MEET the mysterious English star who made his debut at the “new” Wembley.

Nicky Shorey is not a name that has entered English folklore.

However, a case can certainly be made that he has a claim to such a title as he was one of the Three Lions starting XI that started the match when Wembley returned to the international stage.

Shorey had impressed for Reading in the 2007 season, leading to fans creating a ‘Shorey for England’ chant for him, which eventually led to him being called up by England B.

An impressive performance from the left-back against Albania in that game led to suggestions he could make the step up to the first team.

And in May 2007, Shorey was called up by Steve McLaren for the new Wembley debut against Brazil.

In doing so, he made history as Reading’s first player in 100 years to play for the senior national team.

He played for the duration of the 1-1 draw, with John Terry curling in a header from David Beckham’s free-kick before Diego equalized for the Samba nation in the 90th minute.

However, Shorey failed to secure a place in the team and only made one more appearance for England, playing against Germany in August 2007.

Reflecting on his England selection against Brazil, Shorey told the Three Lions podcast in 2020: “Yes, it still seems a bit surreal now.

“It was even more surreal at the time because we had literally just been promoted from Reading and had only been in the Premier League for one season.

“And when you get a cap as a left-back in the era of Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge, it’s very difficult.

“You have to be a bit lucky and luckily I think they both got injured. It just came at a time when I was playing really well and we had done really well in Reading.

“You never quite think it’s going to happen until you actually get the call and someone says, listen, you’re on the team.”

Shorey – who could play in midfield or as a wing-back – played for Reading between 2000 and 2008, making 296 appearances.

The now 43-year-old also played for Aston Villa, Fulham and West Brom in the Premier League before returning to Reading in the 2012/2013 season.

Shorey went on to play for Bristol City, Portsmouth, Colchester United and Hungerford Town before hanging up his boots in 2017.

There was even a brief stint in the Indian Super League with Pune City, making fifteen appearances.

England are preparing for a repeat of Shorey’s debut match on Saturday, which could see as many as three players make their international debuts.

Jarrad Branthwaite, Anthony Gordon and Kobbie Mainoo – who was only promoted after the weekend – are all set to make their debuts during the international break after being called up by Gareth Southgate.

Mother-of-two Des explained that she sells digital products on Canva, which allows her to earn money passively.

A digital product is any product that is created, distributed, and consumed in electronic form.

Digital Etsy products refer to digital files that buyers can instantly purchase and download, such as printable art, digital planners, e-books, stock photos, and more.

Des explained that she went from zero profit to $50,000 [£39,435] on her part – and all without a social media following.

The savvy mom explained that selling digital products on Etsy allows her to spend time with her kids and work while they sleep.

Posting on social media, Des talked about her side hustle, as she explained: “It’s still crazy to me that I can make an income from something I made once, but sell it again and again (quite passively).

“Canva templates were my gateway to selling digital products.

“There are so many different things you can create (spreadsheets, websites, eBooks). The list of options is truly endless.”

In one clipDes shared how to sell Canva templates on Etsy, as she claimed: “Selling Canva templates can be a great way to make extra income online!

“Here’s a tutorial on how to sell a Canva template on Etsy for passive income.

Prince Harry and Meghan were given a Canadian send off on Friday night with Michael Bublé singing re-written lyrics to Frank Sinatra’s classic ‘My Way’, in a nod to the Duke.

The couple were attending a lavish gala dinner with 200 guests in Vancouver to wrap up their tour in preparation for the 2025 Winter Invictus Games. 

Shortly before a speech by the Duke, Bublé performed a rewritten version of Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ with nods to Prince Harry littered throughout.

It included the line: ‘You’ve earned each day, the right to say, I did it my way,’ and referred to Harry as a ‘visionary.’

The Canadian crooner also sung, ‘Our healing wishes for your dad’, in a touching gesture to King Charles III who was recently diagnosed with cancer. 

