“Barbenheimer” and Killers of the Flower Moon dominated the 96th Academy Awards nominations, announced Tuesday morning from the academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California.
Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer came away with a leading 13 Oscar nominations and received a nod for best picture; Nolan's direction; acting nominations for Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt; and several awards for the craftsmanship of the drama.
Barbie received eight nominations, including a nod for best picture; Ryan Gosling for Best Supporting Actor; and two candidates for the best song. However, Gerwig fell outside the best director category.
Bradley Cooper and Cillian Murphy will compete for the prize for best actor in the leading role. Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti and Jeffrey Wright also received nominations.
Leonardo DiCaprio was not recognized for his acting in Killers Of The Flower Moon.
