An investigation by insurers has revealed TWO strippers performed in lingerie at a funeral as part of the deceased's last wishes.

At other services, funeral directors dressed as Star Wars villain Darth Vader and Lord of the Rings wizard Gandalf.

Over-50s insurer Sun Life surveyed 100 funeral directors.

Mark Screeton, CEO of SunLife, said: “Over the past twenty years we have seen more and more great examples of how people are making their loved ones' funerals truly personal.

“Some requests about how the deceased should be dressed – or in some cases not – often stick in the memory.

“Like the man who wanted to be buried dressed as Santa Claus, the farmer who was buried on a bed of hay, or the gentleman in his nineties who, in addition to his entire family, was a naturist and therefore lay completely naked in his coffin. .

“Nobody batted an eyelid!”
