New York coffee shop Caffe Aronne sees ALL baristas quit on the same day in protest of its Jewish owner’s support of Israel – but customers are now lining up to show their support

Caffe Aronne owner Aaron Dahan was short-staffed Tuesday morning after his baristas left him as he addressed the “Free Palestine” pins they wore to work.

Dahan, 25, said a total of five baristas had run away since the October 7 terrorist attack in Israel, in which Hamas massacred 1,400 Israelis and kidnapped more than 200 civilians – including at least 13 American citizens and 23 Thai farm workers.

The business owner displayed an Israeli flag in the cafe and started a fundraising campaign for Magen David Adom, the Israeli Red Cross.

‘Our staff was young. They think they know everything, liberal, university educated,” said Dahan, who is Jewish The New York Post on Tuesday.

‘They think we support genocide, that we support colonialism. They know the keywords, but they don’t really know what they mean,” he added.

Dahan said he was disappointed by the dismissal of his staff, whom he considered family.

Before they stopped, Dahan made an effort to sit down with his baristas and talk to them about their differing views.

‘We knew our staff. We knew they were thinking these things. I said, “Let’s eat. Let’s sit. Let’s ask questions. Let’s learn. Let’s realize that we’re not all here to kill each other,” Dahan said.

Aaron’s mother, Peggy Dahan, said she was bombarded with emails Tuesday morning announcing the layoffs of all baristas.

Despite her son’s suggestion that they close that day, Peggy refused.

She said the community has come out to help and show support. There’s a line down the street with people from the neighborhood showing their support for the cafe, which has been open for less than a year, she said, expressing her gratitude.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Ira L. Savetsky and husband of former “Real Housewives of New York” star Lizzy Savetsky, announced the incident on Instagram and encouraged his nearly 50,000 followers to start supporting the cafe he calls his “favorite.”

“Almost all the employees of my favorite cafe, @caffearonne, near my office, resigned today because the owner is a proud Jew and a supporter of Israel,” he wrote.

“Please all go support them by visiting them at 71st and Lexington, purchasing gift cards, donating to their ambucycle for @magen_david_adom, and leaving a positive review on Google!”

On October 12, Cafe Aronne posted a statement expressing support for Magen David Adom in Israel, with the goal of raising $36,000.

“We have all recently seen the terrorism and barbarism unleashed on Israeli citizens and with all our help we are looking for a hybrid motorcycle-ambulance,” it said.

This comes as gangs of pro-Palestinian thugs smashing windows at Starbucks and releasing mice into McDonald’s are being hammered by an anti-Israel boycott movement spreading through social media.

The BDS movement – ​​which stands for boycotts, divestments and sanctions – has urged supporters to put “pressure” on companies seen as supporting Israel.

There has been intense criticism for the use of inflammatory terms such as “apartheid”, “genocide” and “settler colonialist” to describe Israel, while groups and individuals associated with the movement have been accused of anti-Semitic rhetoric.

An Instagram post last week named McDonald’s as one of the chains it targeted, along with a host of other household names.

A McDonald’s in Keighley, West Yorkshire, was last night hit by youths draped in Palestinian flags who forced their way inside before releasing stick insects. A video of the apparent aftermath appears to indicate that the windows were also smashed.

Meanwhile, protesters have released mice into three McDonald’s branches in Birmingham, with some filming calls for a ‘boycott’ of the chain. It appears it was targeted after an Israeli franchisee offered discounts to soldiers and security forces.

BDS was founded in 2005 by Palestinian activist Ramy Shaath and Omar Barghouti, a graduate of Columbia University in the US, and controversially claims to model itself on the South African resistance movement against Apartheid.

It is an umbrella organization linked to dozens of affiliated groups around the world, each drawing up its own list of brands to boycott.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s Corporation said it was “stunned” by the attacks on its stores.

It told MailOnline: ‘We are dismayed by the disinformation and inaccurate reports about our position in response to the conflict in the Middle East.

“McDonald’s Corporation does not fund or support any government involved in this conflict, and any actions by our local business partners with a development license were undertaken independently without McDonald’s consent or approval.
