Billie Piper has finally broken her silence on ex-husband Laurence Fox six years after their ‘quickie divorce’.

The actress shares sons Winston, 12, and Eugene, eight, with the controversial activist and the pair were embroiled in a lengthy custody dispute after their split.

In 2022, Laurence, 45, publicly spoke out about their arrangement, claiming Billie was using their children as ‘weapons’ and that he had been denied access to seeing them.

While Billie, 41, maintained a dignified silence at the time, she has now spoken out about their complicated relationship in a candid interview with British Vogue

Asked how she navigates co-parenting with Laurence, Billie shared: ‘With enormous difficulty.’

Billie Piper has finally broken her silence on ex-husband Laurence Fox, discussing his public scandals and their ‘difficult’ co-parenting in a candid chat with British Vogue

She continued: ‘I close everything down and keep a very strict routine with the kids so that there’s consistency. I keep them close. That’s all I can do…

‘What is paramount for me is the privacy and anonymity of my children. They deserve not to be extensions of the parents and to forge their own identities.’

Billie added that she tries to avoid hearing anything about her ex, who has hit headlines in recent weeks for a slew of controversies.

He was recently dropped from GB News after launching into a ‘sexist’ rant about a female journalist and lost a high profile libel case after calling two men ‘paedophiles’.

Yet Billie does her best to avoid being drawn into his scandals, explaining: ‘I try to keep people from telling me stuff but it’s really, really hard.

‘I don’t read it but everyone wants to talk about it. Sometimes I have to say to people: “Please don’t bring this to me, now or ever.”‘

While she doesn’t want to spend her time discussing her ex-husband she admitted: ‘Of course I have feelings on that, I’m not dead inside.’

Billie added: ‘I’ve had to make some choices and a divorce speaks for itself… or at least it should! You have to laugh because it’s a lot. It’s a good way of kind of soothing yourself.’

Despite discussing the difficulties of Laurence she revealed that there has been a ‘positive’ in their divorce and custody battle.

She reasoned: ‘It’s made me feel stronger in many ways. I’ve learnt I have a lot of resilience I didn’t know I had.

‘I’ve had to learn the hard way that you can only control yourself and how you react to things. It’s really f***ing hard. I hate that.’

Yet she confessed that she isn’t the best person to ask about Laurence, saying: ‘Look, if people want to try and understand the workings of the guy, they ought to either ask him or his family.

‘Ask [Fox’s brother-in-law, actor and comedian] Richard Ayoade what he thinks, or his wife [Fox’s actor sister] Lydia. They might have a more interesting take.’

Billie first met Laurence in a theatre rehearsal room in 2006 and they tied the knot the following year when she was 25.

It was her second marriage, following her controversial union with DJ Chris Evans, whom she wed when she was 18 and he was 35 – yet Billie has no bad words about her first husband, labelling him ‘one of the good guys.’

Most recently she was dating singer Johnny Lloyd but the couple quietly separated last year after eight years together. They share five-year-old daughter, Tallulah.

There seems to be no bad blood between the pair, with Billie labelling Johnny ‘a very good man’.

She confessed in her Vogue chat that her late 20s and early 30s were a period of unrest for her and she felt ‘unhinged and mentally not well’.

Billie recalled: ‘There was something very, very sobering about that time and letting go of people that weren’t very healthy for me. Unfortunately, a lot of that has been in relation to men I suppose.’

She tied-the-knot with Laurence in a low-key parish church ceremony on New Year’s Eve in 2007, after a few drinks in the local pub.

They were married in a 50-minute ceremony at a village church near their £750,000 home in Eastbourne, West Sussex, with the actress wearing a formal, low-cut wedding dress in ivory with a flash of pink.

It was Billie’s former husband Chris and his new wife, Natasha Shishmanian, that made the guest list somewhat unusual.

The presenter was also the first person to visit the newly-married couple’s home, with the trio chinking glasses in a cordial toast before Chris drove to his own country pile, just a few miles away.

Laurence and Billie went on to welcome two sons.

However, the pair confirmed they had separated after eight years of marriage in 2016, and insisted that ‘no third parties involved’ in their split.

A post on his official Facebook account at the time read: ‘Laurence Fox and Billie Piper have separated. No third parties are involved. For the sake of our family we request and appeal for space and privacy at this time.’

The pair were granted a ‘quickie divorce’ in a court ruling that took just 50 seconds, citing unreasonable behaviour.

The actress, was not present when her request for a decree nisi from the actor was granted on the grounds that the marriage had ‘irretrievably broken down’ on the grounds of his ‘unreasonable behaviour’.

At the time of their split, they stated their intention to ‘co-parent their children with the utmost mutual respect for each other’.

But between 2016 and 2017, Laurence and Billie then became embroiled in a lengthy custody dispute over access to their children.

The proceedings concluded in the Family Division of the High Court in December 2017 and Laurence previously claimed that they drained his finances.

The actor said that he’d been forced to put his career on hold so that he could help their children cope with the aftermath of the split.

Speaking in January 2018, he said: ‘I was certainly in a very dark place at one point – at my lowest ebb. I almost felt like I couldn’t go on. It all felt so hopeless.

‘With divorce, you immediately lose half the time you’d spend with the kids. That in itself is a mental health crisis. But, like everything, these feelings pass and you start to feel stronger with every day.

‘Men no longer feel comfortable talking about relationships, and for the men who bottle it, it can be disastrous – they end up throwing themselves off buildings.’

After his court proceedings, Laurence started campaigning to transform the family court system, which he described as ‘unnecessarily adversarial’.

At the time, he said: ‘Actually I feel really sad. The process didn’t need to be so long, drawn-out and adversarial.

‘And ours was quick, because we have cash. I feel the children have been robbed of their young lives. It’s been half of Eugene’s life.’

In 2022, Laurence brought their custody dispute back into the public eye when he accused Billie of denying him access to their children, alleging that he has not been able to see or speak to his eldest son Winston on his 14th birthday.

He penned: ‘It is [my son’s] birthday tomorrow and his mother has denied him any access to see or speak with me, I am using my platform to highlight what child alienation does to families. Kids need both parents.