Harry, wearing a dark suit and a black tie, then spoke about the Invictus Games telling the audience that the athletes, who are comprised of injured and sick servicemen and women, embodied ‘courage, leadership, and fortitude.’

Meghan, 42, wore a one-shoulder olive green dress by Canadian designer Greta Constantine, a necklace by Logan Hollowell and Manolo Blahnik shoes.

Meghan and Harry had been expected to head home to Montecito, California following three days of Invictus Games events in Whistler and Vancouver but extended their trip by a night to enjoy a party with athletes and organizers.

Although not part of the official schedule and intended to be held away from the media, the gala – which is being held at the Vancouver Convention Centre – was signposted with black and gold Invictus signs.

Towards the end of the night, the crowd gave a standing ovation as Prince Harry took to the stage – who joked that he was going to start singing before welcoming Bublé to the stage.

Bublé said it was emotional for him to be there and that he loved that ‘we can show Harry and Meghan how beautiful this place is’. 

Other lyrics swapped by Bublé included: ‘Nothing tames, Invictus Games, you play them your way’, ‘One man, life-changing plan, he does all he can, he’s a visionary’.

In his speech, Prince Harry spoke of the Invictus Games and touched on how much he was looking forward to next years event.

In his speech, Prince Harry said: ‘These games have been so warmly welcomed by our Four Host First Nations, who have opened their arms and land to each of us, not only tonight but in the lead up to and during the Games next year. 

‘This year will mark ten years of the Invictus Games. The past decade has been a testament to the power of resilience and the unbreakable spirit you all exemplify. And boy have we had fun on the way!

‘The Invictus Games are not just a competition; they’re a way of life, a celebration of the human spirit. 

‘The games provide a platform for us to showcase your abilities, to inspire the world, and honor the sacrifices of those we have lost.

‘It is a reminder that we are not defined by our injuries, but by our strength, our commitment, and our ability to overcome adversity.

‘Invictus is not necessarily about winning a medal, but about the bonds that are built between nations; about the shared journey of recovery that competitors and their families are a part of. 

‘As we continue to prepare for next year, let us remember the words of William Ernest Henley, the poet whose work serves as the namesake for The Invictus Games. 

‘”I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul.” Let us embrace these words, and let us continue to inspire each other, and the world, with courage, with leadership, and with fortitude.’

Roughly 200 people were in attendance, which began with the Duke and Duchess being led in by representatives from the Tsleil-Waututh Nation who sang and drummed in traditional regalia. 

Johnna Sparrow, an Indigenous advisor for the Games, and sister of Chief Wayne Sparrow of the Musqueam Indian Band, gifted the couple with woven blankets for each of their children from the Salish people.

Sparrow said the children could dance with the blankets or wrap themselves in them when their parents are away to remind them that ‘their parents are off doing good work.’ 

The party followed a morning spent at the Hillcrest Community Centre in downtown Vancouver where Harry took part in an adapted wheelchair curling event.

An enthusiastic Duke of Sussex showed up 90 minutes ahead of the official 11am start time to meet some of the athletes privately, while Meghan arrived at the very last moment.

Meghan was glamorously dressed for the occasion in a $1,250 Sentaler camel coat and sculptural gold earrings while Harry was casual in a sports jacket and jeans.

Bublé – a long-time supporter of the Games – also took to the ice for a spot of curling; telling the crowd: ‘Ladies and gentlemen of the press, prepare to see your hometown boy do well!’

The gala comes at the very end of the couple’s three-day visit to Canada to mark one year to go until the 2025 Invictus Games which will be held in Whistler, British Columbia.

Day two saw Harry whoop with delight as he tried out a skeleton bobsled – hitting a top speed of 61mph – watched by Meghan who filmed him on her iPhone.

The pair also met with Nigerian power lifter and ex-soldier Peacemaker Azuegbulam who also tried out the skeleton – despite being a double amputee who had never seen snow before.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, Peacemaker said he was thrilled to be reunited with the couple after being introduced to them at Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany, last year where he won a gold medal in the powerlifting.

