Koppal, Karnataka: A 90-year-old woman got the shock of her life when she received an electricity bill of a staggering Rs one lakh for her shanty, which has only two LED lights. Girijamma, who lives here with her son in the small hut in Bhagyanagar, usually gets a monthly bill of around Rs 70 or Rs 80 per month.
She was in for a rude shock after being presented with a bill worth Rs 1,03,315 for the month of May.

Shortly after the news spread, officials from the electricity department rushed to her house and discovered that there had been a fault in the meter and that the person collecting the meter readings had also made a mistake.
Later, the officials asked her not to pay the bill and assured that it would be reviewed.