‘Don’t be the parent who refuses to let their sons speak to their dad, especially on their birthday. Don’t be that parent. Put children first. Don’t use them as weapons.

‘It is so bad for kids. Child alienation needs to be talked about openly, along with all other child abuse.’

But Twitter users were quick to hit back at his allegations and accused him of using his children as ‘weapons’ – which he accused Billie of – by sharing the ranting post.

From Billie Piper’s booze-fuelled marriage with Chris Evans to bitter divorce battle with Laurence Fox… the star’s complicated relationships as she ‘splits from her boyfriend of eight years Johnny Lloyd’

It’s unlucky in love again for Billie Piper as she has reportedly split from her boyfriend Johnny Lloyd after eight years together.

The former Doctor Who star, 41, and the singer, 38, who share five-year-old daughter, Tallulah, decided to end their romance after lockdown had a major impact on their relationship, according to The Sun on Sunday.

It’s not the first relationship to seemingly turn sour for the actress; she’s been divorced twice and involved in a bitter custody battle with her ex Laurence Fox.

She famously married her first husband Chris Evans back in 2001, after dating for six months, aged just 18, with the 16-year age gap between the pair sparking controversy.

So, amid reports that the end of Billie’s relationship to Johnny was ‘very sad’ and they are ‘better off apart’, FEMAIL takes a look at the star’s complicated relationship history…

CHRIS EVANS

Fans of Billie Piper were shocked when it emerged that she and Chris Evans had tied the knot in a casual Las Vegas wedding in 2001 – with just six guests.

The couple has only met a year earlier when she appeared on his TV show TFI Friday in 2000 – the next day, he sent a £110,000 Ferrari filled with roses to her home (she couldn’t drive at the time).

She was just 18, when she wed Chris who was 16-years old her senior, sparking controversy.

The duo married in a secret Las Vegas ceremony at the Little Church of the West for which she wore flips flops and a sarong. The groom was equally casual, donning an open-necked shirt.

An 18-month sabbatical followed as the couple travelled the world, before settling at Chris’ country estate in Hascombe, Surrey.

The couple split three years later in 2004 and the divorce was finalised in 2007, they remained on good terms with Billie likening the marriage ‘to being in your university years’.

She did not request a single penny of his estimated £30million fortune, and although citing irreconcilable differences on their divorce papers, they remained close afterwards.

Billie previously recalled how she got ‘completely hammered for three years’ with her ex-husband when she was feeling burnt out from her teen pop career.

Speaking on David Tennant Does A Podcast With… in 2020, Billie said she had an ‘amazing time’ with Chris and described the relationship as ‘very loving.’

And when Billie had a public ‘meltdown’ in 2006, it was no surprise that it was her estranged husband to which she turned.

Suffering from stress over her forthcoming stage debut in the intense emotional drama Treats, she was seen making a teary mobile phone call close to the rehearsal rooms where final preparations were being made for the play’s opening night.

Minutes later, Chris appeared, accompanying her to a pavement café where he tenderly held her hand as she sobbed uncontrollably.

MATT SMITH

After her marriage broke down, Bille Piper was seem looking cosy with Matt Smith, who played Doctor Who – three years before he scored the role.

Meanwhile, Billie played the Time lord’s famous assistant since its 2005 revival, while he was an unknown actor propelled to fame when chosen to star in the BBC series.

Pictured holding hands at a Surrey fete in 2006, the pair stroll together through the crowd, drinking Pimms and enjoying the sunshine.

At this point, the two actors had just been reunited on the set of ITV2’s Piper vehicle, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, in which Smith had a minor role. They had previously worked together on BBC drama The Ruby in the Smoke.

Although Smith and Piper never announced they were officially a couple, a friend who was with them on the day they visited the fete says their chemistry was unmistakeable.

‘They were very touchy-feely and seemed really at ease with each other,’ they said. ‘Everybody assumed they were a couple by the way they were acting.’

The friend added that the two actors did not go unnoticed by the crowd. ‘A lot of people were talking about how good they looked together,’ they said.

‘They were definitely having a great time. Obviously everyone knew who Billie was – but Matt wasn’t at all famous then. It’s amazing to think he has gone on to star in Doctor Who.’

Chris Evans was not Billie’s only husband – she also was married to Laurence Fox, who was famous for coming from an acting dynasty, and now for his political commentary work.

Now Billie Piper has reportedly split from her boyfriend Johnny Lloyd after eight years together.

The former Doctor Who star, 41, and the singer, 38, who share five-year-old daughter, Tallulah, decided to end their romance after lockdown had a major impact on their relationship.

Sources told The Sun on Sunday that the end of their relationship was ‘very sad’ and they are ‘better off apart.’

A source told the publication that Billie and Johnny actually split last year.

They said: ‘It’s obviously very sad that the couple have gone their separate ways.

‘But the relationship ran its course and they decided they would be better off apart. Like many couples, lockdown was quite tough for them, so they have had time to really think about what they want their future to look like.

‘They will always treasure the time they had together and have many happy memories.

‘Now they are concentrating on co-parenting their daughter and their separate careers.’

MailOnline has contacted Billie’s representatives for a comment.

Former Doctor Who star Billie was previously married to DJ Chris Evans, who is 17 years her senior, and actor-turned-political activist Laurence Fox, 45, with whom she has two sons.

Billie and Johnny welcomed their daughter Tallulah in January 2019 after it was confirmed in July 2018 that Billie was expecting her first child with the rocker.

A source told the Mirror at the time: ‘Billie and Johnny are delighted. They can’t wait to welcome the new addition to their family.’

She revealed she would love to have more children back in February, 2018, admitting: ‘In my dream world I’d have loads.’

One of Billie’s lesser-known loves (though a seminal relationship of the late 90s) was her pairing with Ritchie Neville.

The heart throb from boyband 5ive lasted a whole two years, with the teens getting together in 1998 then sadly ending their liaison in 2000.

At the time, Billie was seriously famous, after being offered a record contract in 1998 at the age of 15.

That year, she became the youngest artist to debut at number one in the UK Singles Chart.

Her record, Because We Want To, was released under the stage name Billie. It was followed by her next single Girlfriend, which also debuted at number one.

