Brittany Higgins was rushed to hospital in Perth on Tuesday evening.

The former Liberal staffer was treated at Royal Perth Hospital at 11pm on Tuesday evening, The West Australian reported.

Ms Higgins’ hospital visit came just hours after a nine-hour mediation session at the WA Supreme Court with her former boss, Senator Linda Reynolds, collapsed.

She reportedly spent several hours in the emergency department but was not admitted to a hospital ward.

On Wednesday evening, Senator Reynolds called the negotiations “difficult and testing” and wished Ms. Higgins “a speedy recovery.”

Legal negotiations are unfortunately sometimes difficult and testing for all participants and yesterday was an exhausting and difficult day for all of us,” Senator Reynolds told The Australian.

‘I have tried to keep stress to a minimum by avoiding any direct contact that might have been confrontational and relying on a very experienced judge to interact with Ms Higgins.’

Higgins revealed that she had proposed a two-week break in the case ‘to allow Ms Higgins and all parties to recover and get past the stress of court attendance and significant media attention’.

Although it is unclear why she went to hospital on this occasion, Ms Higgins previously spent five days in a mental health clinic during the first trial of her accused rapist.

She was admitted to a clinic after being found walking alone in the rain on the streets of Canberra in October 2022.

She then returned to the courtroom to complete her cross-examination.

The details could only be revealed after the lifting of a High Court ban order, following the decision to halt a second trial of her alleged rapist.

On Wednesday morning, Daily Mail Australia revealed that a planned conference between Ms Higgins and her fiancé David Sharaz and Senator Reynolds, due to take place later that day, had been sensationally scrapped.

It is unclear whether Ms Higgins’ hospital visit played a role in that decision.

Senator Reynolds is individually suing both Ms Higgins and her fiancé David Sharaz over a series of social media posts that she claims have damaged her reputation.

Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz moved permanently to France at the end of last year after buying a house near Bordeaux.

They had no plans to return to Australia but were forced to attend a court-ordered mediation session in Perth on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It was intended to avoid a costly lawsuit.

The group entered the courtroom at 10 a.m. Tuesday and left just before 7 p.m., without resolution. Wednesday’s session was subsequently suspended.

A trial is now expected to take place, likely to begin in May and last six weeks.

The two sides did not even face each other on Tuesday because Senator Reynolds wanted her own chamber on the court.

Daily Mail Australia understands Ms Reynolds opted for a private room away from the couple on Tuesday, meaning a mediator had to spend the day traveling between the parties.

It is also understood that Mrs Higgins was not allowed to bring a chaperone with her, which is why her best friend Emma Webster was absent.

Ms Webster stood by Ms Higgins during both Bruce Lehrmann’s criminal trial and when Ms Higgins appeared in court for his defamation action against Network Ten and Lisa Wilkinson.

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Ms Reynolds said: “Discussions between the parties are ongoing today.”

“There will be no further comment.”

As she went to court on Tuesday morning, Hs Higgins told reporters she believes everyone went to the hearing “in good faith.”

Neither she nor Mr Sharaz answered any questions as they left court with their lawyers later that evening.

Ms Reynolds left with her lawyer Martin Bennett and her partner Robert Reid.

“Long day,” she said, grinning widely to the waiting media.

“It’s still ongoing, so it’s not appropriate for me to comment on it yet.”

Monday’s hearing was held as Judge Marcus Solomon urged the parties to resolve the issue before going to trial, citing the enormous costs often associated with defamation proceedings.

Ms Reynolds’ defamation case centers on social media posts fired by Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz.

She claims the messages implied she pressured Ms Higgins not to proceed with a complaint to police about her alleged rape, and interfered with Mr Lehrmann’s criminal trial.

Ms Higgins is also accused of breaching a non-disparagement clause in a settlement contract she entered into in 2021, which prevents her from speaking negatively about Ms Reynolds.

The senator is seeking higher damages, an injunction to restrain Ms. Higgins from publishing allegedly defamatory material, and another injunction to restrain her from breaching the settlement agreement.

Ms Reynolds is simultaneously suing Mr Sharaz separately alleging he defamed her in five social media posts, which were allegedly ‘falsely defamatory’ and caused her ‘loss and damage’.