Now preparing to take part in the skeleton competition at the 2025 Games, despite only making his debut on Thursday, Peacemaker said sport had helped him come to terms with the injuries he sustained during a firefight with Boko Haram terrorists in November 2020.

He said: ‘At first I felt ashamed because of my injuries but then I was introduced to the Games and began with playing volleyball. Now I feel good, now I feel recovered.

‘I am proud to be the first Invictus champion from Africa and I feel recharged. It totally changed my mindset.’

The appearance at Hillcrest Community Centre – a multi-sport complex run by the city of Vancouver – came a few hours after the couple appeared on Good Morning America, where Harry insisted ‘I love my family’ and said he ‘jumped on a plane’ to visit the King ‘as soon as I could’ after speaking on the phone about his cancer diagnosis.

The 39-year-old also revealed he was ‘grateful’ to have seen his father Charles III in person and hopes the diagnosis can have a ‘reunifying effect’ on the Royal Family.

Camera crews from ABC have been following the couple throughout their time in Canada and were seen on Thursday conducting an interview next to the track at the Whistler Sliding Centre.

On Wednesday, the pair made their appearance on the slopes of the Whistler Blackcomb Mountain flanked by GMA presenter Will Reeve – son of the late Superman actor Christopher.

The trip also came after the couple became embroiled in rows over the rebranding of their website to Sussex.com, Harry’s 30-minute meeting with his cancer-stricken father in London and criticism over the Sussexes’ heavy use of private jets.

Despite the swirl of controversy, the Duke and Duchess have appeared unaffected during their trip and were seen beaming in exclusive DailyMail.com photos beaming as they left a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner in Whistler on Wednesday night.

Earlier that day, the couple met First Nations youth ambassadors representing the native Canadian tribes on whose land the Games are taking place.

The duo privately toured the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Center in Whistler where they were shown around by Chief Nelson and Wilson Williams and met artists who created the new Invictus Games logo for the event.

In a statement, Harry and Meghan said: ‘The evening and presentation were extremely meaningful.

‘IG2025 and the couple could not be more proud to share the artists’ piece with the world. 

‘The couple recognizes the significance of the First Nation communities welcoming the Invictus Games onto their sacred land and are thankful for their warmth and hospitality.’

A celebrity psychic dramatically threw a Channel 4 film crew out of his home, claiming a new online documentary wrongly 'portrayed his psychic ability as disingenuous'.

Chris Riley, 29, from Essex, who has earned £300,000 from speaking engagements and has a host of celebrity clients including Love Island's Gemma Collins and Maura Higgins, appeared in a brand new episode of Channel 4's YouTube series Life Uncovered.

For the episode Prove To Me You're Psychic, presenter and journalist Ben Zand wanted to know more about Chris's work and how it is scientifically possible to connect with the other side.

However, during filming, Chris asked the crew to leave after he felt the documentary showed “intrusive and disrespectful behavior towards my profession.”

He was shown giving Ben a series of wrong answers during a lecture, but on Instagram Chris claimed that production had 'selectively excluded footage from the programme' and excluded 'a number of positive and accurate parts'.

In the film, Chris claimed he has made £300,000 by giving 100,000 psychic readings since he started his practice.

Ben followed Chris to some of his readings with clients to understand the spiritual connection, and he even sat in as the medium recorded an Instagram Live to guide his followers.

In one clip, Ben said: “Some people watching this won't believe it's possible. I'd actually like this to be true, so how do we prove that to the public?'

Chris replied, “That's okay, that's absolutely fine. You know I have no problem with someone who doesn't believe. I've done well enough, I don't have a reputation for nothing.'

Later in the episode, Ben received a reading from Chris, and the psychic correctly guessed Ben's mother's name, but the host pointed out that Chris could have easily found the information on social media.

Chris added: “I'm not here to prove this to you, I'm here to tell you how I feel.”