Meanwhile, 5ive, Richie’s band were not quite as successful: they debuted their first single Slam Dunk da Funk in 1998 at number 10.

It wasn’t really until after 2000, when Ritchie and Billie broke up, that the boyband became more successful.

Brad Pitt has secured the latest victory in the battle for control of the French vineyard he owned with ex-wife Angelina Jolie, in the latest twist in the so-called ‘War of the Rosés’.

The Chateau Miraval estate, which produces an award-winning sparkling rosé, is at the center of a protracted court battle between the pair.

Jolie sought to overturn a preliminary ruling from the LA Supreme Court that accepted her ex-husband’s claim that she sold her share of their beautiful vineyard to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler without his consent in 2021.

But in another victory for the Fight Club star, the court rejected allegations that his lawsuit was “frivolous, malicious and part of a problematic pattern.”

It now means Pitt’s legal team has the green light to take the lawsuit to court, in which the A-lister is suing Jolie for breaching an agreement that they would refuse each other first.

DailyMail.com’s court filings show that on March 8, the Hollywood star was given the green light to amend a rejected claim alleging breach of an “implied covenant” of fair dealing and good faith.

Judge Lia Martin rejected Jolie’s lawyers’ attempts to dismiss the lawsuit for breach of implied contract and quasi-contract, in the latest blow to Jolie and Shefler.

Last month the Mail revealed that Stoli had been stripped of a number of shares by a court in Luxembourg, making Pitt the majority shareholder.

The battle for the future of Chateau Miraval has so far been waged in courtrooms in France, Luxembourg and Los Angeles.

Pitt was shocked when his ex-wife sold her half of their beautiful Chateau Miraval estate to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler in 2021 without his consent.

After their bitter divorce in 2016, Jolie sold her stake in the company to Yuri Shefler’s Stoli Group. Pitt claimed she violated an agreement that they would give each other first refusal.

Financial documents seen by DailyMail.com in February showed that the ultimate owner of the shares is a shadowy trust on the island of Jersey, controlled by a company in which Shefler is not a shareholder.

The baffling business arrangements make it impossible to know who is pulling the strings, but friends of Hollywood star Pitt say he is determined to get to the bottom of the matter.

But in another victory for the Fight Club star, the court rejected allegations that his lawsuit was “frivolous, malicious and part of a problematic pattern.”

A source close to the actor said: “Brad wants Jersey to start giving answers. He should have the right to know who bought his company.

‘He has put his heart and soul into Chateau Miraval and feels like the rug is being pulled out from under him. He’s not sure who he’s doing business with.’

In an earlier filing, Pitt alleged that Shefler tried to “bully” and “threaten” him with defamation, arguing that the Russian tried to bully him into submission by issuing a press release announcing their “partnership” the day after Jolie’s deal was completed.

Shefler then demanded the pair meet for talks after “personally insisting” that the release “emphasize” they were partners with Pitt – despite the A-Lister only learning of the deal through the announcement.

The filings are part of the Oscar winners’ bid to reverse Angelina Jolie’s $64 million sale of her share of the Chateau Miraval estate to Shefler.

He says the 2021 deal violated Jolie’s previous promise to offer him first refusal if she ever sold.

Shefler is accused of contacting Jolie’s divorce lawyers after reports of a “heated custody dispute” in 2021.

Pitt’s team also says representatives from Stoli – Shefler’s international drinks conglomerate – made an “unsolicited” offer for Miravel following news of the couples’ split.

Shefler insists that the US courts do not have jurisdiction to hear a full trial on this case.

But the momentum in the legal battle appears to be with Pitt, after a court in Luxembourg stripped Shefler of 10 percent of his shares, effectively making Pitt the majority shareholder again.

His legal team secured victory by arguing that the shares were given in 2013 with the understanding that Jolie would not resell them.

Judge Carole Kerschen ruled that it was necessary to end the ‘blocking of decision-making’ and save the company. A merits hearing in about two years is likely to decide that Pitt regains full control of the shares, which were transferred to Jolie’s company for one euro.

A source close to the actor previously said that the ruling leaves Shefler with “virtually no control” over the multibillion-dollar business in Provence.

Pitt and Jolie purchased the 1,300-acre Miraval estate in 2008 as 60-40 partners, with Pitt as the majority shareholder.

Five years later, he donated an extra 10 percent to Jolie’s company Nouvel for one euro, making them equal.

But after their acrimonious split in 2016, the estate found itself at the center of a $350 million divorce battle.

In 2021, Jolie sold Nouvel to a group controlled by Shefler. Pitt’s lawyers claimed she “knew and intended that Shefler and its subsidiaries would attempt to control the company.”

Ariana Grande has revealed she ‘cried herself to sleep’ and ‘needed therapy’ following her split from ex-husband Dalton Gomez.

The 30-year-old pop star, who has remained tight-lipped about her private life, plans to tell her truth on Eternal Sunshine, her highly anticipated new studio album.

Ariana and Dalton split last year after just two years of marriage, and their divorce was settled in October.

She soon entered into a controversial relationship with her current boyfriend and Wicked co-star Ethan Slater.

In Don’t Wanna Break Up Again Ariana sings: ‘I fall asleep crying, you turn up the TV. You don’t want to hear me.’

The singer continues, “Honey, I made it so easy. Spent so much on therapy. With my own codependency. But you didn’t even try.’

Other songs, such as Bye, also provide insight into the breakdown of her marriage as she sings, “So I’m packing up, Courtney just pulled up in the driveway, it’s time, goodbye. Maybe one day we will look back fondly.

“I didn’t think you would lose me. Now it’s just too late to choose me.’

She sent fans into a frenzy after the release of Eternal Sunshine as they speculated that her husband Dalton might have cheated on her.

Listeners quickly noticed that the cryptic lyrics in the title track accused her husband of being unfaithful.

Fans claimed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that if Dalton was unfaithful, Ariana “deserves an apology” after months of being accused of trespassing over her romance with Ethan Slater.

The lyric in question was: “So now we play our separate scenes // Now she’s in my bed, on your chest // Now I’m in my head wondering how it ends.”

Fans were quick to read between the lines and rushed to social media to claim Dalton cheated on Ariana during their wedding.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Dalton Gomez for comment.

