Axed ABC star accuses Israel of ‘genocide in the making’ and ‘slaughter of women and children’

Axed ABC presenter Antoinette Lattouf has taken to social media to accuse Israel of “genocide” and “the slaughter of women and children”, just a week after she was fired by the national broadcaster.

The author and journalist took to to take a closer look and call for a ceasefire. .

The post referred to the conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas after the terrorist group launched a devastating attack on October 7 that killed around 1,200 Israelis.

In her post titled “Thinking about 2023,” Ms. Lattouf accused Israel of “disproportionately” killing women and children.

The broadcaster then claimed to its nearly 21,000 followers that it was considered less offensive not to call out Israel for justifying a “genocide in the making” by using “propaganda, disinformation and disinformation.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Ms Lattouf for comment.

The post, which has been viewed thousands of times, comes after Ms Lattouf was banned from presenting ABC Sydney’s Mornings programme.

She filled in for regular host Sarah Macdonald on the show before being fired following a series of social media posts about the ongoing conflict.

Her posts on various online platforms are believed to be in breach of the ABC’s social media policy.

Ms. Lattouf did not return to present her scheduled services for the morning program.

An ABC spokesperson confirmed to Daily Mail Australia at the time that she would not return.

“ABC Sydney casual presenter Antoinette Lattouf will be off-air for her remaining two shifts this week,” the spokesperson said.

The ABC has a strict editorial policy and requires staff to be impartial in their reporting.

She was fired from her role as presenter of the ABC Sydney Mornings radio program after a series of social media posts about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

“An ill-considered post or tweet could immediately jeopardize this perception of impartiality,” the ABC rules say.

Ms Lattouf later hit back, saying she was “considering her legal options”.

“I am very disappointed by the ABC’s decision today,” she said.

‘I think I was unfairly dismissed. This is not a victory for journalism or for honest, critical thinking.”

Ms. Latouf attempted to analyze the conflict between Israel and Palestine in an Instagram video posted in October that called both Hamas and the Israeli government “extremists.”

While condemning the anti-Arab and anti-Semitic rhetoric, she added in the video that “you can and must condemn the illegal military occupation of Palestine that has been going on for 75 years.”

Dr. Dvir Abramovich, chairman of the Commission against Defamation, told the Daily Mail that Ms Lattouf’s Twitter message described Hamas’s “atrocities” and reflected anti-Israel sentiments.

“If her intention is to condemn the depravity of October 7 and deplore the guerrilla war waged by pro-Hamas activists, then I commend her,” Dr. Abramovich said.

“However, if her tweet takes aim at Israel’s defense of its citizens in its attempt to liberate Gaza from Hamas’s satanic tactics, then I would urge her to check the facts.”

Since the October 7 attacks, Israel has attacked the Gaza Strip with a series of brutal aerial bombardments, killing more than 20,000 people, including nearly 9,000 children.

Ms Lattouf has since filed an application with the Fair Work Commission, claiming she was ‘unlawfully dismissed’ by the ABC.

She also announced that she will now focus on her newest career: a new podcast titled “The Antoinettes.”
