A singer who avoided cameras because her weight had caused her confidence to fall, has revealed that she is a new woman after repelling the 3rd thanks to Mounjaro.
Emma Hughes, 57, from GoSport, Hampshire, once called himself ‘Fat Emma’ after reaching the 13th 9 pounds, a weight that made her unrecognizable against her former 9th ‘Slim’ herself.
The mother, who works full -time as a program trading manager, tried countless diets, but only became miserable, self -conscious and looked at the scale as she stacked on the kilos.
The weight gain seriously influenced her self -confidence, whereby Emma admitted that she could hardly look at photos of herself that performed on stage.
“It was difficult because I had spent a lot of my youth slim, but it was at the point that I really didn’t like myself, hated what I saw and it made me miserable,” she told Femail.
Decide enough was enough, Emma, the singer of her cover band Spike & the Pieman, started using Mounjaro (a Jab with weight loss) The NHS-supported health program, second nature, seven months ago.
As a result, she has dropped the 3rd or a stunning 19 kilos and decorated from size 16 to size 12.
Emma decided to start her journey for weight loss after he felt ‘miserable’ when seeing photos of himself on stage at performances.

‘I am in a local covers band and a lot of people take photos when I am on stage and post them on social media. The only thing I could see was “Fat Emma”, “she admitted.
‘I did everything I could do to fall off. One diet that I helped with me during the lockdown helped me to lose 7 pounds – but then I got that back, plus another 5 pounds. I just had the feeling that I didn’t have off -switch when it came to food.
‘My weight was slowly instructed, and then I thought I really didn’t like myself. I looked in the mirror and it was really pretty unpleasant.
‘Now I am more confidence than ever and I never want to go back to what I was. I should not be ashamed of my journey on Mounjaro, but it comes with a lot of judgment.
“I did this because of my own hard work and I think it can help many other people who struggle.”
Growing up, Emma had always been slim and weighed around nine stone. She had her first child when she was 24 and her second out of 32.
It was after this time that Emma saw that her clothes be started to be tighter. She tried various diet programs, including one that lasted four years from 2020 to 2024 – but ended up winning five pounds.
Although she had to regard what many would consider a ‘normal diet’, Emma struggled with portion control.

Breakfast with high-fat nuts, carbohydrate-heavy buttery sandwiches for lunch and calorie finishes were her standard-like-like weekly roast dinners, office croissants and 3 p.m. chocolate bars.
It was only after undergoing a knee replacement operation in 2022 for arthritis and did not want to suffer from further health problems related to surplus weight such as type 2 diabetes and heart, Emma decided to take action.
She said: ‘I did the companies for weight loss where you are going, and I even tried one of them for about four years, but it just didn’t work for me. Initially I did well, but I slid out slowly. I got heavier than when I started. It was a bit of a vicious circle. I hated my body, so I ate and got bigger!
‘It made me realize that my problem was not with what I eat, because these weight loss companies promote very healthy food, but the number of food I was eating. I am a huge connoisseur and if I had a large plate, I would always finish it. ‘
In September 2024 a friend told Emma about second nature, a weight loss program that uses behavioral science to re -decorate eating habits.
Intrigged, Emma did her research and took the leap, registering for the Mounjaro injections of the plan.
From the end of September 2024, Emma was initially prescribed 2.5 mg of Mounjaro and lost about 2 pounds a week before the dosage was increased to 5 mg.
Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) is originally an injectable medicine for type 2 diabetes but now used for weight loss. It works by suppressing the appetite and regulating blood sugar levels.

“I couldn’t believe how much my friend had lost. Because I was honest, I had already lost confidence in my ability to follow diets on this point, but I thought, maybe this is something that could finally work, “she remembered.
‘I have had problems with my knees since I was a child. Before the knee replacement I had a hard time. I couldn’t even come up well, so I knew I had to do something to lower my weight.
“In my first month about the medicine I suffer from indigestion – which is a common side effect of too much food while I was on Mounjaro – but I soon adapted thanks to the support of the health coaches on the program.”

In the evening she puts in something healthy like a homemade chicken curry with ‘three tablespoons of rice, instead of a whole package! ‘
“I still eat everything I want,” she said. ‘On a Friday evening, if we don’t play a performance, my husband and I will sit and watch a movie, and I always got a whole bag of Maltesers and a bag of chocolate nodes, and we would share them between us. Now I get two ramekin dishes, I put a few in it, then I put them away.
“I don’t deny anything. I just have it in moderation, and that psychologically helped me.
“I still like food and I still have what I want, but having it in sensible portions, has enabled me to lose weight and still have what I want.”

‘If I go out and perform now, I wear applied T-shirt-type dresses and actually I like myself, and I feel good to stand above it. I am not shrinking when people take more videos and photos of me.
‘I feel like me again! I am finally happy in my own skin. I spent a lot of money, but I did it for my own reasons, for my own mental health and for my own physical health.
‘There are real mixed media about drugs for weight loss, which is sad because I am so proud of what I have done. It is not a panacea, because the work has still come from me. It is just a tool that I needed and I never thought I would like myself again and I do it!
“I am a size 12 and I made it up – I will like to stay that way for the rest of my life.”