Ariana and Dalton both filed for divorce on September 18, with documents obtained by TMZ showing that Ariana’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, cited the reason as “irreconcilable differences” with a divorce date of February 20, 2023.

Sources told the outlet that everything was “worked out” between the former couple “before they went to the courthouse” and added that the actress planned to “write Dalton a check” to officially dissolve the marriage.

The couple filed for divorce months after their planned separation date, and an insider explained to TMZ that the reasoning was so they could “iron details and reach a settlement.”

According to the source, Ariana and Dalton have “no hard feelings,” adding “they have been truly caring and respectful of each other through every step of this process.”

The Grammy winner and the real estate agent first started dating in January 2020 and the couple got engaged in December of the same year.

In May 2021, the two tied the knot in an intimate yet romantic wedding ceremony at her Montecito home, before news of their divorce emerged in July 2023.

Ariana has been under public scrutiny since July 2023, when rumors swirled that she was dating Ethan just days after news of her split from Dalton emerged.

To add to the scandal, Ethan had only recently ended his marriage to Lilly Jay, his high school sweetheart.

In the ’80s-inspired song Yes, And? Ariana appears to clap back at the criticism, repeatedly asking, “Yes, and?” she encourages listeners to think about why they feel compelled to comment on her life.

“Your business is your own, and mine is mine,” the pop princess also moans, before adding, “Why do you care so much whose dick I ride?”

In another line, she sings, “Now I’m so done caring about what you think, no, I won’t hide under your own projections or change my most authentic life.”

The ex-husband of Kathleen Folbigg, the woman who was recently pardoned after being wrongfully imprisoned for murdering the couple’s four children, has died of a heart attack.

Craig Folbigg, who was also suffering from cancer, is understood to have been taken to Maitland Hospital in the NSW Hunter Valley on Saturday and died on Monday.

Mrs Folbigg was convicted of three murders and one manslaughter in 2003 after her babies Patrick, Sarah, Laura and Caleb died between 1989 and 1999.

After 20 years behind bars, she was released from prison in June last year due to ‘reasonable doubt’ about the cause of the children’s deaths.

Folbigg was “frustrated and disappointed” by the decision to pardon the previously accused child murderer, his lawyer said.

He had “not changed his mind” about the causes of the babies’ deaths, despite a new investigation finding there was reasonable doubt about his ex-wife’s convictions.

In December, the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal quashed Ms Folbigg’s convictions.

Mr Folbigg gave evidence against his ex-wife at her trial and handed over some of her diaries to police, saying it was those documents that led him to suspect she had murdered their children.

He refused to provide a DNA sample to scientists investigating genetic sequencing, and did not attend any further hearings or participate in the final investigation into his ex-wife’s convictions.

Mr Folbigg’s lawyer, Danny Eid, described how his client felt after his ex-wife was pardoned and released last June.

“He is the victim of this case,” Eid said.

“He is frustrated and disappointed that he has to endure another chapter.

“This is a man who people say will heal with time. But all the while his wounds continue to bleed.’

Mr Eid said that after losing four children aged from 19 days to 18 months in such tragic circumstances, closure was important to Mr Folbigg and his family.

However, he said that after 20 years of watching multiple attempts to overturn Ms Folbigg’s conviction and several painful investigations, ‘the wound can never heal’.

Mr Folbigg remarried in 2004 and had a son with his second wife Helen in 2005.

In recent years he led a quiet life in Branxton in the Hunter Valley and ran a lawn mower maintenance business in nearby Kurri Kurri, refusing to comment on his ex-wife or the fate of their children.

Lawyer Rhanee Rego made a statement on behalf of Ms Folbigg to News Corp publications on Tuesday afternoon.

“There are only two people on this earth who knew what it felt like to lose Caleb, Patrick, Sarah and Laura,” Ms. Rego said. “My condolences go out to the loved ones Craig leaves behind.”

Mr Folbigg's lawyer, Danny Eid, said in June last year:

Ms Folbigg was released after Tom Bathurst QC conducted an investigation which found there was reasonable doubt about her conviction.

Mr Bathurst’s report said he was ‘firmly convinced that there was reasonable doubt as to Ms Folbigg’s guilt for each of the offenses for which she was originally tried’.

According to the report, scientific progress has shown that there is a “reasonable possibility that three of the children died of natural causes.”

Mr Bathurst ‘could not accept the proposition that Mrs Folbigg was anything but a caring mother to her children’.

“In the case of Sarah and Laura Folbigg, there is a reasonable possibility that a genetic mutation known as CALM2-G114R caused their deaths,” the findings said.

In relation to the death of the fourth child, Mr Bathurst found ‘the coincidence and tendency at the heart of…’ [original 2003] Croncase falls away’.

Mr Bathurst, a former NSW chief justice, also addressed what Ms Folbigg had written in her diary which had previously been used against her.

“There is evidence that they were the writings of a grieving and possibly depressed mother, who blamed herself for the death of each child, contrary to admissions that she had killed or otherwise harmed them,” he found.

The inquiry in February last year heard evidence from experts about scientific developments that could potentially prove some of her babies died from natural causes linked to a genetic mutation.

On a grey afternoon in Edinburgh last November, four women took celebratory photographs together at the city’s train station — something that only months earlier no one could ever have imagined.

They were bittersweet souvenirs of a momentous occasion; hours earlier, the women had sat together in court while Aaron Swan, the man who had raped and abused them, was finally convicted of a series of sexual offences.

All four women were his victims, and all had thought they would never see him brought to justice — none more so than Natalie Collins, a 39-year-old charity leader who was married to Swan for four years and who had made her own allegation of rape against him in 2005.

Swan, also 39, had been found not guilty, but in the intervening years Natalie never lost hope of seeing the man she claimed had assaulted her and subjected her to years of terrifying coercive control be met with the full force of the law. Now she had joined forces with his other victims, forming an unlikely sisterhood that gave them all the strength to face their abuser and ensure that he could not do to others what he had done to them.

