Customer spots ‘world’s best chocolate’ at Aldi Australia for $5: ‘Best find of the year’

Australian foodies are going crazy after seeing ‘the world’s best chocolate’ on offer at Aldi.

Gemma, from Geelong, spotted bars of Tony’s Chocolonely in the ‘Special Buys’ section and was shocked by the $4.99 price tag.

The cult favorite chocolate, which hails from the Netherlands, drove customers wild last year after launching in Coles and Woolworths for $8 each.

Now fans are rushing to Aldi to get their hands on the popular purchase at a discounted price.

“$4.99, seriously? They have strawberry cheesecake with white chocolate and a brownie with dark milk chocolate,” Gemma said in a TikTok video.

Gemma has picked up two popular flavours: White Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake and Dark Milk Chocolate with Brownie.

After just 24 hours, her video was viewed more than 24,000 times and one foodie urged Gemma to ‘stock up’.

‘Almost half the price of the big stores, wow! I’m definitely going to get one,” one person commented.

“The dark milk chocolate brownies are next level,” said another.

Following its launch Down Under last year, Aussie fans have taken to social media to call it the ‘tastiest chocolate ever’ and ’10 times better than Cadbury’.

“One of the best chocolates around,” one person wrote.

“So much better than any Australian chocolate,” another commented.

‘I love this chocolate. Every time I’ve been to Europe in the last few years I’ve taken a few bars with me,” said a third.

However, others were concerned about the $8 price tag.

“I enjoyed this chocolate but I will buy it when it’s on sale,” said one.

“It’s really good but not worth the price,” another added.

“I spend $8 and it’s not the best chocolate I’ve ever tried,” a third commented.

The chocolate has a higher price thanks to the maintenance of a slave-free chocolate chain.
