Travel blogger reveals 3 reasons ‘you should never visit the pyramids’ in Egypt – and it’s not good news if you’re claustrophobic

A TikTokker has revealed three reasons why you shouldn’t go to the pyramids in Egypt with a wink video.

Carmie Sellitto, from Hampshire, who is known as @touchdalight on the platform, shared a clip of himself and friend Millie touring the country’s famous landmarks.

The creator of TikTok, who is best known as a YouTuber, captioned the tongue-in-cheek clip “you have to be seriously careful when you come here.”

In the video, which has been viewed almost half a million times, he shows images of the outside and inside of the pyramids.

Meanwhile, a voice-over plays in which he explains his three reasons why you should not visit the historical constructions.

In the video, Carmie says, “Three reasons why you should
pyramids in Egypt, let’s go.

“The first reason is the fact that you have to climb on your knees for about 30-40 minutes and it gets tiring, let me tell you, it’s like an obstacle course.”

Of footage of his friend climbing up a narrow walkway and gently banging her head against the low ceiling, he says, “It’s pretty dangerous too. Watch my friend get hit.’

He outlines his second reason and jokes: ‘The second reason is the fact that it doesn’t have air conditioning.

‘How are you going to build these pyramids in 2023, but live without air conditioning?’

In case viewers hadn’t noticed the video was ironic, Carmie’s third reason makes it totally clear.

In the video, he reveals that visiting the ancient monuments is “so epic you won’t experience something like this again.”

Not everyone seemed to realize the ironic nature of the video. Some responded to the comments, leaving comments suggesting they didn’t quite get the joke.

One commenter said, “Well, they built it like a tomb, so maybe that’s why they didn’t put air-conditioning in the room, because it’s for the dead.”

Another added: ‘You’re a millennium – air con, get down on your knees! I really wonder what will happen if we suffer a war!’

And another wrote: “You thought there would be air conditioning… in a pyramid?”

Another seemed to share the sentiment and asked, “No, but honest question, what did you expect?” It was built this way INITIALLY for many purposes and not for tourism.’