Unique bond: All of Swan’s victims keep in touch and take comfort in what they’ve achieved

Overwhelming: Natalie, who waived her anonymity,  teamed up with several other women to bring her ex husband - who had been acquitted of her rape - to justice for several other attacks

Overwhelming: Natalie, who waived her anonymity,  teamed up with several other women to bring her ex husband – who had been acquitted of her rape – to justice for several other attacks

‘I feel like I was Victim Zero,’ says Natalie, who has courageously waived her anonymity in order to share her remarkable story. ‘My case cannot be retried, but I take huge comfort from the fact that Aaron will not be able to hurt other women for a long time — and that it was his victims who came together to make that happen.

‘We’d all been through so much that it was overwhelming — we all cried when the verdicts were read out. Later, one of the other victims messaged me to say “my justice is your justice”, which touched me to my core.’

Theirs is certainly a story of courage and redemption, although it is one that also raises sobering questions for our justice system. Swan had been placed on the sex offenders register at the age of 19 for sexually abusing a teenage girl and was also later convicted of possessing indecent images of children.

Nonetheless, he was able to commit offences over two decades, and may yet be investigated for other accusations of rape as other women’s stories have emerged.

‘He has been raping and sexually abusing women for 26 years, since he was a teenage boy,’ says Natalie. ‘I feel a burning anger that he managed to nearly destroy so many lives.’

Nearly being a crucial word here; today Natalie is adamant that she does not want to be defined by what Swan did to her.

Despite this, there is no doubt Swan’s abuse took its toll. She had to fight hard to rebuild her life, suffering a breakdown shortly after meeting her second husband of 17 years, a friend she had known since she was a teenager. ‘There were days when I could barely function at all,’ she confides. ‘In the end, it was my faith that kept me going, the sense there was something bigger than me guiding me forward.’

Yet that same faith had also contributed to the way that, aged 17, she fell under Swan’s spell.

Raised alongside her siblings in a strongly evangelical but happy Christian family, her views about sex and relationships as a teenager were naive. It left her vulnerable to the advances of the ‘incredibly attractive and charming’ Swan, who she met at a party. Six foot two, with a soft Scottish accent, he had a reputation for being a bad boy, but told Natalie he had ‘found God’ and was a reformed character.

She describes what happened next as ‘love bombing’ — a recognised term for the way coercive relationships unfold.

‘He’s telling me how amazing I am; how he wants to be with me all the time,’ she recalls. ‘Really quickly, I was enthralled by him.’

Such was his persuasiveness that within 12 days of meeting, he had manipulated Natalie — whose religious views meant that she did not believe in sex before marriage — into sleeping with him. ‘At that point I literally felt I would have to marry him,’ she says. Yet it was not long before Swan’s previous attentiveness all but vanished.

‘The compliments shifted to things like, “I’m never going to get over my ex-girlfriend. It’s not your fault, but you can’t ever be as good as her”,’ Natalie recalls.

He also admitted to sleeping with someone else. ‘Obviously I was ¬devastated, but I felt I had to forgive him,’ she says now.

‘Rather than running a million miles, I was seized by this sense that my love could save him.’

Swan also refused to use contraception, and within six months Natalie was pregnant, leading to a hastily arranged marriage not long after Natalie, still only 18, had given birth to daughter Isabelle*.

In the aftermath, Swan told her he had been serially unfaithful. ‘It was so complicated,’ says Natalie. ‘I was in a constant state of high distress, but felt I couldn’t leave him because he was the father of my child.’

Alarmed by the changes in their daughter, Natalie’s parents encouraged her to leave Swan, but it didn’t last. ‘He manipulated me back within a couple of days,’ she says. ‘So then I didn’t talk to them about it — I was embarrassed I didn’t have the skills to resist him. It was really torturous, being in this relationship with somebody who was so harmful, but not feeling able to escape.’

Events reached a head in 2004 when Natalie found out that Swan, then 20, was sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl. After confronting him, Natalie reported him to the police and he was convicted of having a sexual relationship with a minor, before being placed on the sex offenders register for five years.

‘Even then he talked his way out of it, made me feel that on some level my love could save him,’ she says. ‘I was so broken.’

Even worse was to come. Sexually violent throughout the relationship, the following year Natalie says that Swan raped her — by then 19 and heavily pregnant with the couple’s second child Jake*.

The attack, which started when she was asleep, was so vicious it was enough to persuade her to get out for good. She was in the process of trying to find somewhere new to live when, a week later, she went into labour 12 weeks early, almost ¬certainly as a consequence of the stress. Her son was so unwell that Natalie had to spend the next five months living in hospitals with her then two-year-old daughter.

With time away from him to think, she finally found the courage to leave Swan for good and report him to the police for rape. It was a line in the sand of sorts, although he continued to exert continual pressure on her, despite the fact she had moved from the area and he did not know where she lived.

‘I was 20, with two tiny children and I was highly vulnerable, but they released him on bail and within five minutes he’d rung me and started to pressure me to stop the case.’

The calls continued until the case went to court in May 2006. Although Natalie stood her ground, supported by family and friends who had rallied round, Swan argued they had had consensual sex within weeks of the alleged rape, undermining his wife’s accusation. She says now: ‘I was exhausted and vulnerable and in no position to stand up to him.’

He was found not guilty.

‘On one level it was devastating, but just knowing he’d been made to take the stand and answer the -questions of the prosecution was meaningful in its own right. It helped me to move forward.’

The process of building a new life was helped by the fact that as well as Natalie being given sole custody of their children, as a convicted sex offender Swan was allowed no contact with them. ‘Otherwise, he would have used that to try and abuse me further, which is a position many women find themselves in,’ she says. It was this knowledge that spurred her on to establish a course — ownmylifecourse.org — designed to help victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence.

Natalie trains providers to teach her course, which 10,000 women have accessed to date. ‘It became a mission for me to empower as many other women as possible to take control of their lives.’

She could have no idea that years later the course would end up helping other victims of her ex-husband.

Three years ago, by then living in Sunderland, her 17-year-old daughter established contact with her biological father on Facebook.

‘On some level I had known this day would come, but I was still ¬horrified,’ says Natalie. ‘My biggest concern was that he would sexually abuse her or her friends, so I immediately got the police and social services involved.’

