New Delhi: Just a few days before the start of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024, Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered major blows as they lost uncapped Kashvee Gautam and Indian all-rounder Kanika Ahuja due to injuries. The WPL 2024 starts on February 23 with Delhi Capitals taking on Mumbai Indians, the previous season's finalists.

Gujarat Giants, who finished at the bottom of the five-team league last year, brought in Sayali Sathgare as Gautam's replacement. Gautam had notably become the most expensive (at Rs 2 crore) uncapped Indian player in WPL history. The extent of the injury is not yet known. Sathgare joins Gujarat Giants for a minimum price of Rs 10 lakhs.

At the other end, Maharashtra's left-arm fast bowler Shraddha Pokarkar came in as a replacement for Ahuja. She has been signed for a minimum price of Rs 10 lakhs.
