Following the double friend Katie Boulter’s rain interruptions 2-6 6-3 6-2 defeat against Bandana-bearing Russian Diana Shnaider, the former US Open Champion is the top player of Great Britain for the first time since 11 June 2023.

Raducanu, 22, said: ‘I am really happy that I will get through it.

“I don’t think it was my most beautiful version, but I am really happy to penetrate into the tight moments.

“I like to play with large crowds at these moments. They all support me, which is fun.

“Because I had Katie in the front, it was nice for me to chase something. Now I know for sure that she will enjoy it with me.

“The grass season is still young, just like the rest of the season.

“We have a healthy competition between the two of us. I want to see her do well. She wants to see me doing it well. It was fun to play with her double this week.”

Prior to the 2025 championships, Wimbledon will strengthen security to protect female stars after Raducanus “really worry” stalker saga, saying: it is our top priority.

Raducanu was stalked by a man in several countries earlier this year and burst into tears when she saw the individual in the stands for her competition in Dubai.

“The recent incidents that come to light certainly recognize the concern that has been generated with it.

“But we have – and for many years – processes to guarantee the safety of our players.

“That is in contact with law enforcement agencies, specialist security teams and we maintain contact with both tours.

“And that is all year round, not just in preparation for the championships.”

Raducanu welcomed the news and said: “I think I feel safe, feeling safe is extremely important. You know, playing at home, there is an elevated tension.

“But for me, when I played on Wimbledon, I felt very well protected, very safe.

“I look forward to going there, and I don’t think I will feel a lot of difference.”

Qualification Heather Watson rode on a lime electric bicycle to Queen’s, but was soon on her bike from the tournament and lost 6-4 6-2 to former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
