TCS Working from home Latest news today: With working from home for India’s largest IT company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), currently facing an unexpected problem. Three years after the COVID pandemic, TCS has ended working from home. However, the IT company’s new policy has not found many new additions to the female workforce, and they have recently quit their jobs.

In particular, TCS prioritizes gender diversity in the workforce and is known for providing women with numerous employment opportunities. However, the company claims that the decision to stop working from home (WFH) is one of the factors leading female employees to quickly resign.

According to TCS head of human resources, Milind Lakkad, there have been more layoffs of female employees after the company stopped working from home.

“I would think working from home during the pandemic resets household arrangements for some women, preventing them from returning to the office,” Milind Lakkad said in the company’s annual report last week.

Lakkad details, while there may be additional causes, this is the main one and stressed that the dismissal of female employees was not motivated by discrimination.

Lakkad further stressed that the higher turnover among women is a “setback” for the Tata Group company’s efforts to promote gender diversity and added that the company is focusing on reversing the trend.

It should be noted that TCS employs more than 6,00,000 people, 35% of whom are women and the IT giant has retained 38.1% of its female workforce in fiscal year 2023. More interestingly, female employees make up about three quarters of the top positions. TCS lost more than 20% of their workforce in the previous fiscal year.

The IT company did not say exactly how many female employees would have left the company because of the policy.

“The workforce grew to more than 614,000 employees with 35.7% female employees,” the company said in its annual report.
