desperately waiting for the right news.

‘I understand 100 per cent it’s a nice story. It is super positive and great for him but these things go by.

‘The real information we need is different information. It [scoring] is a really, really positive thing for him but all the other problems stay the same.’ 

His team-mate, Allison, added after the match: ‘It says a lot about Diaz’s character, his inner strength. Not many people imagine what he’s going through, we feel his pain but for him it’s a different level. 

‘Football sometimes in the bad moment can bring joy to someone who is struggling. Football is a slice of joy for Lucho in this time. We are with him 100 per cent.

‘Football always surprises in a good way, it happened with me when I was going through a difficult moment. When you are on the pitch you are focused on doing the job.’

‘Really difficult, we had to play against a deep defending team. They did a really good job today. We didn’t play a bad game, we missed some chances. It’s disappointing to not win but we respected the opponent playing bravely on the pitch.’

He’s already been spotted looking less than enthusiastic at a Beyonce concert and Prince Harry’s latest outing to Katy Perry’s Vegas show indicates he might not share his wife’s penchant for pop.  

The Sussexes attended Katy Perry’s Las Vegas show over the weekend – with the Duchess of Sussex, 42, filmed dancing up a storm in a glamorous gem-encrusted ensemble.

However, fans noticed that her husband, 39, who’s previously expressed a fondness for electronic music, appeared less enthusiastic in his moves as the couple watched the pop star perform one of her last residency concerts at Resorts World Theatre.

One social media clip – shared by user @Le__Katerina on X, formerly known as Twitter – saw the mother-of-two swaying to the hit Roar as she clapped her hands to the rhythm and boogied along.

Meanwhile, next to her, Harry gently rocked himself back and forth to the beat.

Other shots from the night show a very excited Meghan grinning next to her more subdued husband. 

Fans of the royal couple remarked that the Prince doesn’t appear to ‘actually enjoy music concerts’.

‘He always looks bored,’ one poster said. ‘Megsie just drags him along.’

Some also expressed their fondness at the Duke’s attempts at following his wife’s dancing.

For this weekend, the couple were spotted taking a private plane to Las Vegas with Cameron Diaz, Benji Madden and Zoe Saldana to enjoy a night of music.

They were joined in the VIP section by Celine Dion – and both looked animated, standing up and cheering as the California Gurls singer took to the stage.  

The group boarded a G4 for the 40 minute flight to Las Vegas before flying home, touching down back in California at 1am early Sunday morning.

This comes after a famous former Vanity Fair editor claimed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s marriage will last ‘years rather than decades.’ 

Canadian Graydon Carter, 74, said he believes the Duchess of Sussex, who wed the Duke in 2018, ‘has run rings around poor Harry to get money, notoriety and a title.’

Since their royal nuptials in St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in 2018, the Sussexes have stepped back from their duties in the royal family, moved to California, and had two kids, Lilibet and Archie.

But the marriage may not last the distance, Carter said. The founder and co-editor of Air Mail, told the Sunday Times: ‘I would measure the duration of the marriage in years rather than decades.

‘I think she has run rings around poor Harry and gotten what she wanted: notoriety, money, and a title. His usefulness to her diminishes daily.’ 

Carter said that he did not think Markle would make an acting come back – but did say: ‘If there is a Real Housewives of Montecito show in the works, she’d be a shoo-in.’

Meanwhile, it appears Harry and Meghan love to attend music concerts for their date nights, after the couple – who are parents to Prince Archie, four and, Princess Lilibet, two – were filmed at a Beyoncé performance.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were among thousands of fans who crowded into the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles as the artist continued her world tour.

But Harry appeared disinterested as the pair were spotted in a private box along with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland and Meghan’s Suits co-star and close friend Abigail Spencer. The members of their group, including the Sussexes, wore silver to match the singer’s request that her fans wear the colour to her show.

Meghan was seen clapping and waving her arms, while Doria, who celebrated her 67th birthday on the day, was seen dancing along to the music.

Harry however was seen with his hands firmly stuck in his pockets or glued to his phone. 

Earlier this week, Harry and Meghan took their children trick-or-treating for Halloween this year.
