The Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex may not have always agreed, but they clearly share a similar sense of style and have chosen a number of outfits to match over the years.

And they struck again on Saturday, when Kate opened the Eurovision Song Contest in a one-shoulder dress in shades of blue that is strikingly reminiscent of one Meghan wore last year.

In January, two days after Harry’s book Spare came out, Kate was spotted wearing a Holland Cooper forest green and navy tartan coat that was almost identical to the Burberry coat Meghan Markle wore on her 2018 trip to Scotland with Harry.

The pair even wore similar handbags in the same pine green color: Meghan’s Strathberry bag with silver details and Kate’s Mulberry bag with gold details.

Here, MailOnline takes a look at the times when Meghan and Kate looked to each other for inspiration…

In January, two days after the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, the Princess of Wales visited Liverpool sporting a look very similar to Meghan’s in 2018. Both women are pictured in navy and green tartan longline coats, heels and fir green Bags

Meghan seemed to take inspiration from the Princess of Wales' look when she wore a similar jumpsuit in July of that same year

Magic in black and white: Meghan Markle looked to Kate Middleton for inspiration, as she donned a £4,000 monochromatic jumpsuit – which was almost identical to a dress her sister-in-law wore two months earlier

At a dinner party with the Duke of Sussex in New York, Meghan wore a bold black and white Gabriela Hearst fitted strapless jumpsuit, which she paired with black stilettos and a plum handbag.

This is strikingly similar to the look Kate wore two months earlier, in May 2022, when she stepped out in a £2,700 black Roland Mouret dress with an identical white band detail at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere.

The pair have been seen close up many times over the years, including when they wore a similar tan coat (a staple in many women’s wardrobes).

Pre-pandemic in January 2020, the Duchess of Sussex wore her beige coat on a trip to Canada House in London.

Kate then opted for a tan long coat when she visited the Ukrainian Community Center in Reading last November.

For last year’s Invictus Games in The Hague, the Duchess of Sussex wore a crisp white £3,200 Valentino suit, paired with her Aquazzura wedding shoes.

Meghan opted for a double-breasted wool blazer costing £2,100, which she paired with high-waisted trousers costing £1,100 for the occasion.

However, Meghan may have taken inspiration from Kate, who first wore her £1,945 white Alexander McQueen suit on her royal Caribbean tour, which she also paired with white stilettos.

She also wore the suit again at the Commonwealth Games in August last year, pairing it with a white top and belt.

The jewelery is also strikingly similar: The Duchess of Sussex wears a necklace created by designer Sophie Lis, engraved ‘Qu’hier’ after a diamond-encrusted plus sign, and ‘Que Demain’ followed by a ruby minus sign.

(Translated, it refers to a French nickname that says, “I love you more than yesterday, but less than tomorrow.)

Kate wears a similar necklace with a round pendant and a pair of matching earrings.

The Duchess of Sussex almost wore a burgundy dress with white polka dots like Kate’s in October 2018.

The pair almost wore matching dresses in 2018, just days apart, and Kate smiled as she wore her burgundy white long-sleeved Whistles dress to a meeting at Kensington Palace.

A few days later, the former actress was spotted wearing a very similar burgundy dress from & Other Stories when she visited Fraser Island in Australia.

Meghan and Kate were also twins when they wore a similar outfit two years apart.

The Duchess of Sussex wore a bouclé jacket with frayed details, patch pockets and a collarless neckline by ME+EM and black trousers paired with brown and beige heels.

She wore this look when she visited a school in East London to talk about International Women’s Day in 2020.

The Princess of Wales wore a similar ensemble during her trip to a baby bank in June last year.

Kate’s was significantly cheaper as she wore a £50 cream Zara blazer, black trousers and heels and £550 Kiki Classic Citrine Drop earrings by Kiki McDonough.

They matched again in 2016 when Kate attended a reception at Government House in September 2016 in a red dress, which closely resembled one Meghan had worn to the Today show in July of the same year.

Meghan nodded to Kate’s style during the photo shoot of her engagement to Harry at the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace in November 2017. She wore a white coat with a tied belt as she flashed a smile while holding the hand of the Duke of Sussex.

While Kate wore her cream coat dress years before, on a visit to Portsmouth, England, in February 2015.
