The most hospitable regions in the world for 2024 have been named – and Perthshire in Scotland comes in at number 1
The 20 most hospitable places in the world have been named – with Perthshire in Scotland being the number 1 region and the Brazilian town of Arraial d'Ajuda, famous for its azure beaches, being the top destination.
The list is compiled by Booking.com, with entries identified by the number of Traveler Review Awards they have received.
The top five of the region rankings are completed by Penghu, Taiwan (second); Boyacá, Colombia (third); Trentino – Alto Adige, Italy (fourth); and Los Lagos, Chile (fifth).
Follow Arraial d'Ajuda in the destination list are Ermoupoli, Greece (second); Viana do Castelo, Portugal (third); Daylesford, Australia (fourth); and Grindelwald, Switzerland (fifth).
The highest ranked US location is Moab, Utah. The town – known for its cinematic, rocky natural beauty – ranks sixth on the destination list.

Speaking about Perthshire's crown as the most hospitable region, Grant Laing, Leader of Perth and Kinross Council, said: 'To be recognized as one of the most hospitable destinations in the world in 2024 is a huge accolade and shows that hospitality in Perth and Kinross is second to none.
'We live in an area of outstanding natural beauty and welcome visitors from all over the world every year and have successfully hosted world-famous events such as the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup and last year welcomed thousands of competitors to the Gran Fondo, part of the UCI World Championships.
'The Perth Museum will open its doors to the public for the first time in March. The new home of the Stone of Destiny will attract thousands more visitors to the area and I am sure they will all discover many wonderful things about Perth and Kinross when they arrive here.”
Trentino – Alto Adige, Italy, is ranked as the fourth most hospitable region in the world
Moab, Utah, is the sixth most hospitable destination in the world
Booking.com explained that it based its prices on more than 309 million verified customer reviews, which rate the hospitality, service and standards of travel accommodations, activities and transportation providers.
Only customers who have stayed in accommodation, rented a car or been in a taxi can leave a review of their experience on Booking.com.
