A Volvo sleeper bus caught fire on the Delhi-Gurugram highway on Wednesday evening, killing two passengers and seriously injuring two others.
Gurugram: At least two people were charred to death while a dozen others suffered severe burns after a moving sleeper bus caught fire on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway on Wednesday evening. Police said the passenger bus, a Volvo sleeper, was completely destroyed by the fire, but the cause of the fire was not immediately known and is under investigation.
A senior police official said two people died in the fire, while 12 others suffered serious burns.
Five of the injured have been admitted to Medanta Hospital and seven to Civil Hospital, the official said.
Footage of the incident doing the rounds on social media platforms showed the bus engulfed by a massive fire.

Deputy Director of Fire Services Gulshan Kalra said the incident took place around 8.30 pm near the Jharsa flyover on the main carriageway from Delhi to Jaipur.
“Three fire engines rushed to the scene after we received information that a sleeper bus with license plate AR 01 K 7707 had caught fire on the roadway,” Kalra said.
By the time the fire was under control, two passengers were charred. Some other passengers suffered burns, he said.
Dr. Civil Hospital’s Manav confirmed that seven injured persons are being treated at the facility.
“All the injured suffered 30 to 50 percent burns but are stable,” he said.
After receiving information about the incident, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav and Gurugram Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora also reached the spot.
