Mumbai: Amidst the backlash for his film Adipurushdirector Om Ruth says more films should be made about the Hindu epic Ramayana. The director spoke in an interview when he talked about the other Ramayan based films being made by different people in the industry. He called director Nitesh Tiwari who is believed to have cast Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in his three part Ramayan.

Om, whose latest film failed to impress a segment of the audience due to factual errors and dialogue, says he respects Nitesh Tiwari and his way of filming. In an interview with India Today, the Adipurush director said he has heard about Tiwari’s Ramayan and can’t wait to watch it. He said, “Nitesh is a great director and a good friend of mine. I’ve seen his work. I’ve seen dangal. It is one of the best films our country has made. Everything about the film – Mr. Aamir (Khan), the actors, Mr. Nitesh’s writing and his direction – I think that’s phenomenal. Looking forward to the movie like any Aries bhakt.”

Raut added that Ramayan is a proud part of our history and the industry should fully embrace it by making as many films as possible. The director said that he would always support those who try to make Ramayan possible in any form. “Like many films we make about Ramayana, Prabhu Shri Ram and everything about Rama, I think we will all support that film or any other film that someone makes. It is very important to us, it is the greatest history of our country, it is very important. We should tell it as often as we can, and as many people as possible should see the film,” he said.

In the meantime, Adipurush, starring Prabhas as Lord Ram and Kriti Sanon as Sita, hit around Rs 40 crore nett from the Hindi version on Sunday, bringing the three-day total to around Rs 115 crore nett in Hindi.
