Norwich City Winger Borja Sainz could go to Porto.
The champion club has rejected bids from both the Portuguese club and Napoli, but holds out a deal of around £ 17 million.
Porto is in the World Cup Club and they had hoped to close a deal for today’s Transfer Deadline, so that Sainz could play in the United States, but that transfer now looks unlikely.
Yet, despite Napoli’s range, Porto are still favorites to sign a player who scored 19 goals for Norwich last season, although 16 came in the first half of the season.
Bilbao is also interested in Sainz, 24, because he comes from the Basque region, so is eligible under their strict rules of suitability.
Sainz arrived from the Turkish club Giresunspor on a free transfer in 2023 and has only a year left to his contract, so he will certainly leave Carrow Road.
In January Sainz was suspended for six games after he admitted that he was spit in Chris Mepham van Sunderland.
At the time, he was the most important scorer of the championship and he was also fined £ 12,000 by the football club for the incident that took place in the 2-1 defeat of Norwich in the Stadium of Licht in December.
Norwich striker Josh Sargent also seems to be leaving, although the club has not had any bids. Leeds is interested in manager Daniel Farke who managed Sargent when he was Canaries’s manager.
