Apple’s TVOS 26 announcement is light on content – Here is a position that I am really enthusiastic about

Apple just announced a handful of new functions for the Apple TV 4K bee WWDC 2025. These will appear in the upcoming TVOS 26 update, which will be available later this year for viewers after they were first released for the developer community.
I have looked at the live WWDC presentation both in my professional capacity, but also as a Apple TV 4K owner, and a big reason I had agreed, was to see what changes would come to Apple’s Box, which recommends TechRadar as the Best streaming device For most people.
At the end of Apple’s presentation, however, I was usually impressed. The new visual improvements of liquid glass are cool, and they will make the Apple TV box, which sometimes seems to be a stepchild in the Apple -product portfolio, more like a core member of the family.
However, the other changes usually seem small updates. That is, unless you are a great user of the Sing function on the Apple TV 4kThe Apple Music App, with which you can use it for Karaoke, now complete with an iPhone microphone.
The only new function that attracted my attention during the presentation was Display Profiles. This function is already available on the Apple TV 4K, and with this you can switch between custom Apple Music and Apple TV libraries for different users in the same household.
Display -Profiles: what’s new
What is new for display profiles in TVOS 26 is an option to display all viewer profiles when the Apple TV box wakes up from sleep. Instead of the last logged in profile, you will see a list of profiles in which you can switch. This shows the viewer a custom library and a list of content recommendations when using the Apple TV, Apple Music and other Apple-Centric apps.
Although the announcement of Apple was light on details, a screen handle (see the image at the top of this article) from the presentation reveals a custom ‘content cloud’ for a specific Apple TV user. This screen is not only visually pleasant, but the layout indicates that it can be used to easily jump back in shows, films, games and apps, with the relative size of the icon that may indicate how recently you were working on that content.
These announced improvements for display profiles are not exactly groundbreaking, but they show that Apple is making an attempt to keep track of an important competitor: Smart TVs.
Who needs a streaming box?
The smart platforms on TVs from brands such as LG And Samsung Have taken important steps in recent years. As soon as a visually messy, advertising-woestenij, they use AI and other technologies to adjust not only the interface, but also for specific viewers in households in multiple viewer in households.
A good example of this was LG’s Webos 25 Smart TV platform found in the LG G5 And LG C5 OLED TVs. This can be set to automatically change the viewer profiles using speech recognition – it is not necessary to wade through menus to make that adjustment. And once your profile has been activated, you will see a custom home screen with your favorite selection of apps, together with content recommendations that are specially made for you based on your viewing history.
Having a refined, AI-reinforced Smart TV platform is a tactic LG and Samsung to stay ahead of TCL And Hisses Competition, both of which depend on the relatively generic Google TV platform in the US. By making the Smart TV interface and functions really useful, they add considerable value to their TVs, which are usually priced a little higher, while in some cases they usually offer similar performance.
Where does the Apple TV 4K fit all this? I still have an Apple TV 4K, and as an iPhone user I appreciate the sleek function -integration between the two devices when it comes to content and control. But with Smart TV interfaces that improve steadily, I notice that I use my apple streaming box less and less over time.
Apple looks on the road, has to do much more than copy the smart functions that on the Best TVs To keep his streaming box relevant. But the coming improvements to display profiles look like a step in the right direction, and it is also the type of function that Apple, with its extensive software sources, could easily push to make the Apple TV 4K stand out of the crowd.