It comes just months after Ms Reynolds attempted to freeze Ms Higgins’ assets.

Ms Higgins received around $2.4 million from taxpayers in 2022 on claims her political career was in ruins after she alleged she was raped by former colleague Bruce Lehrmann at Parliament House in 2019.

Mr Lehrmann has consistently denied the allegations and is currently suing Channel 10 and Lisa Wilkinson – who broke the story about The Project in 2021 – for defamation.

Brittany Higgins and David Sharaz flew all the way from France for a mediation hearing with her old boss Linda Reynolds.

But the two sides did not face off because the Western Australian Liberal senator wanted her own chamber at the court.

New details could be revealed on Tuesday at the mediation hearing between Ms Higgins, Mr Sharaz and Ms Reynolds.

It comes as Daily Mail Australia can reveal a planned conference of the parties scheduled for Wednesday has been sensationally scrapped.

Senator Reynolds is suing Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz individually for defamation in the WA Supreme Court over a series of social media posts that she claims have damaged her reputation.

On Monday, Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz traveled from their new home in Lunas, France, to Perth for a court-ordered mediation session, hoping they could settle the dispute and avoid a costly six-week trial.

The group entered the courtroom at 10 a.m. Tuesday and left just before 7 p.m., without resolution.

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Ms Reynolds said: “Discussions between the parties are ongoing today.”

“There will be no further comment.”

If the group fails to reach an agreement after the nine-hour session, it could mean the dispute goes to court later this year.

Linda Reynolds’ defamation lawsuit against Brittany Higgins and her fiancé David Sharaz failed to reach a settlement on their first day of mediation, raising the likelihood that they would go to trial.

The Liberal senator had a mediation session with the couple at the WA Supreme Court on Tuesday to try to resolve the differences.

Still, after nine hours of talks, the parties failed to reach an agreement.

There will be a strategic conference on Wednesday at 2.30pm and a trial is expected to take place in July, which could last up to six weeks.

Linda Reynolds left the court with her lawyer Martin Bennett and her partner Robert Reid.

“Long day,” she told the waiting media.

“It’s still ongoing, so it’s not appropriate for me to comment on it yet.”

Ms Higgins wore a $1,300 cornflower blue ‘Ahana dress’ with long sleeves and a belt, while her fiancé wore a $200 silk knit tie and cream Ralph Lauren blazer as they burst into the building before Ms Reynolds arrived on Tuesday morning .

Ms Higgins told the media Perth was “beautiful” but a difficult place to return to. The last time she was with Senator Reynolds in Perth was in 2019, weeks after her alleged rape, when she was a member of the then minister’s staff.

However, outside court on Tuesday, Ms Higgins said she believes “everyone is acting in good faith”.

The mediation talks took so long that the guards had left and closed the revolving doors as all parties left the court.

The mediation session took place after Judge Marcus Solomon urged the parties to resolve the issue before going to trial, citing the enormous costs often associated with defamation proceedings.

The senator first threatened legal action in July last year, claiming she had been the target of “unwarranted criticism and abuse” since Ms Higgins went public with her rape allegations in 2021.

They had no plans to return to Australia, but had to go to court in Perth on Tuesday and Wednesday.

More to come.

Saint Laurent designer Anthony Vaccarello has shortened the label’s silhouettes for winter, wrapping models tightly in sheer silk dresses in muted colors for the runway show.

Models traversed the center of the set — two large, circular rooms with green curtains — in sky-high sling-back heels, revealing sheer layers of high-waisted underwear, sharply cut, elongating the thighs and accentuated with narrow straps.

There were sleeveless tops that wrapped around the neck, blouses and bustiers with bows, while skirts remained the same length – just below the knees.

“The length is classic, but the content is new,” read the show notes, tucked into envelopes left at each seat.

They also mentioned the famous ‘naked’ dress worn by Marilyn Monroe, as a reference for the designer.

Adding contrast to the fitted looks were furry coats made from ultra-light feathers, creating more voluminous silhouettes.

The collection was “brimming with combination,” said Simon Longland, purchasing director at London department store Harrods, noting that the “ladylike and conservative” style, however, produced a “slinky” appearance.

Paris Fashion Week runs through March 5, with upcoming shows from Chanel, Hermes, Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton.

