Police responded Wednesday to reports of an active shooter and “multiple victims” on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, authorities said.

Within about half an hour of the reported gunfire, police said a suspect was dead.

Those on campus were on lockdown as campus police investigated reports of gunshots inside Frank and Estella Beam Hall, a business school building. The circumstances of the victims were not clear.

The university later said that campus police had also responded to additional reports of gunfire at the student union, which is located next to the business school building.

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a ground stop at Harry Reid Airport, about two miles from campus.