It led to the discovery that, in 2010, Swan had been convicted for possession of illegal images of children, meaning a ten-year extension to his time on the sex offenders register. ‘Yet he was allowed unsupervised contact with three children from other relationships,’ she says.

After rekindling contact with Swan’s sister, Amy, with whom she had previously had a good relationship, Natalie was horrified to learn that her former husband had continued his pattern of predatory behaviour. After moving to the Scottish Borders, he had married a teenager, Olivia*, whom he had groomed over the internet when she was just 16 and who was pregnant by the age of 17.

‘Because she was over the age of sexual consent, and even though Aaron was on the sex offenders’ register, nobody saw him as a risk to her,’ Natalie says.

The couple were together for ten years, nine of them married, and had two children together until the relationship ended when Olivia discovered that Swan had got a 19-year-old girl pregnant.

‘He then began to terrorise her, slashing her tyres, writing expletives in faeces on her car,’ says Natalie. ‘She also reported him for two incidents of rape.’ Hearing this news for the first time was ‘shocking’. ‘Not so much his abuse, but that he had been allowed to do it. I felt this strong sense of a system having failed,’ she says.

After being put in contact with each other through Amy, the two women agreed to meet in a park with their children.

‘It was very emotional,’ she says. ‘We realised that Aaron had ¬controlled both of us, isolated us from our support network and attacked us in our sleep.’

There was a further horrifying twist to Olivia’s story: she had to confront the realisation that in 2013 her then fiance had also raped her best friend Hannah* in a bedroom of their family home.

Olivia had subsequently cut off all contact with Hannah after believing Swan’s assertion that she had ‘seduced’ him.

While Hannah had not reported the attack to the police — fearing she would not be believed — she did speak to a rape crisis charity shortly after the attack. Upon seeing on Facebook that Olivia and Swan were no longer together, Hannah reached out to her old friend. Encouraged by Olivia, it was only in 2021 that Hannah finally felt able to report Swan’s rape to the police.

Meanwhile, Swan had already moved on. By now, he was in another long-term relationship with Becky*, a young woman who, given their own experiences, Natalie and Olivia both suspected Swan may have been harming.

‘Amy had some contact with her and managed to persuade her to go on the Own My Life course,’ says Natalie. ‘Slowly, she began to understand that what he was doing was abuse.’

In the wake of this, Becky then felt able to make her own allegation of rape in 2022. The Scottish law’s Moorov doctrine allows unconnected cases to be tried together if there is mutual corroboration between the separate acts. This meant that Swan could be charged with cumulative accounts of raping all three of them.

The women sobbed through their evidence, while Amy, Swan’s sister, also corroborated the accounts of Olivia and Becky, who had confided in her about their experiences. ‘Amy is an amazing woman,’ says Natalie. ‘She took the stand and supported every single one of the women that he hurt. We were so grateful to her for standing up for us against him.’

When it came to his turn on the stand, Swan claimed the offences either did not happen or were consensual, but admitted to cheating on Olivia with 18 other women.

Finally, in November, a jury found Swan guilty of six of the seven offences with which he was charged, although one charge of rape against Becky was found ‘not proven’. Now remanded in custody, Swan is awaiting the outcome of an assessment for an Order of Lifelong Restriction, meaning he is considered such a risk he must be monitored for the rest of his life. He is due to be sentenced next month.

‘He showed no emotion at all,’ Natalie recalls.

‘At times, I was stricken by deep grief for all he’s taken from us, but I was also absolutely enraged at him — and at the injustice of how long he has got away with hurting women and children.’

All the women suspect there may have been other victims, although Natalie’s case cannot be retried. ‘If he can stay in prison then that doesn’t matter; I just want him not to be able to hurt anyone else,’ she says.

That knowledge is shared between all Swan’s victims, who take great comfort from what they have achieved together.

‘All of us meet up occasionally and gather together with our kids. We have a unique bond,’ she says. ‘It’s forged through something horrible, but out of it has come something wonderful.’

She was relegated to the sidelines for years after her high-profile divorce from Prince Andrew in 1996, but now Sarah Ferguson appears to be firmly back in the royal circle.

The 64-year-old Duchess of York, still affectionately known to most as Fergie, was invited to the King’s Coronation Concert in May and spent Christmas at Sandringham, where she walked to church with members of the royal family.

As if that wasn’t enough to prove that the mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie has been brought in from the cold, she took center stage at the memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece at Windsor Castle yesterday.

In an extraordinary turnaround after being barred from royal duties by his mother, the late Queen, and stripped of his HRH and military titles just two years ago, 64-year-old Andrew led the Firm to St. George’s Chapel – and his ex-wife was right. his side.

“Prince Andrew and the Yorks are firmly back in the fold,” a royal watcher told MailOnline after the Duke and Duchess’ joint appearance at the service.

The extraordinary reversal of fortune for Sarah – which would have been unthinkable if Prince Philip were still alive – is attributed to the King rewarding her loyalty and the Duchess finding a powerful advocate in Queen Camilla.

A source told The Mail On Sunday earlier this month: ‘There is a feeling that whatever Sarah’s personal faults – and she can be like Marmite in that respect – she has been a good mother to the girls and loyal to Andrew. ‘

A friend of Charles echoed this sentiment, telling The Daily Mail’s Richard Kay in December: “[The King] has always valued loyalty and he appreciates everything Fergie has done for his brother.

“It may be an exaggeration to say she kept him alive, but she certainly kept him healthy. Imagine what Andrew would be like without Sarah, who despite everything is one of life’s optimists?’

In the four years since Andrew fell from grace due to his ties to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, no one has been more supportive of him than his ex-wife, who has not shied away from publicly defending him.

The king – who softened his approach to Sarah last year – also admires the way the duchess has restored her own reputation while keeping her family together.

The royal family is unlikely to have forgotten the ‘toe-sucking’ photos of Fergie, taken while she was on holiday with her Texan tycoon lover, nor the way she offered Andrew access in return for cash and got caught in a newspaper sting.

But in recent times the Duchess – who still lives with Andrew at the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park in Berkshire – has found a powerful advocate in the King’s wife, who “likes Sarah,” a source said.

