Amit Shah, who released the BJP’s manifesto for the Assembly elections, said the party would form a committee for UCC when the party forms the government in Telangana.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will release the BJP’s manifesto for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections in the presence of BJP Telangana President G Kishan Reddy at Katriya Hotel in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Telangana Assembly Elections 2023: Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the BJP would implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and also scrap 4 percent reservation for Muslims in Telangana if the party comes to power in the November 30 polls.

Shah, who released the BJP’s manifesto for the Assembly elections, said the party would form a committee for UCC if the party formed a government in Telangana after the elections.

“The BJP government to be formed would form a committee to bring UCC in Telangana, which will implement the Uniform Civil Code within six months,” Amit Shah told reporters after releasing the manifesto.

BJP will remove religion-based reservations

The BJP manifesto promised the formation of a committee to draft a uniform civil code to consolidate and harmonize various personal laws.

The manifesto said unconstitutional religion-based reservations, including the 4 percent reservation for Muslims, will be abolished and reservations for OBCs, SCs and STs will be increased.

The BJP, upon taking power, would appoint an inquiry committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge to probe all allegations of corruption, including Kaleswaram and Dharani scams and other financial irregularities committed by the incumbent BRS government, it said manifesto.

VAT on petrol and diesel will be reduced

The manifesto also promised a reduction in value added tax on petrol and diesel, similar to that in the BJP-ruled states, besides providing four LPG cylinders per year free of charge to Ujwala beneficiaries.

The manifesto stated that the existing Dharani, an integrated land management portal introduced by the BRS government, would be replaced with a foolproof ‘mee Bhoomi’ system.

Besides offering Rs 3,100 worth of rice, the manifesto promised to provide Rs 2,500 as input assistance to small and marginal farmers to enable them to obtain seeds and fertilizers.

Free laptops for girl students

Free laptops will be given to students and a fixed deposit of Rs 2 lakh will be given to girls at birth, which can be redeemed after reaching the age of 21 years.

The BJP manifesto also stated that the party has decided to officially commemorate ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ on September 17 every year.

“We will celebrate August 27 as Razakar Horrors Remembrance Day to pay tribute to the martyrs of Bairanpally and Parkal. Further, upon assuming office, he will establish a museum and a memorial in Hyderabad to document the courageous struggle of the people of Telangana against the Razakars and the Nizams,” the BJP manifesto said.

Shah also targeted the Congress and said they were always against giving statehood to Telangana.

BJP manifesto PM Modi’s guarantee to Telangana

“This manifesto is Prime Minister Modi’s guarantee to Telangana. When Atal Ji was Prime Minister, three states were formed and no violence took place. Congress always rejected Telangana’s demand for statehood and for their own electoral benefits they formed Telangana in a hurry. They were never in favor of Telangana,” he said.

The Home Minister further alleged that Prime Minister KCR avoided the celebration of Hyderabad’s Liberation Day because he was afraid of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.

“Under KCR’s leadership, Telangana democracy turned into booty tantra and prajatantra into parivartantra,” he said.

BJP said in its manifesto that once it assumes power, it will appoint an inquiry committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge to probe all allegations of corruption, including the Kaleshwaram and Dharani scams and other financial irregularities committed by the incumbent BRS government.

“Here KCR spends Telangana’s money and there Congress spends Karnataka’s money. It’s not our policy. We contest and win elections only on the basis of agenda,” Amit Shah said.

Reiterating the election promise of installing a chief minister from the backward community if voted to power during its election campaigns in the state, the party said in its manifesto: “Channelizing the aspirations of 52 percent of the marginalized sections and providing real social justice and taking care of all people and ensuring their development, the BJP will appoint the first Chief Minister of Telangana from the BCs (Backward Classes).”
