Victoria Monet and John Gaines' relationship timeline
Singer Victoria Monet and her friend, John Gaineshave something special.
After keeping a low profile early on in their romance, the duo announced in December 2020 that they were expecting their first baby. They welcomed daughter Hazel in February 2021.
Although the couple is yet to tie the knot, Monét shared during a September 2021 interview with Essence that marrying Gaines is “definitely the plan.”
The Grammy nominee continued: “We are completely in love and enjoying our new chapter… [Hazel has] I really have him wrapped around her finger, and I've seen him change in ways I know he didn't expect. She makes us grow up.”

Gaines starred in the music video for Monét's song “Moment.” While it's unclear if the pair were already romantically involved at the time, they shared some very steamy kisses in the video.

Gaines shared his partner's pregnancy news via Instagram.
“I have been blessed with many great things, but this is by far the best. Baby Gaines coming in 2021!!!” wrote the fitness trainer. “@Victoriamonet words cannot express how proud I am to be on this journey with you. Since day one, you've handled this with such poise and grace. You are a strong, beautiful, loving and caring woman. We are both blessed to have you and I can't wait to make memories with our family.”

The couple announced that they had welcomed daughter Hazel.

Gaines wished the musician a Happy Mother's Day via Instagram.
“I couldn't ask for a better example of a woman for @itshazelmonet to follow. You're killing this mother thing, my love. I'm proud of you and I love you,” he wrote.
Monét expressed her gratitude for Gaines in the comments section, writing, “I love you and I wouldn't be half the mom I am without you and all the ways you support me!🤎.”

While discussing her bisexuality during a performance at Baltimore's Radio OneMonét explained why her sexual orientation does not make her more susceptible to infidelity.
“Whether I was dating a man or a woman, I think it's more about the bond you have with each other and the trust you have. Because even if I went on a girls' trip and I don't like any of my friends, and I was doing something shady, there's still a guy who has to check us into the hotel,” she explained. “There are so many opportunities [for cheating]. It might not be one of my friends. It could be anyone I walk past.”

Monét then spoke with the confidence she and Gaines share.