It comes after Linda, who was once considered one of the most beautiful and striking beauties in the world, discussed the guilt she once felt after undergoing a surgical procedure.

Speak with the times, she discussed how he noticed that before the procedure she was always having fun and always laughing.

But after that, she says, she was a “clinically depressed recluse,” only venturing out at night where no one would see her.

The treatment consisted of seven sessions of a non-surgical procedure called CoolSculpting, which aimed to freeze away fat from her jawline, thighs, abdomen and back.

It had gone terribly wrong and instead it had thickened and “grown into hard, numb bulges that rounds of liposuction and weeks of full-body compression garments couldn’t fix.”

According to the Times, it was a comment from Linda’s son Augie a few years ago that encouraged her to return to therapy so she could become the cheerful character she always was.

He said, ‘Do you remember when you were so cute? Do you remember when you always laughed?’ This was a ‘wake-up call’

Linda has struggled with a number of issues, including breast cancer, for which she underwent a double mastectomy in 2018, but will have to undergo radiotherapy in 2018.

She added, “I was like, I’m not having contractions anymore. I’m going to fucking fix this.’

Linda Nolan has spoken out about the importance of supporting cancer patients after being traumatized when she shaved off her hair following chemotherapy.

The singer, 64, was first diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2005 before going completely clear in 2006, but the disease sadly returned in 2017 and spread to her liver and brain.

Last year she made the decision to shave her head after losing her hair for the fourth time due to her cancer treatment, in an attempt to take control as she battled the disease.

To mark World Cancer Day on Sunday, a photo of Linda, taken after she shaved her head, was projected on large screens in London's Piccadilly Circus and New York's Times Square as part of the BOLD exhibition for the Pink Ribbon Foundation.

Linda said, according to the Mirror: 'I've always said I was traumatized when I lost my hair. It was such a big deal for me, but this exhibition really reminds us what is important: support and solidarity.”

She added: “I wouldn't miss it. It was great to be part of the exhibition, along with all the other women who have either lost their hair or, like me, are in a phase of regrowth.'

Linda shaved her head last year after losing her hair for the fourth time while battling incurable cancer.

She said at the time that she had regained control with the help of her hairdresser friend, but was still “devastated.”

She told me Mirror: 'My friend who is a hairdresser came over and just shaved it. Then I said, “Give me a cap, let's have a drink!”

“Because I've also had steroid treatment and my face is swollen, I feel like I look like Mrs. Potato Head.”

She added, “People say, 'Well, you know you look great,' but inside I'm screaming, 'I just don't want to lose my hair anymore!' I was devastated to lose it.”

Linda recently revealed she is 'embracing every moment' after learning her tumors have shrunk.

Writing about the news in the Mirror in December last year, Linda revealed: 'I got the results of my scans. Because my appointment was later than usual, my head started racing…

'In fact, the advisor said these beautiful words: 'There is still shrinkage.' I mean, I wish for my waist, but I'll take it. I'll definitely take it with me!…

'Of course the tumors are still there and making themselves felt. The consultant explained that my memory loss, hearing loss and mild stuttering are due to a tumor affecting the area of my brain associated with cognitive behavior.'

Linda has also previously discussed how she suffers from memory loss during her battle with the disease, as she spoke about forgetting her niece Ciara's name.

She wrote in the Mirror: 'I had to turn to Coleen's son Jake's girlfriend and ask her the name of my niece, Coleen's daughter.

“My memory has been failing for a while, but that moment was as bad as it can get.”

But Linda insisted she would not panic or live in fear amid her struggles, saying she wanted to make the most of her time with her loved ones.

Linda rose to fame when The Nolans performed with her sisters (L-R: Maureen, Linda, Coleen and Bernie posing with their two brothers Tommy and Brian in 1981)

“I'm not going to panic because if I panic, the cancer wins,” she insisted. “I'm not going to live in fear because it will take over, and I have to focus on making the most of now.”

Linda recently said that for the third time she thinks she will not survive cancer and said that it has become a 'way of life' for her.

'I sounded the alarm twice. And I know now that I won't call again,” she wrote heartbreakingly in the Mirror.

