Start the fire again

Try restarting your Fire Stick first.

Sometimes a gadget just needs a manual restart.

Next, make sure your Fire Stick has the latest firmware downloaded and is not running an outdated operating system.

Improve WiFi

Then do what you can to improve your Wi-Fi connection.

You can do this by making sure your router is away from certain objects and contacting your Internet service provider.

If your Fire Stick is too far from your Wi-Fi router, your signal strength will be weak and cause buffering issues.

Try moving the router closer to the Fire Stick, but don’t place it directly behind the TV.

Alternatively, you can use an Ethernet cable for a secure internet connection.

Free up space

Then check your storage space in the settings.

Fire Stick’s have 8GB of storage, but only about 5.5GB that can actually be used, which can quickly be eaten up by apps.

But you can also use an old USB stick that you have stashed away at home as an external storage drive. That’s how you do that.

Placement is crucial

The placement of your Fire Stick is also important.

If your TV is in an unventilated place, your Fire Stick may overheat.

Make sure the Fire Stick and your television have good airflow around them.

Last resort

If you’re still left with a buffering Fire Stick after all that, try downloading a VPN, also called a virtual private network.

Your ISP may slow down your connection speed from time to time if it detects too much streaming activity. This is called throttling.

In this case, a VPN masks your IP address to prevent so-called throttling and buffering.
