A young woman has been kicked out of a shopping center for 'breaking the law' by showing her midriff.

Madison Green, 20, was shopping for her grandmother at Dalby Shoppingworld in the Western Downs region of southeast Queensland when she was confronted by a female security guard who ordered her to leave.

Footage of the confrontation showed the security guard telling Ms Green she could see her stomach because of the black crop top she was wearing.

'What is your problem?' you hear a confused Mrs. Green ask.

“I can see your stomach,” the guard shoots back.

Mrs. Green demanded answers.

“How come there is a store here that sells this kind of clothing, but I can't wear it here?” she pointed out

The guard responded by telling her to wear clothes that covered her midriff.

“Any clothes that cover your entire stomach,” she said.

When asked by a man who can be heard off camera why that was the case, the security guard said: “Because that is the law.”

Ms Green pointed out another woman in the clip who walked by in a sports top and who also showed off her torso.

“She's not wearing a top,” Mrs. Green exclaimed.

The security guard claimed she saw Ms. Green first.

“You're a smart bastard and now you can leave,” she said.

The security guard was then seen following Ms Green into a Woolworths supermarket.

Ms Green claims the security guard also threatened to call the police and deny her access to the mall.

The 'intimidating' ordeal left Ms Green 'annoyed' and shocked and she has since complained about the incident to store management.

“I'm sure I can wear these things, it's 2024, I don't see any problem with it,” she told Nine News.

A spokesperson for Dalby Shoppingworld confirmed that Ms Green had not broken any dress code rules.

“The center's management has apologized to the patron and has been in discussions with the contracted security company and has asked them to review their procedures to ensure their staff have received appropriate training,” the spokesperson said.

“This particular security officer will not be assigned to Dalby Shoppingworld in the future.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Dalby Shoppingworld for further comment.