The insider told Mail On Sunday earlier this month: ‘They are both royalty. They share a love of horses and Fergie will be smart enough to play the game with Camilla and realize that she is the power behind the king. That she should be nice to them and support them.’

In December, the Duke and Duchess of York walked behind seniors as crowds lined the road outside St Mary Magdalene Church for the traditional Christmas Day service at the Norfolk estate.

It was the first time in 32 years that Fergie had joined the royals for the walk, after Prince Philip banned him from attending.

According to his biographer Gyles Brandreth, she was ‘out of bounds’ as far as Philip was concerned, and ‘vulgar, vulgar, vulgar’ as one courtier memorably said.

For years, her ex-husband took their daughters to royal family celebrations without Sarah. She wasn’t even on the guest list for Prince William and Kate’s wedding in 2011, with the rest of her immediate family attending the glittering occasion.

In a 2021 interview with Town & Country, the Duchess revealed that she herself felt she was not “worthy” of attending the event and left the country.

‘I didn’t think I was worth going to their wedding. I actually took myself to Thailand to get away from it so I could try to heal,” she said.

But the attitude towards Fergie softened somewhat in 2018, when she was invited to Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle.

Sarah was then invited to the coronation concert as a ‘VIP visitor’ in May 2023, according to reports from The Sun. Although she was not allowed to attend the coronation itself; her daughters and Prince Andrew attended the historic Westminster Abbey event.

Meanwhile, Camilla was the highest-ranking royal at the event for the late King Constantine of Greece yesterday, while her husband King Charles was absent as his cancer treatment continued.

But after Prince William pulled out of the service at St George’s Chapel at the last minute for unspecified ‘personal reasons’, Prince Andrew was left as the second-highest royal gift, leaving others including Princess Anne, Zara and Mike Tindall, led on foot. .

Phil Dampier told MailOnline: ‘It’s very special that Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson were front and center as they walked into the chapel, almost like old times.

‘Yes, it was a private family event, but it was a big turnout of royals that was seen by the public.’

It is understood that the Duke of York attended the service as a member of the British Royal Family and was invited by the Greek Royal Family, and as such yesterday’s appearance was not an official royal engagement.

The service marked the first public event the Duke has attended since the Christmas Day service at Sandringham – and came almost two years after he settled the sexual assault case brought against him by Virginia Giuffre, a sex slave victim of Andrew’s friend. Jeffrey Epstein.

The settlement was never disclosed but was estimated to be worth approximately £12 million ($16.3 million).

It spared him the need to testify under oath at any trial in the US, and it was claimed the Queen helped him pay for that. Andrew has vehemently and repeatedly denied all allegations against him.

The Duchess has consistently defended her ex-husband, branding him a “thoroughly good, very gentle man” who “shines” as a grandfather during an appearance on Lorraine in August 2021.

“Prince Andrew is such a good man, he really is a very good man,” she said during the TV interview.

“He is a very gentle man, he is a very good father and we have done very well with co-parenting, hence our girls are very solid and down to earth.

‘But now he is really good as a grandfather, he can talk for hours about football and the like. It’s a pleasure to see him really shine as a grandfather.’

In 2018, Sarah told the Daily Mail: ‘We are the happiest divorced couple in the world. We are separated from each other, not from each other […] It is my duty to him. I am so proud of him. I support him and always will. The way we are is our fairy tale.’

Recently, speculation has arisen that the Duke and Duchess of York are thinking about getting married again.

The rumors came after Sarah revealed she was diagnosed with malignant melanoma just months after undergoing a second round of reconstructive surgery following a breast cancer diagnosis.

Despite a double health blow, the Duchess has maintained a business-as-usual approach, including posting to Instagram and attending events like yesterday’s.

Paloma Faith has opened up about her split from husband Leyman Lahcine and how it inspired her new album, The Glorification of Sadness.

The singer, 42, married the French artist, 36, in 2017 and welcomed two daughters together before splitting in 2022 after nine years together.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast on Thursday, Paloma said she was 'devastated' by the split and that her record was about capturing her grief.

She said: 'It's my sixth album. It's all about illustrating the stages of grief I went through when I broke up with the father of my children.

The voices of 'My Children' are included on the album. I feel devastated by the situation, but it describes those stages of grief, so to speak. It's been a little over two years now and it's been a labor of love.'

Appearing on BBC Breakfast on Thursday, Paloma said she was “devastated” by the split and that her record was about capturing her grief.

Paloma admitted that writing the album was helpful for post-breakup recovery, but talking about it again in interviews opened old wounds.

She said: 'As I was writing it I felt it was very therapeutic to do it. But coming back and doing interviews feels like kicking off the scab every time. As if you are experiencing all those feelings again.

'Fortunately, 50 percent of marriages end in divorce, so there are a lot of people in the country who will understand. People relate to it and it's like you're putting into words things that aren't necessarily said often in the context of popular music.”

Speaking about her decision to bare her soul in history, Paloma said she wanted to open up to the “invisible labor” of women, especially mothers, due to societal expectations.

She said: 'I think it's a taboo subject and that's not great. Many parents have come to me because of the songs about guilt and the invisible labor women undergo.

“There's a song called Bad Woman that's all about the expectations of women in society. It's quite a feminist record and by feminist I don't just mean for women, I mean to open people's minds because feminism affects all genders. Bad Women is about rejecting social pressure on women.

Paloma, whose two girls are aged seven and three, said: 'I actually think it's quite important to raise two daughters of my own.

“My three-year-old asks me to sing [Bad Woman] to her every night before she goes to sleep and she tells everyone she is a bad woman. And I'm very much in favor of her wanting to become one, because I think society relies too much on women.

Speaking about her decision to bare her soul in history, Paloma said she wanted to open up to the “invisible labor” of women, especially mothers, due to societal expectations.

'We're working, we're mothering, we always have to be nice no matter the amount of stress, and when we're not, people say, 'She's a bit reserved.'

“And I don't necessarily feel like there's pressure on men at the same level and in the same way. So I actually feel a bit cheated by the patriarchy.

'It is an invisible mental burden that mothers in particular have. There's so much pressure, you know we have to be young, we have to be nice, we have to be mothers, we have to work – it's like, oh my god, this is a lot.'

