A festive favourite, Christmas berry mince pies, has been recalled by Woolworths amid fears the popular pies could contain metal bits.

The supermarket giant issued a recall on Friday, warning consumers that its six-pack of summer berry shortcrust pastry tarts may contain metal fragments.

“Consumers should not eat this product,” Woolworths said in its recall notice.

Woolworths has also warned: ‘Food products containing metal may cause illness/injury if consumed.’

The affected products are only sold in Woolies stores in New South Wales and have a shelf life until June 13, 2024.

Consumers are advised to return the product for a full refund.

Woolies said the regular variety of Fruit Mince Pies is unaffected by the recall and is safe to eat.

“Woolworths takes product safety seriously and apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this recall,” the company said.

Anyone concerned about his or her health should seek medical advice.

Customers have been told to contact Woolworths on 1800 103 515.
