- CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 has been shown on the Nintendo Switch 2
- Comparisons between and other consoles such as the steam deck and PS5 are made
- DLSS seems to be at the forefront of the performance and visual possibilities of the handheld
The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 Is almost here, and it comes with a handful of titles that are ready for gamers to dive into from the first day. Fortunately we now have an early look in particular, from Game Developer CD Projekt Red.
In one YouTube Video by Nintendo LifeCD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is exempted on the Nintendo Switch 2, with visual quality that other PC handhelds such as the Steam deck. This is due to the adapted T239 chip of Nvidia, so that the new handheld can benefit from DLSS-Opcharing, for better than native performance while scaling up from a lower internal resolution.
Given earlier expectations based on the hardware rumors (which turned out to be legitimate), Cyberpunk 2077 is impressed by many gamers with its lighting and environmental details. However, it is worth noting NvidiaThe rumors of the DLSS -Upcaling is used quite aggressively, which can be seen clearly in some of the blurry sequences in the gameplay showcase.
This is to be expected, because the Switch 2 is already pushing its weight above its weight when performing a game like Cyberpunk 2077. But there are still very clear performance tips, especially during vehicle connections, which emphasizes the potential issue – if DLSS is indeed used aggressively and performance is unable to see dips in what looks like the top of 20 fps, isn’t it really impressive?
It is worth noting that it is not exactly clear which segments of the gameplay below are moored or hand (it is likely that the first account will take the 4k Video quality), and there will be a choice between quality and performance modes.
This is also still a work in progress and will probably differ drastically from the launch version, but it will be interesting to see how this is against the MSI Claw 8 AI+ – that delivers great images and performance. Cyberpunk 2077 – together with other upcoming handhelds such as the Recently announced MSI Claw A8 with the help of AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme.
Analysis: It is better than I expected, but does not justify the costs of Switch 2
Now, before you say I have a Nintendo Switch 2 agenda, I think games like Cyberpunk 2077 Can further exceed their performance and visual expectations on the device. Nevertheless, the handheld is $ 449.99 / £ 395.99 / AU $ 699.95 Price did I ask a basic question – wouldn’t it be better to buy a PS5, Xbox series X for about the same price, for a better experience?
I could comment on the portable PC comparisons and the processing power of the claw 8 AI+, but I would not like to sound like a broken plate. Spoiler alert; It is claimed to be the better and more powerful device.
The simple fact here is that the Switch 2s Cyberpunk 2077 is not visual in the same ballpark and in terms of performance as one of both Sonyor Microsoft‘S consoles. In that sense, the value of the Switch 2 is lost as a rival of a gaming console if it costs almost the same and yet offers a worse experience.
Before you point out that the MSI Claw 8 AI+ costs more than the PS5 and Xbox series X, it is not in the GameConsole category (it is also not supplied with a dock for extra performance), and the price compared to the Switch 2 is still justified, given the power that is packed on such a compact device. If the price of the Switch 2 was much lower, I would be much more impressed by Cyberpunk 2077The performance, but rates or not, that is not the case.
DLSS seems to be the only factor that will do the heavy work with the Switch 2, and I would claim that this is the only reason why the version of Cyberpunk 2077 can be compared with other handhelds with the help of Xess or FSR (which are neither at the level of Nvidia’s DLSS). Even then, without tools such as frame generation, it still doesn’t let me be impressed by the Switch 2, but I would like to eat my words if I am proven that I am wrong with its possibilities.
Maybe you like it too …
