I’m an American and this is the huge problem with Australian cafe culture

An American musician touring Australia has revealed the one aspect of our coffee culture he can’t adapt to.

Despite Australia being known for the best coffee in the world, Gabe Pietrafesa has put the country’s cafes on fire for closing in the early afternoon.

In a video he recently shared, Pietrafesa strolled around Perth with a Redbull in hand, but admitted he really wanted to ‘find a coffee’.

A few moments later he was overjoyed to find a café on the corner, only to realize it closed at 2pm.

Still determined in his search, Mr. Pietrafesa found a nearby restaurant and asked if they served coffee.

Unfortunately, the location’s coffee maker was defective.

‘Coffee machine was defective? What is this? McDonald’s in America with the ice cream machine?’ Pietrafesa joked.

Soft serve ice cream machines are notorious for being out of service due to the need to clean them.

After trying several more cafes without success, Mr Pietrafesa wondered if he was the problem.

“I’m starting to wonder if Perth hates me,” he said.

However, several West Australians who responded to his video were quick to assure Pietrafesa that he was not alone in his frustrations.

“Classic Perth, every cafe closes at 2pm,” one person wrote.

“Perth’s closing times will always shock me,” wrote another.

“They close at 2pm so the pubs can open,” said another.
