Tesco Clubcard customers now have until TOMORROW to redeem their points for triple the amount after IT issues – here’s how

Tesco Clubcard customers have until tomorrow to redeem their points for triple the amount when used against a ‘Reward Partner’.

The value was due to be reduced to double from today – so 500 points would be worth £10 instead of £15 – but with UK customers experiencing technical difficulties yesterday, Tesco has extended the deadline, it reported. The mirror.

In addition to discounts, the Tesco Clubcard Reward Partner program also allows customers to earn points to spend on meals, travel and days out. Shoppers earn one point for every £1 they spend in-store or online.

The points are currently worth three times their value when spent with rewards partners such as Virgin Atlantic and Cafe Rouge.

But after 11:59 p.m. on June 15, this will be reduced to twice their value as the supermarket scales back its rewards system. This could mean missing out on savings at some of your favorite destinations, including Legoland and Pizza Express.

Tesco reportedly said the high demand to exchange points for vouchers ahead of the original June 14 deadline had led to technical difficulties.

As such, customers – several of whom took to Twitter to complain they couldn’t redeem their vouchers – now have until tomorrow to take advantage of the triple value.

Customers can redeem their points online and Reward Partner codes will be emailed from Tesco Clubcard. If you make a change via the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app, they will also appear in the ‘Rewards’ section.

All reward vouchers ordered before the deadline will be valid for one year at the current rate, instead of the usual six months.

As if that weren’t enough, Martin Lewis has revealed how to extend your usual points even longer. The Money Saving Expert recommends making a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards website – to have the remaining points deposited back into your account.

Mr Lewis explained: ‘Say you have a £10 voucher, go online, log in, spend say 50p of your £10, so you now have £1.50 worth of restaurant vouchers – because 50p becomes £1 .50.

‘For the rest of the £9.50 they reissue it and it lasts another two years.

“So if you only spend a small part of the voucher, the rest will be reissued and it will be valid for another two years.”

This latest change is another key point for Tesco customers looking to save, after the supermarket moved its points system from the ‘Clubcard’ app to a new ‘Grocery and Clubcard’ app in April.

Since 1995, Clubcards have helped Tesco customers save money when shopping. Every euro you spend equals one Clubcard point.

When you redeem these points in the form of vouchers to spend in Tesco, they are worth one cent per point.

Those with Clubcards can also access discounts on select products in-store and online, and redeem points for other rewards.

Other changes being made by Tesco include customers will collect one point for every two liters of fuel, rather than one point for every £2 spent.
