Himachal Pradesh fire: A woman died while as many as 31 people suffered burns in a massive fire that broke out at a cosmetics factory in Baddi industrial area of ​​Himachal Pradesh's Solan district on Friday afternoon. The official said a woman, who suffered critical burns, was brought dead to PGIMER in Shimla today evening.

In an official statement, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) provided an update on the inferno victims admitted to the facility's Trauma Center.

“In the evening hours of February 2, five patients reported to the Advanced Trauma Centre, PGIMER. These patients are said to have fallen victim to the Baddi factory fire incident. Of the five patients, one victim was reported dead.”

“The four, namely Charan Singh (22), Prem Kumari (27), Aarti (25) and Geeta (25), all residents of Baddi in Solan district, suffered back and head injuries along with minor burns. All these patients are stable and necessary treatment is being provided,” said Medical Superintendent and official spokesperson of PGIMER, Vipin Koushal, according to the statement.

Earlier in the day, a major fire broke out at a cosmetics factory in Solan district. More than 50 people were in the factory when the fire broke out, Solan Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma told reporters.

Images shared on social media sites show towering plumes of thick black smoke billowing from the multi-storey building.

The senior official said the fire caused panic among workers at the factory who jumped from the burning building in an attempt to save their lives, resulting in injuries.

“People jumped from the first and second floors of the building to save their lives and suffered multiple injuries on hands, legs and even the spine,” Sharma told reporters on the spot, adding that the reason behind the fire is yet to be revealed established. a forensic team is at work.

“Some have fled to their homes and their names are being verified, while several others are still missing and efforts are on to trace them,” Sharma said.

Thick smoke seeping from the cosmetic material hampered firefighting operations and workers climbed onto the building for safety, witnesses said.

Firefighters, who battled the blaze for hours, had difficulty extinguishing the flames as flammable substances used for the manufacture of perfumes and other cosmetics also caught fire.

The devastating fire broke out at NR Aroma on Friday around 2:45 p.m.