'[Cancer has] now become a way of life. I have my cancer book – a title I never thought I would have in my library – which records all my blood counts, weight etc. (I have lost 4kg, although I think I could live on it for a while what's left). '

  • Iga Swiatek was defeated by Linda Noskova in the third round of the Australian Open
  • The world number 1 was the betting favorite for the women's singles

Teenager Linda Noskova caused a huge upset by knocking out world number one Iga Swiatek in the third round of the Australian Open.

Swiatek had dug herself a big hole in the second round against Danielle Collins, but she could not repeat the trick against Noskova and went down 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The endless production line of Czech female talent is one of the wonders of tennis, and 19-year-old Noskova is at the head of a new generation.

She was ranked 50th but would rise quickly, showing excellent maturity to turn the match around after losing the first set.

Noskova started to beat her illustrious rival in the second set and in the third, where a break of serve for 5-3 proved the crucial moment.

She looked stunned after converting her first match point and said: 'I'm obviously speechless.

'I knew it would be a great match with the number one in the world and such a player. I didn't really think it would end like this, but I'm just really happy to get through this round.”

She is the first teenager to beat a world number one at the Australian Open since Amelie Mauresmo defeated Lindsay Davenport in 1999.

Noskova hit 10 aces in a total of 35 winners, with a forehand return over the baseline from Swiatek sealing her fate.

It is only the second time in the last thirteen Grand Slam tournaments that Swiatek has failed to progress beyond the third round, but it marks a second early exit in a row after losing in the fourth round of the US Open.

However, she is guaranteed to retain top spot in the rankings, with her nearest challenger Aryna Sabalenka unable to gain any points after winning the tournament last year.

Linda Reynolds has doubled her bid to freeze Brittany Higgins' assets after the former staffer showed off her new life in the south of France, paid for by her $2.4 million taxpayer-funded payout.

The former defense minister is suing Ms Higgins and her fiancé David Sharaz for defamation in the Supreme Court of Western Australia over posts they each made on social media.

Ms. Reynolds wrote a letter to Ms. Higgins' lawyer, Leon Zwier, in December, pointing to reports that the couple had bought a house in the small town of Lunas and were planning to move permanently.

“If such reports are true, we believe that an application for freezing orders is appropriate,” the letter said.

Daily Mail Australia can now reveal that Ms Reynolds has taken the action further and sought French legal advice on whether the government would enforce an Australian ruling.

“I am considering my position and awaiting advice from French counsel on my right to enforce an Australian judgment against assets in France,” she said.

Ms Higgins gave evidence in Bruce Lehrmann's defamation case against Channel 10 in early December.

The former political staffer then flew to Europe with Mr Sharaz and their cavoodle Kingston to start their new lives before Christmas.

On Wednesday, she took to Instagram to share a series of photos from her recent travels, captioning the post with a quote from French philosopher Sartre: “Nous sommes nos choix.”

The phrase roughly translates to: “We are our choices.”

She added, “Here's a few of mine lately.”

One photo showed Mr Sharaz sitting at the end of a long table piled high with meat, potatoes, a large bowl of carrots and a bottle of champagne for their first Christmas abroad.

She also included a photo of the Arc de Triomphe at night, a Parisian street scene, art galleries and museums.

Ms Reynolds' defamation case will return to the WA Supreme Court on January 30, followed by a mediation conference on March 5 and a strategic conference on March 6.

Judge Marcus Solomon previously urged the parties to resolve the issue before going to trial, citing the enormous costs often associated with defamation proceedings.

Ms Higgins' multimillion-dollar civil claim against the Commonwealth was settled in December 2022 after just one day of mediation, and ten days after the ACT DPP dropped sexual assault charges against her alleged rapist, Bruce Lehrmann.

Mr Lehrmann has consistently maintained his innocence and last month sued Network Ten and Lisa Wilkinson in Federal Court for publishing Ms Higgins' 2021 rape allegations.

Judge Michael Lee presided over the case and has yet to rule.

During the defamation trial of Mr Lehrmann, Ms Higgins' plea agreement was released.

According to the claim, Ms Higgins' “pain, suffering and humiliation” was estimated at $400,000, past and future domestic help at $100,000, and $220,000 in medical expenses.

Legal fees totaled another $245,000, and $1,480,000 was paid for lost wages.

The payment was referred by Senator Reynolds to the National Anti-Corruption Commission. The NACC would not comment on what it is investigating.