Host Naga Munchetty asked the Only Love Can Hurt Like This hitmaker if she had thought about what Leyman thought about Paloma being so open on album, and what her children would think when they grew up.

Paloma responded, “Well, I feel like if you listen to the album, it's very focused on my internal experience. It's not a finger-pointing album, it's not a revenge album.

'It' is all about my inner experience and in a way I think it's quite positive because they've listened to it and have a bit more empathy.'

She insisted: 'I'm not an angry person. I realized in a very hyper-aware way that it takes two people to start a relationship, just as it takes two people to end it.

“And it's more about me accepting responsibility on my part than me saying you did this or that. It's not a public blame game.”

However, she revealed that Leyman had not listened to the record and did not want to hear it in full, with Paloma only playing him one song.

She said: 'My partner and I actually have a very good relationship. Obviously he's creative, so he's pretty empathetic to everything, but he hasn't really listened to the record. He doesn't really want to, he says, “Play me whatever parts you want me to hear.”

'I played Divorce for him because for me it's the only one that's really about him. All the others are about my own experience and I was like, you have to hear this one.”

Paloma became emotional, adding, “And it's the one with our children's voices on it that gets me every time I hear it, I just feel so choked up. I'm about to get better.'

It comes after Paloma previously admitted she had a 'nervous breakdown' after the break-up, saying it was 'the worst thing that's happened to me'.

She appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday and currently discussed her relationship with Leyman.

She revealed: 'We're really good. We are doing very well and I think it is as good as it can be. I don't pretend to be like Gwyneth Paltrow, I don't consciously disconnect.

“Sometimes it's horrible, but we're navigating it and I think we're doing a lot better than some married couples.”

“My observation is that the reason our relationship is so good now is because I don't expect anything from him and vice versa.”

As for Leyman's feelings about speaking so openly about their split, Paloma said, “He knows what he signed up for.”

She added: “He was a little disappointed when he saw the end of my How You Leave A Man video. He said, “Why am I in the trunk?” It's a metaphor baby!

'He was a bit offended. But he knows now that we are together forever – it means that the fact that our love came together and made these children is absolutely eternal, it is infinite.

'We are in a different situation. I dedicated the album to him and my children to say this is infinite love.”

Kim Kardashian has warned her ex-husband Kanye West to tell his new wife Bianca Censori to 'cover up' and not wear her infamously scandalous outfits around their children, insiders claim.

Kim, 43, is said to be in a friendly relationship with 29-year-old Bianca – but is reportedly not a fan of her strutting her daring fashion for North, Ten, Saint, Eight, Chicago, Six and Psalm, Four. which she shares with the rapper.

“Kim instructed Kanye to never let Bianca dress like that around their kids,” a source told DailyMail.com exclusively. “She's really surprised that Kanye would let his wife leave the house like that.”

Australian-born Bianca has been pictured in a slew of eye-catching outfits since marrying 46-year-old Kanye in December 2022 – less than a month after his divorce from Kim was finalized.

She was photographed in a skimpy outfit that barely covered her breasts and bum at last weekend's Super Bowl, which was mocked online for looking like a “taco shell,” and just days before that she stepped out in a sheer trench coat with nothing underneath.

But in photos with Kim's children, Bianca's outfits are more reserved.

She wore long pants and an oversized black coat as she catered to North, Saint and Chicago at Kanye's Vultures listening party in Miami in December.

Kanye recently appeared to defend his wife's bizarre and sometimes lewd outfit choices, as well as his decision to post half-naked photos of her on his Instagram.

“I post my wife as much as I want,” he told his 19.5 million followers on Tuesday. 'It makes me happy. Some people don't want you to be happy. They want you to make them happy. I decided to make myself happy and I'm happy with that [sic].'

In contrast to Bianca's tacky wardrobe, Kim was asked to change her outfits when Kanye thought she was showing too much skin, with the artist heavily influencing her fashion choices during their seven-year marriage.

“Kanye did the same thing he did to Bianca and Kim during their wedding,” the source continued. “The difference is that when Kanye dressed Kim, he was respected as a person, as an artist.

“Unfortunately, Kim knows what Bianca is going through, but she believes Bianca should have known what she was getting into.”

The billionaire SKIMS founder spoke openly about Kanye's influence on her fashion choices throughout their relationship.

In a 2018 interview with W Magazine, she said, “I always thought I had really good style — until I met my husband, and he told me I had the worst style.”

And on an episode of Keeping Up with The Kardashians, she said: “Kanye has always dressed me. In the early 2000s, he would literally send me random emails with all these looks and what my style should be.”

When Kim disagreed with her husband's advice, he told her, “You're my wife, and it affects me when photos are too sexy.”

Kanye previously criticized Kim's SKIMS brand for being “overly sexualized.”

She also revealed that he disapproved of her 2019 Thierry Mugler Met Gala dress and labeled her corset a “form of underwear” the night before the event.

It wasn't just Kim's clothes that Kanye took issue with, but also her appearance.

At the Vogue 100 Festival in 2016, the brunette beauty said: 'My husband loves me without makeup. If I could, I'd wear makeup 24/7, but he likes me without it.'

But his apparent hold on Bianca's style has caused concern among her friends, who fear she has not only changed since she met him but is also being 'used' to promote his new album, Vultures.

It is also said that her parents were 'mortified' to see their daughter in such strange outfits – especially the sheer raincoat she recently wore with nothing but a pair of black boots.

“Her family and friends are in shock as it is getting worse and worse,” an insider previously told DailyMail.com exclusively.

“Bianca clearly doesn't realize that what she's wearing is not only disgusting and setting a bad example, but she may also be breaking the law.

“Meanwhile, Kanye is covered in five layers of clothing and when his wife looked cold while naked and wrapped in plastic, he didn't even offer her one of his capes.”

The source continued, “Her parents are so upset about this because they don't recognize her.

“She wouldn't do this unless she was being monitored.”

Kanye's recently released hit album Vultures features Bianca on the cover with her entire backside visible. Kanye has also used her to promote his Vultures-inspired clothing on Yeezy.com, including a “Wet T-Shirt” crop top.

“He continues to lock her down by giving her more shares and control over various projects he undertakes, including the clothing,” the insider added.