Chris then mentioned a 'Michael' and suggested that Ben has a 'strong male family', but Ben replied that he was 'not right'.

Chris continued asking, “Tell me, siblings?”

When Ben questioned why he had to give this information, Chris said, “Because you're telling me I'm not right, so you can explain.”

Ben admitted that there is a 'Michael', his family: his brother.

Chris continued reading and said he suspected Ben's mother “has health issues and doesn't talk about them.”

Chris then asked if his father was “one of three,” but Ben pointed out that his father was “one of about sixteen kids.”

Frustrated, the medium put his hand to the camera and said, 'You can turn it off. I can not do it. I don't feel like reading any further, sorry.'

Ben asked, “Why is that?” and Chris responded with, “I don't know if you're being honest with me.”

Ben added, “I promise I'm honest. There's no reason for me to lie about it.'

Later, Ben filmed himself sitting in his car saying: 'I just got kicked out of Chris.

'He just felt he was being harassed, regretted it and demanded we give him the footage. I feel bad because he welcomed me too, but it ended in the worst possible way.”

However, in his post, Chris denied he had been 'messed around' and said he had asked the crew to leave because he had been 'misled about the nature of the programme'.

Chris added: 'With almost 15 years dedicated to my work, both as a professional psychic for the public and celebrities, I do not have to justify or prove my abilities to a TV channel and production company that takes a cynical approach to work that I do. and use my profile to attract media attention.

'I believe that this program failed to provide a balanced view of paranormal abilities and seemed intended to embarrass and alienate me, with the advantage of attracting viewers to the channel to to strengthen your own profile.'

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: 'In the YouTube documentary series Life Uncovered Channel 4, journalist Ben Zand exposes the often unconventional lifestyles and careers.

“The scenes in this film are an honest and accurate representation of what was captured as we followed Chris' life and work.”

Few expected its extraordinary success. After all, Prince Harry is hardly known for his literary skills.

But when Spare hit shelves on this day a year ago, it became an international phenomenon. More than three million copies were sold worldwide in the first week alone, and 1.4 million in the first 24 hours.

According to publisher Penguin Random House, it was the fastest-selling non-fiction book ever seen in Britain.

The steady stream of royal and personal revelations is said to be the result of a $20 million book deal and has been a huge commercial success for Prince Harry – and given his voice unprecedented global reach.

But at what price?

Although significant parts of the material were reportedly removed from the book at a late stage, Harry’s unflinching commentary on William, Kate and other royals is believed to have driven a wedge between the prince and his family.

Twelve months later, the distance between them shows no signs of closing.

The highly anticipated launch of Spare seemed to go wrong when a blunder in Spain resulted in the content – ​​in translation – being released five days early.

It was pulled from the shelves within hours, but not before the prince’s personal stories about his life circulated electronically around the world.

The extra publicity didn’t seem to hurt.

Some British stores opened late for the midnight release of the biggest royal book since Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, collaborated with Andrew Morton’s Diana: Her True Story in 1992.

Some of those waiting outside shops in London as Monday 9 January turned into Tuesday 10 expressed their condolences for the prince’s apparent emotional distress at the tragic loss of his adored mother – detailed in the book.

But many considered airing so much dirty linen an unforgivable betrayal of his family.

The book was published just four months after the death of the queen, his grandmother.

Harry’s explosive memoir chronicles his life from his mother’s death in August 1979 to Queen Elizabeth’s death in September 2022.

Much of the material, written by JD Moehringer, focuses on his own grief and healing.

However, attacks on fellow royals peppered every chapter, from portraying his brother as an ‘arch-enemy’ to claiming that King Charles had failed him as a father.

One of the memoir’s most shocking revelations were claims that Harry and William had an explosive row after – it is claimed – the older brother called Meghan ‘difficult’, ‘rude’ and ‘abrasive’.

The book alleged that William grabbed him by the collar, broke his chain and knocked him to the ground, where he injured himself on a dog bowl – which broke.

We have not yet heard William’s side of this and many other stories that appear in Spare.

As for his father, while Harry was less critical than some expected, the prince portrayed Charles as an ineffective father who couldn’t even hug him when he told him about his mother’s death.

The prince claimed that Charles tried to mend fences between William and Harry at Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021, saying: “Please, boys, don’t make my last years a misery.”

There were also strange hostages of fortune. Harry’s statement that he had killed 25 members of the Taliban while serving on the front lines was poorly received across the board.

His story about losing his virginity, meanwhile, was so thinly disguised that the other party was identified and interviewed almost immediately.

The reaction of the royal family was eagerly awaited. Yet not a word was said. Family members must have been sorely tempted to speak out, but ultimately they stuck to the “never complain, never explain” approach that has served them well over the years.

A source who knew the late Queen Elizabeth well told MailOnline that they felt ‘almost comforted’ that she was no longer alive to see what her grandson had done.

“Her Majesty would be devastated,” the source said.

And that was undoubtedly true of Harry’s father, Charles.

It reported that Harry wanted to ‘cancel the publication’ of his impressive memoir Spare after visiting Britain for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2021.

The Duke of Sussex’s reservations may have arisen after the royals told him there would be “no turning back” if it was published while the Queen was still alive, sources at the book’s publisher speculated.

Following his visit to his wife Meghan, the team at Penguin Random House was reportedly told that the prince had “pulled it” and that “he doesn’t want to do it.”

Although no official reason was ever given, it was rumored that the publisher had given Harry an ‘ultimatum’ not to publish while his grandmother was still alive.

But “that all changed with the monarch’s death in September,” the publishing source said.

Although other reports suggested that the experience of the anniversary and family unity at his grandmother’s funeral prompted some significant revisions to the text.

The royal family did its best to appear calm.

Two days later, Prince William and Kate Middleton opened the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

They appeared cheerful and at ease in matching navy blue and green outfits, presenting a united front were received with cheers.

Ahead of the book’s release in the early hours of January 10, the Duke toured the TV studios and took part in interviews with the likes of CBS’ ITV’s Tom Bradby and Anderson Cooper.

Mr Bradby, a former royal correspondent and presenter of ITV News at Ten, was friends with the Sussexes and had previously interviewed them for a documentary about their 2019 tour of Africa.

During their interview, he alternated between answering questions from Bradby and reading portions of his memoir.

Speaking to Anderson Cooper, Harry appeared to dismiss his father’s feelings on the matter by labeling Camilla as ‘the bad guy’ and ‘dangerous’.

The prince says he still has questions about his mother’s death.

According to the latest government report, the central government has earned nearly Rs 1,163 crore from scrap sales since October 2021. Notably, this amount could have funded two Chandrayaan-3 missions, with the moon mission costing around Rs 600 crores.

New Delhi: The latest government report has revealed some astonishing facts that may surprise you. According to the reports, the central government has earned nearly Rs 1,163 crore from scrap sales since October 2021. This includes Rs 557 crore during a one-month campaign in October this year. According to the government report, 96 million square meters of physical files have been distributed in government offices since October 2021 and nearly 355 million square meters of space has been freed up, News18 reported. This move cleared the officers’ hallways and used the freed up space for other purposes.

Interestingly, the huge amount is almost double the budget of Chandrayaan-3, which cost around Rs 600 crore. With the amount earned, the Modi-led government could finance two such missions just by selling scraps such as archive materials, office equipment and outdated vehicles.

“The Russian moon mission, which was unsuccessful, cost Rs 16,000 crore, and our (Chandrayaan-3) mission cost only about Rs 600 crore. Hollywood films based on moon and space missions cost over Rs 600 crore,” MoS Space, Jitendra Singh, had stated earlier this year.

The mass action was led by the Ministry of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances. Notably, the massive move also highlights the importance of the central government’s drive for cleanliness, with the pressure coming directly from the Prime Minister’s Supreme Court.
